Prime Minister Narendra Modi Monday launched a broadside against the Congress, accusing it of branding "peace-loving Hindus" as terrorists and insulting those who follow the religion.

Launching the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance's Lok Sabha poll campaign in Maharashtra at a public rally here, Modi said the Congress coined the term 'Hindu terror'.

"Leaders of that party are now scared of contesting from constituencies dominated by majority (Hindu) population," Modi said.

His barb was apparently directed at Congress chief Rahul Gandhi, who will be contesting the Lok Sabha polls from Wayanad constituency in Kerala, besides Amethi in Uttar Pradesh.

"Congress used the term 'Hindu terror'...It labelled the peace-loving Hindus as terrorists...Is there a single incident of Hindu terrorism?" Modi said.

"Congress insulted Hindus...People have decided to punish it in election...Hence, it is scared of fielding candidate from constituencies dominated by majority population," Modi added.

He accused the Congress and NCP of questioning the valour of soldiers and insulting them after the Pulwama terror attack and Balakot air strike.&nbsp;

These parties spoke language that was suitable to be used in Pakistan, he added.

Modi also hit out at NCP chief Sharad Pawar, who he said, chose not to contest the Lok Sabha election after deciding to do so first.

This was because the NCP chief sensed an unfavourable situation, Modi said, taunting the latter for "shying away" from poll fight.

Modi also claimed there was a family feud in the Pawar family and that Pawar was losing his grip on the party.

Modi also termed the Congress' "abuse" that he was a "chowkidar of toilets" as an "ornament" for him.

The second round of India-Pakistan talks to decide on the <a href="https://www.wionews.com/india-news/new-delhi-wants-2nd-kartarpur-meet-rescheduled-after-increased-khalistani-role-206450">modalities of Kartarpur corridor</a> has been postponed after New Delhi raised the concern of Islamabad appointing Khalistani elements in the 10-member committee for managing the corridor.

The committee includes a known Khalistani, Gopal Singh Chawla, who is also believed to be a close aide of 26/11 mastermind Hafiz Saeed. Other members of the committee include Bison Singh, Kuljit Singh, Tara Singh and Maninder Singh.

The committee, constituted by Pakistan's cabinet would facilitate Sikh pilgrims after the opening of Kartarpur corridor. The second round was supposed to happen on April 2 in Wagah, Pakistan.

New Delhi has also asked Pakistan to clarify its stand on the proposal it had put forward during the first meeting which took place on March 14 in Attari, India.

A release by the Ministry of External Affairs said that India has "shared concerns and sought clarifications on reports of controversial elements being appointed by Pakistan to a committee to be associated with the Kartarpur corridor."

"It has been conveyed that the next meeting on the modalities can be scheduled at an appropriate time after receiving Pakistan’s response," the release added. &nbsp;

India had called Pakistan's deputy high commissioner Syed Haider Shah on Friday morning and informed about its concern, especially on the security front.

Tamil Nadu farmers leader P Ayyakannu said on Saturday that 111 farmers from the state will contest against the Prime Minister from Varanasi.

Ayyakannu said the move is to urge the BJP to include their demands, including "profitable prices for farm produce," in its manifesto with a promise of fulfiling the same, adding that the "moment they assure in their manifesto that our demands will be fulfilled, we will drop our decision to contest against Modi."

In the event of that not happening, he said they would go ahead and contest against the Prime Minister.

"We are not against the BJP or our PM Modi. Before assuming power, Modi ji promised to fulfil our demands and assured to double our income. 
Even today he is our Prime Minister and the BJP is the ruling party and that is why we are making this demand to them," he told PTI.&nbsp;

Already, he said, he has booked train tickets for 300 farmers to go to Varanasi. Farmers from districts, including Tiruvannamalai and Tiruchirappalli, will reach Varanasi, he added.

In November 2018, farmers led by Ayyakannu had gone to Delhi with two "skulls," to take part in a kisan rally, saying it belonged to their colleagues who had allegedly committed suicide over debt.&nbsp;

Parties like the DMK and the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam have assured full loan waiver, which is also one of the farmers' demands, in their manifestos, he said.

Pressed further to clarify if talks with Pakistan was an option post the Pulwama terror attack which killed 40 CRPF jawans, Pitroda said that it would be naïve to assume that if some people came here and attacked, every citizen of that nation is to be blamed. “I don’t know much about (Pulwama) attack, it happens all the time, attack happen in Mumbai Taj hotel and Oberoi hotel. We could have reacted then and sent our planes but that is not the right approach according to me that’s not how you deal with the World. Eight people come (referring to Mumbai 26/11 attacks) and do something, you don’t jump on the entire nation,” said Sam Pitroda in the interview.

When asked if he questioned the Indian Air Force’s version of the Balakot air strikes, Pitroda clarified that an attack is different from making a claim of 300 dead. “We cannot be emotional. Data has to be neutral. So you come in today and say ‘I killed 300 people’ and I say wait a minute, the World is saying we didn’t kill anybody or kill less&nbsp;or kill more... I don’t know,” added Pitroda.

Pitroda, who is part of the Congress’ manifesto committee for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and is considered a senior ideologue of the party, sought a dialogue with Pakistan. “I am a Gandhian, I believe in more compassion and respect.
