<p>There have been major delays in NASA’s Artemis program which have caused setbacks for astronauts flying to the Moon as a part of that mission. This comes as Artemis II, which is intended to carry four astronauts into a lunar orbit, was moved to April 2026.&nbsp;</p>

<p>NASA Administrator Bill Nelson attributed these delays to problems with the Orion crew capsule's heat shield.&nbsp;</p>

<p>During a test flight in 2022, when the capsule flew without astronauts, the heat shield was damaged. It developed cracks and erosion as it re-entered Earth's atmosphere, raising concerns about its safety for future missions with crew onboard.&nbsp;</p>

<p>To fix this, NASA has decided to change the capsule’s return path for the upcoming Artemis II mission, while keeping the current heat shield design to avoid further delays that would come from redesigning it completely.</p>

<p>The futuristic kind of robots have been unveiled by NASA which will look into the mysteries of the underwater worlds of the moons of Jupiter like Europa and Saturn's Enceladus.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The concept, which has been built by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), is called Sensing With Independent Micro-swimmers (SWIM) and can prove revolutionary in the investigation of the icy worlds' subsurface oceans.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The robot is being tested in a pool and it weighs more than two kilograms and measures nearly 16.5 inches.</p>

<p>NASA said that their plan is to deliver various such tiny self-propelled robots which are three times smaller in comparison to the existing autonomous underwater vehicles and look for temperature and chemical signals which can point to life.</p>

NASA introduces robots that will swim in oceans of moons of Jupiter

<p>According to a scientist NASA may have killed living creatures on Mars accidentally while carrying out a research mission to find them on the Red Planet.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Scientists, for decades, have been making efforts to find any signs of life on the planet, however, no conclusive evidence has emerged as of yet.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Astrobiologist Dirk Schulze-Makuch, who is from the Technical University Berlin in Germany, said that Viking landers emerged as the first US mission which landed safely on Mars in 1976 which probably was the closest scientists came to finding alien life, reported Science Alert.</p>

<h2><strong>How Viking landers may have ended up killing lives on Mars?</strong></h2>

<p>The scientist said that the methods of finding life are destructive in themselves. He shared his thoughts in a column shared in Big Think and in commentary which was published in Nature Astronomy.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"The Viking experiments, which involved adding water to soil samples, might have overwhelmed these potential microbes, leading to their demise," he further stated.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Schulze-Makuch further said that the planet's potential microbes may have been "overwhelmed".</p>

<p>"Now let's ask what would happen if you poured water over these dry-adapted microbes. Might that overwhelm them? In technical terms, we would say that we were hyperhydrating them, but in simple terms, it would be more like drowning them. Many of the Viking experiments involved applying water to the soil samples, which may explain the puzzling results," the scientist further explained.</p>

<p>Schulze-Makuch has advised to send another mission to the Red Planet in search of life.&nbsp;</p>

According to a scientist NASA may have killed living creatures on Mars accidentally while carrying out a research mission to find them on the Red Planet. Scientists, for decades, have been making efforts to find any signs of life on the planet, however, no conclusive evidence has emerged as of yet. Astrobiologist Dirk Schulze-Makuch, who is from the Technical University Berlin in Germany, said that Viking landers emerged as the first US mission which landed safely on Mars in 1976 which probably was the closest scientists came to finding alien life, reported Science Alert. He shared his thoughts in a column shared in Big Think and in commentary which was published in Nature Astronomy. "However, subsequent missions have verified the presence of native organic compounds on Mars, although in a chlorinated form. Life on Mars could have adapted to the arid environment by existing within salt rocks and absorbing water directly from the atmosphere," he added. "The Viking experiments, which involved adding water to soil samples, might have overwhelmed these potential microbes, leading to their demise," he further stated. Many of the Viking experiments involved applying water to the soil samples, which may explain the puzzling results," the scientist further explained. <p>"They are looking for details, hence the delay in publishing the news," said&nbsp;Holland, while speaking to DailyMail.com regarding the strange radio signal which has remained a hot debate since it was first detected on April 29, 2019.</p>

<p>YouTuber 'Prof Simon' Holland claimed that he had received confirmation of the discovery of proof of alien life from a source inside the $100 million nonprofit 'Breakthrough Listen'.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Holland said that the signal is currently in the "low information zone". "The technical hurdles faced are that the signal is very weak," he added.</p>

<p>The Europa Clipper is the biggest spacecraft built by NASA for investigating another planet so far. The spacecraft will take 5 and a half years to reach the planet and will travel within 16 miles of the surface of Europa.</p>

<p>The spacecraft's liftoff is set to take place this month aboard SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy rocket from NASA’s Kennedy Space Centre and the mission has cost around $5.2 billion.</p>

<p>The spacecraft has supersized solar panels which is required due to the distance of Jupiter from the Sun.</p>

<p>Jupiter's roundabout trip will cover 1.8 billion miles (3 billion kilometres) and it is expected to fly past Mars early next year and cross Earth in late 2026.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The GRS has always intrigued the astronomers with its existence. It is an anticyclone on the planet which is large enough that it can swallow Earth and is believed to have been present for at least 150 years.&nbsp;</p>

<p>However, in the new observations made by Hubble from the data collected across 90 days between December 2023 to March 2024, it was found that GRS is not actually stable.</p>

<p>The combination of the Hubble images helped astronomers create a time-lapse movie of the abrupt behaviour of the GRS.</p>

<p>"While we knew its motion varies slightly in its longitude, we didn't expect to see the size oscillate. As far as we know, it's not been identified before," said Amy Simon, lead author of the paper&nbsp;published&nbsp;in&nbsp;The Planetary Science Journal and member of NASA's Goddard Space Flight Centre in Greenbelt, Maryland.</p>

<p>The team, led by Simon, used the Hubble telescope to zoom in on the GRS and get detailed information regarding its size, shape, and any subtle colour changes.</p>

<p>"When we look closely, we see a lot of things are changing from day to day," Simon said.</p>

<p>In the study, ultraviolet-light observations were made, which showed that the storm's distinct core gets brightest when the GRS reaches its largest size in its oscillation cycle. This is indicative of less haze absorption in the upper atmosphere.</p>

<p>"As it accelerates and decelerates, the GRS is pushing against the windy jet streams to the north and south of it," stated co-investigator Mike Wong of the University of California at Berkeley.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Right now it's over-filling its latitude band relative to the wind field. Once it shrinks inside that band, the winds will really be holding it in place," Simon said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to the team, the GRS will most probably get stabilised in size.</p>

<p>Even though many of the NEOs don't come very near to Earth, some of them do come at a scary distance and get tagged as potentially hazardous asteroids which need more attention.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Such asteroids are more than 460 feet (140 metres) in size and their orbits bring them within a distance of 7.5 million kilometres from Earth.&nbsp;</p>

The asteroids, named 2018 QE, 2024 TD3, and 2024 TK3, do not pose any threat to our planet, however, their proximity has given scientists an opportunity to carry out valuable research on space rocks. Asteroid 2018 QE Asteroid 2018 QE is a bus-sized space rock which measures 32 feet wide and will fly at a distance of 415,000 kilometres from Earth. Asteroid 2024 TD3 Asteroid 2024 TD3 is as big as an aeroplane and is 99 feet wide. Even though it is a large size, it will fly past our planet at a safe distance of 2,320,000 kilometres. Asteroid 2024 TK3 Asteroid 2024 TK3 is a house-sized celestial object which measures 57 feet. It will make its closest approach at a safe distance of 2,350,000 kilometres. How is NASA tracking asteroids? NASA, along with other space agencies, has established a network of telescopes and advanced computing for identifying near-Earth objects (NEOs). Such asteroids are more than 460 feet (140 metres) in size and their orbits bring them within a distance of 7.5 million kilometres from Earth.
