It's the ship that broke the internet. The USS Abraham Lincoln pulled into Thailand streaked with rust from bow to stern after 286 days at sea — the longest stretch without a full port call in modern Navy history. The nuclear supercarrier's 5,000 sailors and Marines endured combat operations against Iran, food shortages, and reported mental health struggles, including overboard attempts. Trump called the deployment "not nearly long enough." Now, Pattaya gets a busy week — and the Lincoln gets a well-earned repaint.

Battered by war, USS Lincoln finally reaches Thailand

Thousands of US service members are about to descend on Thailand, as the U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier makes a port call near the coastal city of Pattaya, known for its beaches and nightlife. Thai police have been intensifying a crackdown on sex workers ahead of the arrival of a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier.

From Red Sea fire to Pattaya nightlife: Thai police warn American soldiers

Three Indian tourists called the police on a sex worker in Pattaya, Thailand, as they were unhappy with her physical appearance, specifically her "chest size," and asked her to leave. She asked them to make the full payment, but they refused. They left the hotel room and returned with the police. They told the officers that the woman was not getting out of their room as asked. However, she told the police that the men had hired her to provide sexual services. But now they were not ready to give her the money she said she was rightly owed, and there was no reason for the police to be involved. Pattaya is famous for its nightlife. Meanwhile, the police stated that they are accustomed to such incidents and deal with them regularly. She was to be paid 3,000 baht for each man and was given an initial deposit of 1.000 baht. They spent some time at the bar and then returned to a hotel room on Soi Pattaya Beach 11. However, the men changed their minds and asked her to leave. They were not happy with her physical appearance and her body figure, especially her chest size. They said it didn't meet their expectations. The woman refused to go out quietly and asked the men to pay the full amount. The men left their room on the pretext of withdrawing more money from the ATM. After some time, they returned with the police and complained that the woman was refusing to leave their room. The tourists claimed they felt misled by the woman’s appearance, and that the service did not match what had been promised. The woman denied she had done anything wrong and stated that both parties had mutually agreed to the services. The matter escalated quickly, and the police warned the tourists that mutual understanding in business transactions was important, particularly in places like Pattaya. A British skydiver fell to his death from a Pattaya condominium on Saturday (Jan 27) after his parachute failed to deploy. The 33-year-old skydiver Nathy Odinson sneaked to the top of the 29-floor building and jumped off, while his friend waited to shoot the landing on the ground. However, as per media reports, Odinson’s parachute didn’t open fully, causing him to crash into some trees before falling to his death on the road.

Tourist police in Tambon Na Klua in Bang Lamung district of Chonburi province were called in, who were told by the security officials of the condominium that they heard a loud noise of a heavy object hitting the ground and later heard a woman crying.

According to the security officials, Odinson had parked his car outside the building before sneaking into the building. Police said they were investigating the case and analysing CCTV footage from the building. Odinson’s friend was also interrogated by the police.

Tour buses idle as Thai economy takes gut punch from virus

A Belarusian model who claimed she had proof of Russian efforts to help Donald Trump win office was set to be deported after being convicted Tuesday nearly a year after her arrest in Thailand for participating in a "sex training course".

Anastasia Vashukevich, known by her pen name Nastya Rybka, has been held with several others since a police raid in the sleazy seaside resort of Pattaya last February.

She had travelled to Thailand after becoming embroiled in a political scandal with Russian aluminium tycoon Oleg Deripaska, a one-time associate of US President Trump's disgraced former campaign director Paul Manafort.

She set off a scramble for details after promising to reveal "missing puzzle pieces" regarding claims the Kremlin aided Trump's 2016 election victory.

But the material never surfaced and critics dismissed it as a publicity stunt.

The Pattaya Provincial Court convicted her and seven co-defendants after they suddenly pleaded guilty to multiple charges including solicitation and illegal assembly.

"The court found them all guilty of soliciting sex," said a judge on the panel, handing them three-year sentences and $6,000 fines but reducing the sentences to time served.

"The court releases them today," the judge added.

Thai immigration chief Surachate Hakparn said they would be transferred to an immigration detention centre in Bangkok and deported.

"The next step, I will coordinate with the Russian government for their deportation, which will likely take one week for all the processes to complete," Surachate told AFP.

"They are blacklisted from Thailand permanently for conducting bad deeds."

Seduction guru

The risque seminar was led by self-styled Russian seduction guru Alex Kirillov and some participants wore shirts that said "sex animator" even though one participant at the time described it as more of a romance and relationship course.

Kirillov, who has served as a spokesman for the mostly Russian group, told reporters as they arrived at court Tuesday that he believed they were set up.

"I think somebody ordered (our arrest)... for money," he said.

Vashukevich and Kirillov had once expressed fear of being deported back to Russia and at one stage called on Washington for help.

But Vashukevich later blamed the US for their imprisonment.

Both Washington and Moscow publicly had shrugged off Vashukevich's story, which the US State Department described as "bizarre".

A friend of theirs who has been involved in the case and was at the court told AFP they were "very happy" with the verdict.

Vashukevich, who has penned a book about seducing oligarchs, also faces legal problems in Russia.

Deripaska won an invasion of privacy lawsuit against her and Kirillov in July after a video apparently filmed by the model showed the tycoon vacationing with an influential Russian deputy prime minister.

Kremlin-connected Deripaska and Manafort, Trump's ex-campaign manager, did business together in the mid-2000s.

Manafort has since been convicted in the US of financial crimes related to political work he did in Ukraine before the 2016 election as well as witness tampering.
