<p>"I resigned as part-time member of PMEAC on December 1," Bhalla said on social networking site Twitter.</p>

<p>The EAC- PM is headed by Niti Aayog member Bibek Debroy.&nbsp;</p>

<p>On Monday, RBI governor Urjit Patel had resigned citing personal reasons.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"On account of personal reasons, I have decided to step down from my current position (RBI Governor) effective immediately. It has been my privilege and honour to serve in the Reserve Bank of India in various capacities over the years," Patel had said in a statement.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Patel is the first RBI governor to step down before completing his term since 1990. Patel's resignation came after weeks of tussle between the government and the RBI over issuing the central bank's reserve funds.</p>

<p>The government was of the opinion that the bank should hand over a larger share of them to the government.&nbsp;</p>

Excellency Modi assured me to help the Afghan students and also asked me to submit a concept note. It was puzzling for me as to why Excellency Modi asked me about Herat girls only to realise later that Herati girls performed the national anthem of India in Hindi during his visit to Herat for inauguration of Salma Dam project."&nbsp;</p>

<p>The total cost of the school project is US$ 450,000 of which India will be paying $315,000. India is paying 70% of the cost of the project, while 30 per cent is being borne by (Naheed Farid's) Farid Foundation.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Farid was elected to the Afghan parliament at the age of 27, thereby becoming the country's youngest parliamentarian.&nbsp;</p>

<p>India's High Commissioner to Afghanistan Vinay Kumar expedited the project once the PMO flagged off the issue with the Indian embassy in Kabul.</p>

<p>The laying of the foundations of the two schools was done in the presence of Deputy Minister of Education Sardar Mohd Rahimi, who was chief guest at the ceremony, along with Herat's Deputy Governor Monisa Hassanzada, Farid, and Consul General of India to Herat Kumar Gaurav.</p>

<p>Speaking to WION, Gaurav said, "Students of Afghanistan want to study. We have to give them a conducive environment. Madam Farid visited India and met Hon’ble PM Modi and presented a concept note. Madam Farid has been a beacon light of hope for Afghan citizens. She has been doing a fantastic job in Afghanistan. We need so many Naheed Farids in Afghanistan. I hope these schools will produce such Naheed Farids which will take Afghanistan from darkness to light, from ignorance to knowledgeable society, and from violence to peace and prosperity. India’s commitment towards the educational reconstruction of Afghanistan is unwavering and absolute”.</p>

<p>In time, the Indian embassy in Kabul said, as many as 10,000 students are expected to benefit from the two schools. The Baba Zangi High School will be the largest school in the province with 24 classrooms while the Amani High School will have 12 classrooms.</p>

<p>Herat is the same province in which the Afghan-India Friendship Dam is located.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Thanking PM Modi for the dam, Farid said, "I profusely thanked India for construction of Salma Dam which illuminated thousands of houses, while construction of Parliament Building would deepen the roots of democracy in Afghanistan. I also thanked Excellency PM Modi for empowering Afghan citizens through various capacity-building programmes while cooperation on Chabahar will give access to sea for Afghan goods which will only bring welfare and prosperity for Afghan citizens."</p>

<p>Modi visited Herat in western Afghanistan in June 2016 and he and President Ghani jointly inaugurated the Afghan-India Friendship Dam, earlier called the Salma Dam. About 1,500 Indian and Afghan engineers and other professionals worked in difficult conditions to build the dam.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The title suit of the Ayodhya land dispute case is pending before the Supreme Court. In January, the court is expected to announce a date for the beginning of the hearing.</p>

<p>But as the dispute has remained unresolved for more than 25 years, right-wing groups are demanding that the Union government sidestep the courts and go ahead with the temple building.</p>

<p>VHP president Vishnu Sadashiv Kokje and its international working president Alok Kumar are also expected to address the rally.</p>

<p>The traffic police has issued an advisory detailing diversions in view of the rally. It said no traffic will be allowed on Ranjeet Singh Flyover (from Guru Nanak Chowk to Barakhambha Road), JLN Marg (from Rajghat to Delhi Gate), Chaman Lal Marg near VIP gate.</p>

<p>Elaborate security arrangements have been made at Ramlila Maidan and snipers have been deployed on high-rises.</p>

With over 15 million followers, PM Modi has ranked the list defeating world leaders like Donald Trump, Joko Widodo, Pope Francis, Queen Rania. While Joko Widodo has 14 million followers, Donald Trump has 10.9 million, Pope Francis 5.7 million and Queen Rania 4.9 million. The report published in Twiplomacy states that only Russia’s President Vladimir Putin and China’s Xi Jinping do not have personal accounts on Instagram. It, however, added that the Russian government maintains the official @PhotoGovernment channel and the Chinese State Council Information Office seems to have reserved the @ChinaSCIO account. The report also said that all leaders of the G7 and all but two of the G20 leaders have personal profiles on the platform. According to the report, the picture of newly married Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma with PM Modi is the most liked picture posted by any world leader. PM Modi hits out at Congress over AgustaWestland scam

<p>"We got him from Dubai," Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Wednesday of Christian Michel's extradition. Modi was speaking at an election rally in Sumerpur in Rajasthan's Pali district.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Michel, a UK national, is an accused in the alleged Rs 3,600 crore AgustaWestand VVIP chopper scam. He was <a href="http://www.wionews.com/india-news/vvip-chopper-case-middleman-christian-michel-extradited-to-india-181534">extradited to India from Dubai on </a><a href="http://www.wionews.com/india-news/vvip-chopper-case-middleman-christian-michel-extradited-to-india-181534">Tuesday</a>, and will be produced in court on Wednesday.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Helicopter kaand ke raazdar aur dalal ko sarkar Dubai se pakad ke layi hai. Ab raazdar raaz kholega, pata nahi baat kahan tak jayegi, kitni duur tak jayegi," Modi said on Wednesday.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The BJP had on Tuesday said Michel's extradition could spell "serious trouble" for the Congress's "first family" since the alleged scam dates back to the UPA era.&nbsp;</p>

Kartarpur went to Pakistan due to lack of vision of Congress leaders: PM Modi

<p>Blaming the previous Congress rules for bank defaults, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday alleged the defaulters used to carry the party's name as "taveej" (amulet) as a shield but his government has acted strongly against such people and even "big crorepatis" have been forced to pay up.</p>

<p>Modi alleged that banks were "looted" by "naamdaar" who used to make telephone calls to the lenders to sanction loans.</p>

<p>Addressing an election rally here, he said those shedding "crocodile tears" for farmers should come to Rajasthan "to see" whether lands of farmers were purchased at a throw away price or not by people allegedly close to the Congress party in Delhi.</p>

<p>"Had the farmers known about the future and potential of solar power park, would they have sold their lands," the prime minister said.</p>

<p>Talking about the 'amulet', Modi said it saved people who looted government money.</p>

<p>"<em>Main aapko samjhana chahta hun. Unhone Congress ke naam ka taveej bana rakha tha. <p>The prime minister said the credit given to people by banks between 2006 and 2014, when Congress was in power at the Centre, was more than the money given to people since Independence.</p>

<p>"Telephone karke bankon ko loota gaya. Naamdaar ke phone jaate the aur bank se paise diye jaate the. (Banks were looted by making phone calls. Banks used to lend money after calls from 'naamdaar'," Modi said.</p>

<p>The prime minister said the BJP government, which came to power in 2014, enacted a law to recover money from defaulters. He said his government made stringent laws such as the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, under which Rs 3 lakh crore were recovered from loan defaulters.</p>

<p>"We brought big crorepatis on roads and recovered money," he said.</p>

<p>The opposition parties have been accusing the government of being soft on big corporates and of doing nothing to recover unpaid loans.</p>

<p>Modi also targeted the Congress for allegedly spreading lies.</p>

<p>"Those travelling with a rose on their shirt had knowledge about parks but not farming. Those who are not able to differentiate between mustard and sesame are giving lessons. Had Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel been the first prime minister,farmers of the country would not have faced misery," Modi said.</p>

<p>He also talked about the Swaminathan Commission, saying the final volume of its report came in 2007 but UPA government did not act on its recommendations on the Minimum Support Price to farmers.</p>

<p>Citing contribution of the Bishnoi community, he said members of the community laid their lives to protect the environment and India received the accolade of 'Champions of Earth' due to their efforts.</p>

<p>Zakia, the wife of Ehsan Jafri, an ex-Congress lawmaker who was killed in one of the worst incidents during the riots, has challenged the Gujarat High Court's October 5, 2017 order rejecting her plea against the SIT's decision, news agency PTI reported.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A bench headed by Justice A M Khanwilkar said, "The matter will take some time for hearing. The plea will be heard on November 26".</p>

<p>During the previous hearing, Ms Jafri's counsel had said that notice needs to be issued in the plea as it pertains to the aspect of alleged "larger conspiracy" during the period from February 27, 2002 and May 2002 and had also maintained that after the SIT gave a clean chit in its closure report in the case before a trial judge, a protest was filed by the petitioner which was dismissed by the magistrate without considering "substantiated merits".</p>

<p>On February 8, 2012, the SIT filed a closure report, giving the clean chit to PM Modi and 63 others, including senior government officials, saying there was "no prosecutable evidence" against them.</p>

<p>Senior Congress leader and former Minister of External Affairs Salman Khurshid on Friday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has cornered India's moral position in the world, adding that the Prime Minister also does consult Opposition leaders before taking 'far-reaching decisions'.</p>

<p>Questioning the Bharatiya Janata Party-led central government's foreign policies, Khurshid said, "The distressing and disturbing part is that there is no exchange between leaders of the BJP associated with Foreign Affairs and those who have been concerned about Foreign Affairs in the past. There is no consultation at all. After laying down office I had offered that whenever we are required we would come back and talk."</p>

<p>"In many far-reaching decisions that the Prime Minister has taken, including an unannounced visit to Pakistan and embracing the (former) Pakistan Prime Minister (Nawaz Sharif) and so on, I don't think that he has ever consulted the Opposition parties, certainly not the Congress party," Khurshid added.</p>

<p>He further stated that this was not the case when the Congress was in Centre."We are creating divisions abroad as well. The manner in which the Prime Minister speaks to the Indian diaspora in various countries is creating a political speech made to a political party and the supporters. We were careful when we were talking about dual citizenship. Yet for him, it doesn't matter," Khurshid said.</p>

<p>"I believe, he (Prime Minister Modi) is doing us a great disservice by creating a message in those countries that the people he addresses are different from the rest of those countries. We were supposed to be independent and that was the consensus. That consensus has broken down. We are now willing to take sides. We are not willing to stand up for morality. I know that enlightened self-interest is the ultimate test as far as foreign policy is concerned, but I think we have given up the idea of taking a moral position. India had a remarkable moral position in the world and I do believe that this Prime Minister has cornered that," he added.</p>

<p>Khurshid was speaking at an interactive session titled 'Is India being redefined?'&nbsp;organised by All India Professionals Congress (AIPC) here.</p>

<p>Speaking about the Minority groups, Khurshid said, "The Minority has to be equally vigilant and careful because their aspirations are being misused and misrepresented by the BJP. I must acknowledge that India is secular largely because Indian majority has ensured that India is secular. This is something that cannot be forgotten. Minority contribute a valuable dimension to Indian secularism and its richness. But the Minority must understand that the Majority is trying to help them and it must not make life more difficult."</p>

<p>Also present on the occasion were P Chidambaram, Shashi Tharoor, Manish Tewari, Kapil Sibal and Abhishek Singhvi.</p>

This was suggested by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his intervention at the 2nd session of G20 summit on international trade, international financial and tax system on Friday.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The nine-point agenda also suggests FATF should develop a set of commonly agreed and standardized procedures related to identification, extradition and judicial proceedings for dealing with economic offenders which will provide assistance to G20 countries.</p>
