Olympics drag artist Barbara Butch takes online haters to court after opening ceremony controversy

<p>A commentator was removed from his duties after he made a sexist remark during a swim relay on Saturday. Eurosport broadcaster Bob Ballard passed the comment after Australia’s women's team won gold at the 4×100-meter freestyle relay. “Well, the women are just finishing up. You know what women are like … hanging around, doing their makeup," he was heard saying. The video clip soon went viral and Eurosport swiftly removed Ballard from commentator duties. He wasn't part of the team when the swimming event resumed on Sunday.</p>

<p>Eurosport took the matter seriously and immediately took action. Issuing a statement in the matter, it said, “During a segment of Eurosport’s coverage last night, commentator Bob Ballard made an inappropriate comment. To that end, he has been removed from our commentary roster with immediate effect.”</p>

<p>Right after Ballard made the statement, his co-commentator Lizzie Simmonds lashed out at him, calling the remark “outrageous”. Ballard hasn't publicly said anything on the matter yet. <p>Addressing the reporters on Sunday (Jul 28), Jolly said 'diversity' was the key point of the opening ceremony and this&nbsp;is what his production intended to achieve.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“Our subject was not to be subversive. We never wanted to be subversive. We wanted to talk about diversity. Diversity means being together,” Jolly said.</p>

<p>Jolly, a French native from Normandy, who works as a theatre artist added that France was a free country and that it was artistic freedom on display during the ceremony.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“We wanted to include everyone, as simple as that. In France, we have freedom of creation, artistic freedom. We are lucky in France to live in a free country. I didn’t have any specific messages that I wanted to deliver," said Jolly.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"In France, we are a republic, we have the right to love whom we want, we have the right not to be worshippers, we have a lot of rights in France, and this is what I wanted to convey," he added.&nbsp;</p>
