The Madras High Court on Friday dismissed a petition filed against actor Rajinikanth over his remarks on rationalist leader E V Ramasamy “Periyar” as the petitioners withdrew the plea.

Actor Rajinikanth's has politely stated to protesting groups that he will not apologize for a speech that he delivered at a recent private event. His comments had caused a furore among supporters of social reformer and Dravidian movement icon EV Ramaswamy Naicker, who is fondly known as Periyar.
