Former Pakistan captain Aamer Sohail has urged the International Cricket Council (ICC) to work towards resuming bilateral cricket between India and Pakistan. The arch-rivals share one of the fiercest rivalries on the cricket pitch but have not played a bilateral series between them since 2013.

India and Pakistan continue to meet only in major ICC tournaments due to the ongoing political tension between the two countries. Lamenting the lack of bilateral cricket between the two teams, Sohail said fans have been deprived of relishing the epic rivalry.

"The ICC keeps on emphasising that politics should not be involved as far as cricket is concerned and I agree with that. The contest between India and Pakistan always brings that anticipation all around the world. Cricket fans are deprived of that," Sohail was quoted as saying by Sportstar.

Former Pakistan captain Sohail also shared his views on Rohit Sharma being appointed as India's limited-overs captain after the departure of Virat Kohli. The Pakistan great believes Rohit is the right choice for captaincy and his experience of leading the Mumbai Indians in the IPL will also help India.

"Rohit Sharma is a good choice as a captain. His batting doesn't seem to get affected by captaincy. Of course, his experience as the Mumbai Indians skipper at the IPL (Indian Premier League) would help. IPL helps the new players get prepared and make them comfortable with the camera.But I believe the IPL performances should not be the criterion for selection to the Test team; it should be based only on First-Class cricket," said Sohail.

Rizwan had slammed an unbeaten half-century along with Pakistan skipper Babar Azam to help their team earn a comprehensive win by ten wickets against India. It was a dominant performance from the Men in Green, who chased down the target of 152 runs with 13 balls to spare without losing a single wicket.

Rizwan, who was the hero of Pakistan's ten-wicket win against India, revealed he shares a great bond with Kohli, who was leading Team India in the T20 World Cup 2021. The Pakistan wicket-keeper batter also revealed an interesting anecdote from the game.

“No doubt Virat Kohli is number one in the world,” Rizwan told Paktv.tv.&nbsp;

On a day when Pakistan`s Test opener, Abid Ali competed 9,000 First-class runs, the 34-year-old was rushed to hospital after complaining of chest pain during a Quaid-e-Azam trophy match. 
 
Reports said that Abid, who plays for Central Punjab, felt pain twice while batting against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at UBL Cricket Ground here. Abid was unbeaten on 61 when he returned to the dressing room.

Javed believes PSL is a better league compared to the IPL and is the most interesting league in the world due to the nature of pitches in Pakistan. Compared to PSL, Javed said IPL has only flat pitches and the quality of bowling is low.&nbsp;

"This [PSL] is the most interesting league in the world, if there are no interruptions due to Covid-19 or anything else, because of the nature of the pitches. For instance, Lahore's pitch has some support for the bowlers, whereas you see higher scores in Karachi," Javed was quoted as saying by samaa.tv by&nbsp;PTV Sports.

"On the other hand if you look at IPL, there is only one type of cricket being played there due to extremely flat surfaces and low-quality bowling," added the former Pakistan pacer.

Former Pakistan pacer rates IPL below PSL over 'low quality bowling', gets trolled brutally on Twitter

Taking a dig at Indian cricket team fans, former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif has said Indians will now say they don't have players like Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan in their team. Latif lauded the Pakistani opening duo for their batting heroics in T20Is this year and hailed them for their remarkable consistency.

Babar and Rizwan displayed sensational form throughout the year and dominated the proceedings in T20Is. The duo produced several memorable match-winning partnerships for Pakistan and broke a number of records with their batting exploits in the shortest format of the game.&nbsp;

While Rizwan is the top run-getter in T20Is in 2021 with 1326 runs to his name, Babar is at the second spot having amassed 939 runs in T20Is this year. The duo was also in terrific form in the T20 World Cup 2021 where they helped the Men in Green reach the semi-finals.

Hailing Babar and Rizwan for their brilliant consistency, Latif took a dig at Indian fans during a show on Pakistani news channel&nbsp;PTV Sports&nbsp;and said - "About a year ago, we used to say that Pakistan doesn’t have players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma or KL Rahul, especially in T20 cricket. Babar and Rizwan are the only players to have crossed the 900-run mark in T20Is this year and have been sensational as an opening duo for Pakistan. Rizwan had recently become the first batsman in the world to notch up 2000 runs in a calendar year in T20 cricket. 1326 of those came in T20 internationals for Pakistan, including twelve half-centuries and a hundred.

Despite being consistent performers for their team in T20Is, Babar and Rizwan have often been criticised for their moderate strike rate. However, Latif believes the duo has made up for their strike rate by pacing their innings perfectly.

"Earlier, we also had our reservations about their scoring rate, but they made up for it by pacing their innings perfectly," said the former Pakistan captain.

After rain played spoilsport on two consecutive days, the start of day four also got delayed due to light showers and a wet outfield. However, the match resumed after almost an hour and a half`s wait with Pakistan on 188/2, and Babar Azam and Azhar Ali were on 71 not out and 52 not out respectively. 
 
On the first ball he faced, Azhar struck a four. But two balls later, he threw away his wicket, getting caught behind after scoring 56. Shortly after, Azam followed suit, falling for 76. 
 
Thereafter, the two new batters -- Fawad Alam and Mohammad Rizwan combined for a steady stand and made sure there were not any more hiccups in the session. They batted with caution and kept the scoreboard ticking with regular boundaries. They took their side to Lunch at 242/4, with their stand worth 45 runs at the time. 
 
The two batters kept finding the ropes after the break and soon got to their respective fifties before Azam decided to declare the innings at 300/4 in an attempt to force a result in the four sessions remaining.

2nd Test, Day 4: Bangladesh reeling at 76/7 after Pakistan declare first innings at 300 for 4

Pakistan took control of the ongoing second Test against Bangladesh in Dhaka on Day 4 of the game on Tuesday with quick wickets during the hosts' first innings. After rain washed out day 3's play in the Test match, Pakistan resumed their first innings from 188/2 and went on to add 112 runs on the board before declaring their innings on 300/4.

The bowlers then got Pakistan off to a stunning start as they kept dismissing Bangladesh batters at regular intervals to pile pressure on the hosts. Sajid Khan ran through the Bangladesh batting line-up with an impressive six-wicket haul. He dismissed both openers Mahmdul Hasan (0) and Shadman Islam (3) cheaply before bagging the wickets of Mushfiqur Rahim and Liton Das among others to leave Bangladesh reeling on 76/7 at stumps on Day 4.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam also decided to roll his arm during Bangladesh's first innings and bowled for the first time in his international career. Babar conceded a run off his over and nearly got the wicket of Taijul Islam, who edged one towards slips but survived as the ball didn't carry to the fielder.

"I feel the Indians were scared even before the match started. Their body language, if you see Virat Kohli and Babar Azam's interview at the toss, you could sense who was under pressure," Inzamam said on ARY News.

Pakistan got off to a winning start in the ongoing three-match T20I series against Bangladesh on Friday as they defeated the hosts by four wickets in a low-scoring thriller at the Shere Bangla Stadium in Dhaka. Pakistan held their nerves to chase down the target of 128 runs with four balls to spare after restricting Bangladesh for 127/7 in 20 overs.

Pakistan pacer Hasan Ali, who was subjected to vicious abuse after dropping a catch in the T20 World Cup 2021 semi-final against Australia, made a strong comeback as he bowled a magnificent spell against Bangladesh in Dhaka. Ali picked up 3 wickets while conceding only 22 runs off his four overs against the hosts to help Pakistan restrict them on a low-key total.

While Ali&nbsp;produced an exceptional performance, what caught the eye of many was the speed gun when it showed that the Pakistan fast bowler had clocked an unbelievable 219 kph. The incident happened in the second over of Bangladesh's innings when Ali was bowling against Najmul Hossain Shanto.

It was certainly an error on the speed gun as it showed that the delivery was bowled at 219 km/hr or 136.1 mph on the television screens. Fans were left baffled on social media as the fastest delivery ever bowled in cricket history was clocked at 161.3 kph by former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar against England in the 2003 ODI World Cup.

The Rawalpindi Express' record of fastest delivery remains intact as it was a speed gun error in Hasan Ali's case.
