Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag will face an uncertain future with the side as the club hierarchy completes the end-of-the-season review after a dismal 2023-24 campaign. Despite finishing eighth, the club’s worst finish in the Premier League era, Manchester United added a silver lining to the campaign with the FA Cup win against arch-rivals Manchester City at Wembley Stadium. While nothing is decided yet, ten Hag&nbsp;faces an uncertain time at the club.

<h2>Manchester’s end-of-the-season review</h2>

According to an ESPN source, INEOS reviews led by director of sport Sir Dave Brailsford in other sports have typically taken around four days to complete, although United insists there is no time limit. The board has already held talks with several names who are in the mix to be appointed as managers in the summer or the future. The list of names includes Thomas Tuchel, Mauricio Pochettino, Thomas Frank and Kieran McKenna.

Although no decision has yet been made on ten Hag’s future, the club has kept all the options open. In case the Dutchman keeps his job but fails to start on the front foot in the 2024-25 season, United could go back to their shortlist of names to replace him. During this phase, United will have the options of Tuchel and Pochettino while both Frank and McKenna will be in charge of their respective Premier League sides.

However, if United sack ten Hag during the close season, they will have a host of names available, including Gareth Southgate and Roberto De Zerbi. Southgate’s position, however, remains vulnerable as he is committed to the English national side until Euro 2024 at least.

On the flip side, ten Hag boosted his chances of keeping the job last week when he helped his side win the FA Cup. The performance was closely monitored by the hierarchy of the staff, including Sir Jim Ratcliffe, but gave no assurance on whether ten Hag remains at the helm.

As things stand, United are likely to wait until the start of pre-season where they could clear the air on who will be the man in charge when the 2024-25 season starts.

Erik ten Hag's future hangs in balance as Manchester United board waits for season review

Former Manchester United player-turned-pundit, Roy Keane, has admitted that he was wrong about Bruno Fernandes after the latter put in an excellent shift during the FA Cup final against Manchester City on Saturday (May 25). Keane said Fernandes led from the front as the captain as his leadership rubbed on the other United players.&nbsp;

United played the best they have in the entire season and managed to keep Premier League winners quiet for major parts of the game.&nbsp;

"It was a proper United performance. They were dogged, they sat in and they played some good stuff going forward. They scored two goals. They had a bit of confidence coming into the game with the last couple of results against Newcastle and Brighton."&nbsp;

Fernandes was instrumental in United stopping the City juggernaut. He even assisted the second goal to Kobbie Mainoo by placing the ball elegantly at the youngster's feet inside the penalty box.&nbsp;

"I have been critical of Bruno over the years but I am happy to be proved wrong because his leadership today was outstanding. We always mention how brilliant he is as a player. I am pleased for the fans. It’s been a frustrating few months and we are quick to criticise. Manchester City didn’t have a great day today but it’s about Manchester United today. We have to enjoy these moments. Wembley is only good if you win," said Keane.&nbsp;

‘Happy to be’: Man United legend admits he was ‘wrong’ about Bruno Fernandes

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has addressed rumours of his departure from the club after he lifted the FA Cup on Saturday (May 25) at Wembley Stadium. Ten Hag&nbsp;is rumoured&nbsp;to get sacked from his Manchester United managerial role after the club endured a tough season in his second spell. Manchester United beat arch-rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup final 2-1 and clinched their 13th title in the historic tournament.&nbsp;

<h2>Ten Hag addresses&nbsp;rumours</h2>

"Two trophies in two years is not bad, three&nbsp;finals in two years is not bad,"&nbsp;Ten Hag told a postmatch news conference Saturday.

"If they&nbsp;don't&nbsp;want me,&nbsp;then&nbsp;I go somewhere else to win trophies because that is what I do."

Goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo in the first half were enough for United to exact revenge on Manchester City&nbsp;having&nbsp;lost in the FA Cup final&nbsp;in&nbsp;2023.&nbsp;Although Man City pulled one goal back late in the contest, there was no joy for Pep&nbsp;Guardiola’s&nbsp;men as they finished second-best.

The win for United also saw Erik ten Hag ended his second season with a trophy. He lifted the League Cup in his first season and became only the second United manager in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era to win two major trophies.

However, an early exit from the Champions League and an eighth-place finish in the Premier League were the big lows for United during the 2023-24 season. The club was also&nbsp;in danger of missing&nbsp;out on European football had they not won the FA Cup. As things stand,&nbsp;United’s&nbsp; win in the FA Cup will see them qualify for the Europa League along with Tottenham Hotspur&nbsp; while&nbsp;Chelsea will compete in the UEFA Conference League. Newcastle United&nbsp;will miss out on European football despite finishing seventh in the Premier League.

While the FA Cup win might have eased the pressure on Ten Hag, it is still likely that he could face the sack with the club hierarchy already on a hunt for a new manager.&nbsp;

Manchester United vs Manchester City, FA Cup final: All you need to know

Premier League (PL) Manchester United's goalkeeper Andre Onana says that he is not at the club to 'back' manager Erik Ten Hag. The comments come at a time when the Dutch manager is facing piercing scrutiny over United's worst-ever finish in the Premier League.&nbsp;

Manchester United finished eighth on the PL points table with only 18 wins in 38 games to go with six draws and 14 losses.

"He's a good guy, a good coach," Onana said, ahead of United's FA Cup final on Saturday, May 25 against the local rivals Manchester City.

"Tactically he's very good, and he showed it last season. I was not here last season and they got top four. This season a lot of things happened. I'm not here to back him. He is big enough to back himself, but he is a really good guy, he is a positive coach and tactically he's good."

Manchester United faced a lot of flak this season for poor performances both away and at home and Onana said injuries played a role in that.&nbsp;

"If [Ten Hag] had all his squad, it would probably be different," Onana said.

"This season is difficult for him, for us, for the club, for the fans because it is frustrating for the fans when they are coming away and how we are losing, it is difficult." He added.

One of the reasons for United's struggle this season is the form of English forward Marcus Rashford, who managed just eight goals this season compared to 30 last year.

Speaking on his struggles, Onana said: "He's a bad player? So last season he was good, this season he is bad? No. It is just a moment. You can have a bad season, you can have a bad start. But the most important thing is how you end, and Rashy, for me, is one of the best players in the world."

'Not here to back him,' says Manchester United's Andre Onana as manager Erik Ten Hag faces uncertain future

Erik ten Hag’s tenure as manager of Manchester United could come to an end on Saturday (May 25) as the Red Devils prepare to face arch-rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup final. Ten Hag, led United to their worst finish in the Premier League era last Sunday after they were condemned to eighth place. Now according to reports from several media outlets in the United Kingdom, Saturday’s FA Cup&nbsp;final against City could be the last straw for him.

<h2>Ten Hag to be sacked after the FA Cup final?</h2>

While nothing is official yet, United minority stakeholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe has reportedly decided to part ways with Ten Hag. This comes after the club endured tough times throughout the season in different competitions. United finished the season with a negative Goal Difference (GD) for the first time in the Premier League era, which was a new low for the Red Devils.

Ten Hag’s approach to play has attracted criticism from the board, which had a major overhaul in the last few months.

Another factor suggested in Ten Hag getting sacked is the managers Marcus Rashford going off the radar in recent months and Jadon Sancho forced to leave the club on loan.

United’s form in the Champions League was also a worry after the club finished bottom of their group standings and failed to retain a place in Europe for the second half of the season. Mauricio Pochettino, who&nbsp;recently resigned at Chelsea, also has admirers at the club and was close to being appointed as the manager in 2022 before Ten Hag got the job.

FA Cup Final: Bruno Fernandes urges Man Utd to keep on fighting, calls club to match his expectations

Former Manchester United player Rio Ferdinand believes that Erik ten Hag will be sacked, regardless of the result of Saturday's (May 25) FA Cup final against Manchester City. There will be no U-turn at Bayern Munich for Thomas Tuchel&nbsp;as&nbsp;the outgoing manager confirmed his departure on Friday (May 17) in a pre-match press conference.&nbsp;Tuche was earlier reported&nbsp;to be&nbsp;open to staying at the German club despite his departure&nbsp;being confirmed&nbsp;in early February.&nbsp;However, those rumours were brought to an end on Friday when Tuchel addressed his final press conference.&nbsp;

<h2>Tuchel shuts the door on staying at&nbsp;Bayern</h2>

“The feedback from recent weeks was the foundation for us having a discussion to stay and continue together… but we&nbsp;couldn't&nbsp;reach an agreement. I&nbsp;won't&nbsp;name the reasons. The agreement from February stands, I&nbsp;am leaving Bayern,”&nbsp;Tuchel said in his final press conference for Bayern Munich ahead of the Hoffenheim match on Saturday.&nbsp;

The German was appointed Bayern Munich manager in March 2023, but with mixed results and poor form at the turn of the year, the management pulled the plug and decided to part ways with him.

However, the German side&nbsp;since&nbsp;February&nbsp;was trying hard to convince several targets but failed on each occasion.&nbsp;

The&nbsp;list of&nbsp;potential candidates included former boss and now Germany national team manager Julian Nagelsmann, former Manchester United interim manager Ralf Ragnick and Bayer&nbsp;Leverkusen’s&nbsp;Xabi Alonso. However, all of them turned down the chance to become manager,&nbsp;leaving Bayern with no option but to discuss a potential stay for Tuchel.&nbsp;

Thomas Tuchel confirms Bayern Munich exit despite U-turn rumours; Manchester United move hangs in balance

Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has taken a dig at players from his former side, calling the management to transfer them all except Bruno Fernandes. According to Rooney, Fernandes is the only quality player in the current Manchester United squad as the team struggles on all fronts. The Red Devils beat Newcastle United in a thrilling 3-2 win at Old Trafford on&nbsp;Wednesday,&nbsp;but are out of contention for European qualification next season, sitting eighth in the Premier League standings.

<h2>Rooney heaps praise at&nbsp;Fernandes</h2>

"You have to build around Bruno.&nbsp;He's&nbsp;the one player with quality. He has got fight in him. I think you keep the young players and Bruno. I think it has to be a massive clearout, it&nbsp;has to be.&nbsp;It's&nbsp;not going to be in one year&nbsp;but&nbsp;it's&nbsp;got&nbsp;to be over the next couple of years,"&nbsp;Rooney said on Sky Sports on Wednesday.

"To compete in this league, they need better players and&nbsp;don't&nbsp;get me wrong, these players are good players and Premier League players.&nbsp;But to compete with Manchester City, with Liverpool, with&nbsp;Arsenal&nbsp;they need better players."

United will close their Premier League season on Sunday away at Brighton and are in danger of missing out on European football qualification for the first time since the 2014-15 season. They&nbsp;currently&nbsp;sit eighth in the standings with 57 points and need to better&nbsp;Newcastle’s&nbsp;result to finish in the Conference League spot.&nbsp;

Premier League: Wayne Rooney takes dig at Man Utd players, laments Bruno Fernandez as only QUALITY player

Amad Diallo scored his first Premier League goal and assisted on another to power Manchester United to a 3-2 victory over Newcastle United on Wednesday at Old Trafford in a battle between teams fighting for a European berth next season.

Erik ten Hag's team remained eighth in the table but level on 57 points with seventh-placed Newcastle. Chelsea are sixth on 60 points after beating Brighton &amp; Hove Albion 2-1 earlier on Wednesday to take a big step toward clinching a European berth.

"Obviously the job isn't finished yet," Manchester United skipper Bruno Fernandes told Sky Sports. "We still have one game in the Premier League then the biggest game of the season, the FA Cup final (on May 25 against holders Manchester City).

"It has been a tough season," he added. "The table shows that and we are all aware of that. The fans have been amazing and behind us all season. We all appreciate what they have been doing for us. We want to do better and do differently and (the fans) deserve that."

Kobbie Mainoo capitalised on Newcastle's appalling defence to get the home side on the scoreboard in the 31st minute. Diallo spotted the 19-year-old unmarked near the penalty spot and Mainoo -- kept onside by a half-asleep Kieran Trippier -- turned and fired home.

Anthony Gordon drew Newcastle level in the 49th minute when he slid to stab in a cross from Jacob Murphy. But Diallo put Ten Hag's team back on top eight minutes later when Fernandes' corner was headed out, and Diallo, prowling alone just inside the 18-yard-box rifled in a shot which keeper Martin Dubravka had little chance of saving.

Rasmus Hojlund, who entered the game in the 82nd minute, scored two minutes later when he cut inside two defenders and slotted home from 16 yards, holding up a finger as if to silence the crowd.

Newcastle's Lewis Hall pulled one back in injury time, but Ten Hag's men held on to end one of the most miserable home seasons in years with a victory.

Ten Hag addressed the Old Trafford crowd after the game, thanking them for being the "best supporters in the world." "As you know it wasn't an easy season, but one thing remained constant and that was the backing of you for the team," Ten Hag, whose job has been the subject of speculation amid his team's struggles this season, said to cheers from the red-clad crowd.

"This season is not over yet. First we go to Brighton where we travel for three points (on the final day of the season on Sunday) and then we go to Wembley. And I promise you those players will give everything to get that cup and bring it to Old Trafford."

If Ten Hag's men win the FA Cup, they will play in the Europa League next season. However, if they fail to win the Cup, they will need to finish seventh to secure a place in the Europa Conference League.

Manchester United, who have never finished lower than seventh in the Premier League, need to better Newcastle's result at Brentford on Sunday to move up to seventh place.

Both teams had numerous scoring chances and Newcastle screamed for a penalty late in the first half after Gordon was taken down in the box in a tackle that left a gaping hole in the back of his sock. After a VAR review, no penalty was given.

"I don't understand the point in VAR? (Sofyan) Amrabat fouled me and it's a clear penalty," Anthony told Sky. "Get rid (of VAR) or get better."

<h2>Chelsea down Brighton</h2>

Cole Palmer and Christopher Nkunku struck either side of halftime to earn Chelsea a 2-1 win over Brighton &amp; Hove Albion on Wednesday, sending the London club into the final day of the Premier League season in sixth place.

Palmer turned in Marc Cucurella's cross with a powerful header in the 34th minute to claim the 22nd league goal of his outstanding debut season and put the visitors in front at the Amex Stadium. Nkunku side-footed home Malo Gusto's cutback in the 64th minute to double Chelsea's lead, but they then lost substitute Reece James to a straight red card for a petulant kick out at Joao Pedro in the 88th minute.

Danny Welbeck snatched a goal back for the hosts when he latched on to Pedro's cross in the seventh minute of stoppage time, ensuring a frenetic end to the match, but Chelsea held on to win a fourth consecutive league game for the first time this season.

Cucurella, who was given a torrid reception by the home fans on his return to his former club, thought he had earned a penalty when he went down following a corner in the 15th minute, but the decision was overturned after a VAR check.

Victory sent Chelsea into their final match against Bournemouth on Sunday with hope still alive of qualifying for the Europa League, despite a horrendous start to their campaign.

Mauricio Pochettino's men began the season with one win in their first six league matches and three in their first 10, but are finishing strong, with just one defeat in their last 14 league outings.

Brighton, who are 10th, end the season at home to Manchester United.

Former Manchester United manager Ralf Ragnick pulled out of negotiations at the last moment and opted to stay with the Austria national team. Julian Nagelsmann also opted likewise and extended his deal with the German national side. The club’s first-choice target Xabi Alonso also rejected Bayern's approach and extended his contract at Bayer Leverkusen. It is rumoured that Tuchel has the ball in his court and could now settle to stay at Bayern once the doors for a switch to Manchester United are closed. He had a solid end to the Bayern campaign having led them to the semifinals of the Champions League before a controversial referring decision denied him a place in the final. His side is set to finish second in the Bundesliga, needing a point on the final day against Hoffenheim.

Thomas Tuchel likely to stay at Bayern Munich as Manchester United hopes fade: Reports

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag was seemingly booed by a section of fans at Old Trafford as he addressed the crowd, following the culmination of the Premier League match against Newcastle United.

It was the final home match of the season for United and Ten Hag took the microphone to rouse the fans, before the FA Cup final, later this month.&nbsp;

While the Dutchman's speech earned cheers and applause, it was also greeted with boos as the fans made it clear they were not impressed with the season United had endured.&nbsp;&nbsp;

"On behalf of players staff, I would like to thank you all for your brilliant support this season. As you know it wasn't an easy season but one thing remained constant and that was the backing of you for the team," said Ten Hag.&nbsp;

"But this season is not over yet, we go to Brighton and then we go to Wembley and I promise you those players will give everything to win that cup and bring it to Old Trafford and we are sure you will be there supporting us," he added.&nbsp;

Although it remains unclear if the booing came from the home fans or away fans who had stayed back, much later after the match.&nbsp;

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag booed after final match at Old Trafford

Erik ten Hag has hit back at Wayne Rooney's comments that some of Manchester United players who were seemingly injured were actually fit enough to play but refused to do so to avoid the heat.

Erik ten Hag has hit back at Wayne Rooney's comments that some of Manchester United players who were seemingly injured were actually fit enough to play but refused to do so to avoid the heat. The United manager retaliated saying all of his injured players were "desperate" to be involved. The Dutch manager has been without his top players throughout the season, with the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rasford and Harry Maguire facing a race against time in order to be fit for the Wembley FA Cup final against Manchester City. “No. You have to see here in Carrington [at the training centre] the players are desperate to play. I see Licha [Lisandro] Martínez, I see Bruno [Fernandes] – he did a fitness test on Sunday to play. [Marcus] Rashford did everything he could do. He trained and tried to train last week but he didn’t make it," Ten Hag said. "Players are desperate to play, they want to be in the right shape. You see also Victor Lindelöf and Raphaël Varane, they are training to make themselves available for the [FA Cup] final. They do what they can do.” What did Rooney say? Notably, after the match against Arsenal where United suffered a 0-1 loss, following a first-half goal from Leandro Trossard, Rooney made the sensational claim. The former United captain said: "As we look at the injuries they've picked up, some of those players can play, 100 per cent." "When you have the European Championship coming up and an FA Cup final, it's easy for players to stay out of it a little bit, get back for the final and make sure they're ready for the European Championship. I've seen it myself over the years," added Rooney. Rooney, who was recently fired as Birmingham City manager, said the brunt of players pulling out of the matches will be then faced by Ten Hag who has to square up against the media. "The players who are injured are not filling themselves in any credit at the minute. The manager is going to take all the stick for that." Erik ten Hag hits back at Wayne Rooney’s claim about United players faking injuries

Raphael Varane announced on Tuesday (May 14) he will leave Manchester United at the end of the season when his contract expires following a three-year spell at Old Trafford.

Raphael Varane announced on Tuesday (May 14) he will leave Manchester United at the end of the season when his contract expires following a three-year spell at Old Trafford. The former France defender, 31, arrived at the club from Real Madrid in 2021 for an initial fee of about £34 million ($43 million) and has made 93 appearances, scoring twice. He was part of the team that won the club's first trophy in six years, the 2023 Carabao Cup. But United have endured a nightmare season, languishing in eighth place in the Premier League with 14 defeats and unlikely to qualify for Europe. Varane, whose United career has been disrupted by injuries, has not played since a 4-3 defeat to Chelsea on April 4 but hopes to be available again before the end of the campaign. "To you guys, supporters of Manchester United it's been an amazing few years to play for this special club and wear that shirt," Varane said on social media. "The first time I went to Old Trafford as a Man United player was insane, the atmosphere was amazing." "I fell in love with the club, with the fans. You have to play for Man United to understand what that represents." The 2018 World Cup winner added: "Despite the fact we had a difficult season, I'm very positive for the future. The new owners (United co-owner Jim Ratcliffe) are coming with a clear plan and a great strategy." United manager Erik ten Hag is hopeful Varane can go out by playing a part in winning another trophy in the FA Cup final later this month. Also read | England manager Gareth Southgate provides update on replacing Erik ten Hag at Manchester United 'We plan for him' Newcastle visit Old Trafford on Wednesday before United travel to Brighton on the final day of the Premier League season on Sunday. "We plan [for] him," said Ten Hag on Tuesday. "Definitely for the last games. Not tomorrow but we hope for Sunday and then, of course, for the last game (the FA Cup final)." United issued a statement saying Varane had confirmed his exit, saying he had brought a "great deal of class and experience to the team". "It is unflappable work at the heart of the defence that Rapha is most recognised for, as he has shown his undoubted quality since joining the club," the club added. Varane is one of the most decorated defenders of his generation, winning four Champions Leagues and three La Liga titles during a 10-year spell at Madrid. He was also central to France's 2018 World Cup win and a run to the 2022 World Cup final. However, he retired from international football at just 29, citing the extreme physical and mental pressures put upon top players. "The very highest level is like a washing machine, you play all the time and you never stop," he told French TV station Canal+. "We have overloaded schedules and play non-stop. Right now, I feel like I'm suffocating and that the player is gobbling up the man." Varane has also spoken out about concerns regarding the impact concussions suffered by players could have in later life.

Arsenal kept their Premier League title dreams alive by ending an Old Trafford hoodoo to grind out a 1-0 win at Manchester United on Sunday to move back top of the table.

Leandro Trossard scored the only goal in the 20th minute&nbsp;as Arsenal won for just the second time in 17 games away at United to go a point clear at the summit.

Manchester City still have the chance of holding the title in their own hands as the defending champions have two matches left to Arsenal's one.

However, the Gunners kept the pressure on Pep Guardiola's men ahead of their tricky trip to Tottenham on Tuesday.

Defeat further dented United's chances of competing in Europe next season.

Erik ten Hag's men showed more spirit than in a dismal 4-0 defeat to Crystal Palace on Monday (May 6), but have now won just one of their last eight Premier League games.

United remain eighth in the table, three points adrift of both Newcastle, who they face on Wednesday, and Chelsea.

<h2>A scintillating 2024 for Gunners</h2>

Arsenal have been in scintillating form in 2024 to remain in the race for their first league title in 20 years.

Mikel Arteta's men have won 15 and drawn one of their 17 league games since the turn of the year.

But Arsenal were far from their flowing best as the expected onslaught of an injury-ravaged United never materialised under unusually stifling heat in England's north-west.

The manner of defeat at Palace had increased the scrutiny on United boss Ten Hag.

He made three changes to the team swept aside at Selhurst Park as Scott McTominay,&nbsp; Sofyan Amrabat&nbsp;and&nbsp;Amad Diallo came in.

The Dutchman's options were again hamstrung by a lengthy list of absentees with captain Bruno Fernandes among those sidelined and a bench littered with youngsters.

But his decision to retain Casemiro as a makeshift centre-back after his woeful showing against Palace will become another stick to beat the beleaguered coach with.

The Brazil captain was dropped from their squad for the Copa America in midweek due to his terrible form.

Arsenal overcome Manchester United challenge to go top of Premier League table

Manchester United home Old Trafford depicted its&nbsp;team's conditions perfectly after&nbsp;rain wreaked havoc on the stadium following 1-0 loss against Arsenal on Sunday (May 12). The facility, after the 41 mm rainfall, had a waterfall during the rain, thanks to a leak in the roof between the East stand and the Sir Alex Ferguson stand.

The conditions gave all the more reason to&nbsp;back&nbsp;new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliff's keenness to develop the stadium. Several videos shared on social media showed the waterfall at Old Trafford and water cascading underneath the seats along with leaking roofs inside the facility as well. Waterfall at Old Trafford from leaking roof after incessant rain summarises Manchester United season | VIDEO

England boss Gareth Southgate has rebuffed the talks linking him to a potential move to Manchester United to replace under-fire Erik ten Hag at the end of the season. Southgate said his attention was firmly on the upcoming Euros and that he intended to see out his contract with the Three Lions.&nbsp;

Ten Hag's second season with United has been a complete bust with the team on the brink of finishing without any European football next summer. Naturally, there have been rumours that the United board was seeking a replacement, with Southgate at the top of the list of candidates to replace the Dutchman.&nbsp;

"I’ve got one thing to focus on. That’s having as successful a tournament with England as possible. Everything else outside of that is a complete irrelevance to me," Southgate was quoted as saying by BBC.

"Well, for me, it's not an issue [distractions]&nbsp;and never has been. I have to deliver a successful tournament for England and there's enough work involved in that. I think everybody would expect that's where my focus should be," he added.&nbsp;

Southgate's current contract with England expires in December and Euro 2024 is the last opportunity for him to win a silverware with, arguably, the most talented England squad ever assembled in recent times.&nbsp;

"There will always be speculation about managers because if you lose a couple of games, you're in trouble - you win a couple of games and it is a different agenda," said Southgate.&nbsp;

"But for me, it [Euro 2024] is a brilliant opportunity. We're looking forward to the tournament. My focus is on how do we go a step further than we went in the last Euros [when they were beaten on penalties in the final by Italy]."

In what comes a major security breach, a YouTube prankster who had previously crashed the BAFTAs, managed to sneak past the security apparatus and into the Manchester United team bus, following their 4-0 defeat at Selhurst Park on Monday (May 6), according to a report in The Athletic. The YouTuber, going by the moniker of Lizwani, was reportedly dressed in a United tracksuit as he entered the bus at Crystal Palace's home stadium. Not only did Lizwani manage to sneak past the security guards but he also found a seat on the bus as Erik ten Hag's side prepared to head back to Manchester. He was only spotted afterwards by United's security guards and peacefully removed from the bus. While the matter was resolved 'amicably', those involved in the matter have described it as a substantial security breach. The Premier League has sent a diktat to all 20 clubs, warning them to be on the lookout for repeats. CCTV footage is being examined by the club officials, in an attempt to scrutinise the prankster's movements and ascertain how he was able to pull off the rather dangerous stunt. United were outplayed in front of a vociferous Selhurst Park as Oliver Glasner's men toyed with the record Premier League champions. Ten Hag was left scratching his head as United looked shaky, ginger and too timid to take on the technically superior Palace players. Lizwani's BAFTA stunt Notably, Lizwani made headlines in March when he sneaked onto the stage as the cast and crew of Oppenheimer received their BAFTA award for best film. He managed to stand alongside the likes of director Christopher Nolan, actor Cillian Murphy and producer Emma Thomas. The YouTuber claimed that he remained at the BAFTAs for over an hour before the event security caught him. He was handed over to the police who made him delete the footage he had taken on the night. Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has hit back at pundits amid the mounting criticism against him. Ten Hag said most of those speaking about his team didn't have any knowledge of the game or about managing a football team.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has hit back at pundits amid the mounting criticism against him. Ten Hag said most of those speaking about his team didn't have any knowledge of the game or about managing a football team. Ten Hag's statement comes ahead of United's Super Sunday clash against Arsenal at Old Trafford. A win could derail Arsenal's title charge while a loss could be the final nail in the coffin for Ten Hag's departure from United. "In almost every game except Palace, they have fought. There is a good team spirit. We saw it against Brentford, Chelsea, Liverpool, Coventry until 70 minutes," said Ten Hag during the press conference. "They were resilient against Sheffield United, and the physical output against Burnley, their third game in six days, was incredible. I see some comments (from pundits). Either they don't have any knowledge of football or managing a football team," he added. United need to win their remaining matches to stay in contention for securing a place in European football next season. While a spot in the Champions League looks impossible, United could still push for a place in the Conference League. Also read | Jose Mourinho admits Man United "still have couple of players" he didn't want at the club Ten Hag's previous outburst This is not the first instance when the Dutchman has had a go at those criticising him for United's woeful season. Last month, Ten Hag hit out at media, calling their assessment of United's FA Cup semifinal victory over Coventry City as "embarrassing". The United team came under scrutiny despite advancing to the final after blowing away a 3-0 lead before a controversial VAR call bailed them out. Ten Hag was intensely scrutinised by the media as United once again failed to play a convincing brand of football. "One question was: "Is it embarrassing? No, the reaction from you [the media] was embarrassing," said Ten Hag. "Top football is about results, we made it to a final and we deserved it, not only by this game but also the other games. We lost control for 20 minutes, we also had bad luck. We were very lucky in the end, it is clear," he added. The FA Cup remains the sole saving grace for United as they face Manchester City in the final later this month. As for the Premier League, the record champions languish at the eighth spot in the points table with 54 points. (With inputs from agencies)

Manchester United will have a huge summer to decide the future of several personalities at the club as the 20-time English champions go through another phase of transition. While Erik ten&nbsp;Hag’s&nbsp;future is still in limbo, Mason Greenwood will also face an uncertain future at the club as&nbsp;key&nbsp;decisions will be taken on&nbsp;whether he should continue at the club or not. However, according to Getafe President Angel Torres, Greenwood&nbsp;won’t&nbsp;return to the club and could continue with the Spanish side.&nbsp;

Premier League: Controversial Man Utd attacker Mason Greenwood won't return to club - Getafe chief

Outgoing Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel has hinted at a return to the Premier League as he enters the final chapter of his stint with the German giants. Tuchel will be on the sidelines on Wednesday (May 8) evening when Bayern play Real Madrid in the Champions League second leg at the Santiago Bernabeu. The former Chelsea boss will be a free agent in the summer&nbsp;with&nbsp;Bayern having already announced his departure from the club.&nbsp;

Thomas Tuchel said on his potential return to Premier League: “I’d rather not answer… but it is no secret that I loved it at Chelsea, I loved it in England&nbsp;and&nbsp;I loved it in the Premier League for sure”.

“It was a very, very&nbsp;special time in England,”&nbsp;Tuchel told TNT Sports.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta could miss the all-important final Premier League match of the season against Everton later this month. With a title on the line, Arteta is walking a tightrope and any disciplinary action against him could lead to a touchline ban, which may have a negative effect on the team's morale.&nbsp;

Heading into the penultimate match against Manchester United, Arteta has received five yellow cards - the most a manager has accumulated this season. Another yellow card against the Red Devils on the Old Trafford turf would mean a one-game suspension for the Spanish manager.&nbsp;

With the tempers expected to flare, as they usually do in fixtures of such magnitude, it would augur best for Arteta and Arsenal that he keeps a calm demeanour. A suspension would result in Arteta's team playing in front of relegation battlers, Everton, without his guidance.&nbsp;

<h2>Everton halt title challengers&nbsp;</h2>

The Toffees, under manager Sean Dyche, have already shown that they are capable of halting title charges. Cross-city rivals Liverpool found it the hard way last month when the title challengers succumbed to a 0-2 defeat and fell behind in the race against Arsenal and Manchester City. &nbsp;

The Arsenal gaffer has already faced suspension once thus season after receiving three yellow cards following a booking against Luton Town. He was forced to miss the Gunners' trip to Aston Villa in December and his side were beaten 1-0, showing the significant impact his absence had on the team. December was the month where Arsenal lost steam in the title race before roaring back to form.&nbsp;

Arsenal are currently leading the Premier League points table, having collected 83 points in 36 matches played. Manchester City are on second spot with 82 points but have a game in hand and could potentially leapfrog Arsenal after the match against Fulham on Saturday (May 11).&nbsp;

The calculation is simple for Arsenal to win its first Premier League title in nearly two decades. The London-based team needs to win all its matches and hope that City drop a point or lose one of their matches. As for Liverpool, a lot hinges on both Arsenal and City imploding at the final hurdle which looks highly unlikely at this stage.&nbsp;

Could Mikel Arteta miss Arsenal’s potential title-decider against Everton? Here's how

English commentator and former player Jamie Carragher lashed out at the Manchester United star players for talking on the pitch following their heavy drubbing at the hands of Crystal Palace in their Premier League encounter on Monday (May 6). In their away encounter, United were left shellshocked as they lost 4-0 to Palace as the ongoing PL season continues to be a sorry affair for them.

Post the match, United star players -- namely&nbsp;Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Antony -- were seen talking and whispering on the pitch which wasn't well received by former Liverpool player-turned-commentator Carragher. The veteran schooled the United players for their 'embarrassing' act.&nbsp;

Talking on Sky Sports, Carragher said, "Just get off the pitch! Talking, whispering behind your hand - you've been absolutely awful. You're probably talking about one of the players or somebody else or the setup or the manager. Just get off the pitch, shut up and get in. You've been beaten 4-0... whispering, talking about other players. Honestly, embarrassing."

<h2>'No United team should be getting beat 4-0 by Palace'</h2>

Carragher further opined, "Your performance level will drop when you lose your best players. Ten Hag needs performances. He needs belief. You've got to make us believe there's something here. I struggled to see how United would win tonight. No United team should be getting beat 4-0 by Palace. Man United's U23 team, I'd still expect them not to lose 4-0."

He added, "I've never been a coach or a manager, but I've been a player and some of the things I see are just wrong."

'Shut up & get in': Carragher SLAMS Man United stars for talking on pitch after drubbing vs Crystal Palace

Manchester United's woes continued as they were thrashed 4-0 by Crystal Palace in their Premier League encounter on Monday (May 6). The loss has put more pressure on Erik Ten Hag to continue as the team manager for the next season. While there has been heavy criticism, the Dutchman stated that he 'will keep fighting' and 'find the energy' to prepare the team for the next game with nine points to play for&nbsp;this season.

Following their big defeat at the hands of Crystal Palace, United are in the eighth spot with three league games in hand, at the brink of attaining&nbsp;several unwanted records.

The Red Devils currently have a club-record number of losses (13) in a Premier League season. Notably, they have already faced their most shots (618) in a single campaign. Thus, if they let in three more goals in&nbsp;this term, it will set a new mark for their most conceded in a season.

After the loss, Ten Hag told SkySports, "I will keep fighting, I have prepared the team in the best way I can. It (the performance) was not good enough and I have to take the responsibility for that."

"But I will find the energy and prepare them for the next game. We have nine points to play for and we have to fight for those," he stated.

United had a tough time against Palace&nbsp;from the word go. Heading into the game with injury issues, the former champions were forced to play midfielder Casemiro at centre-back. This led to him being exposed on a number of occasions as Palace’s mobile front three pulled their visitors apart.

However, Ten Hag refused to put the blame on Casemiro and said, "You can’t put it on one player, it is a team performance. We did not adapt to the different situations. It’s clear, we didn’t act how we want to, it’s not good enough."

He added, "There are always reasons, everyone could see our backline today, where we had huge problems. But at the end of the day, we have to deal with these issues and we should have done better."

Premier League: Underfire Erik Ten Hag says he will 'keep fighting' after Man United's loss vs Crystal Palace

Michael Olise scored a brace of goals as Crystal Palace completed a league double over Manchester&nbsp;United&nbsp;for the first time in their history with a thumping 4-0 victory at Selhurst Park on Monday that will add to the pressure on Erik ten Hag. A makeshift&nbsp;United&nbsp;defence that included Casemiro at centre-back was easily picked apart by Palace on several occasions as Jean-Philippe Mateta and Tyrick Mitchell were also on the scoresheet in the impressive win.

United&nbsp;remain in eighth place with 54 points from 35 games, two points behind Newcastle&nbsp;United&nbsp;in sixth, with their hopes of European football next season fading fast. Palace are still in 14th with 43 points from 36 matches.

United&nbsp;had several injury absentees and were without Bruno Fernandes, the first time in his 230-game Old Trafford career he has missed a match with injury, but the ease with which they were beaten will be a huge concern for everyone at the club.

"A big disappointment. We just had an off-day and we weren't in it," midfielder Christian Eriksen told BBC. "It is what it is. We can't really change the injury things. We have to do what we can on the pitch to change it. "Today it didn't matter who we played. Everyone could have done better. We tried to do what we could but we were not good enough. We'll take the blame as players."

It is the first time in the Premier League era&nbsp;United&nbsp;have lost 13 games in a season and the scoreline might have been worse.

The home side took the lead inside 12 minutes as Olise collected a throw and evaded a limp challenge from Casemiro. With no&nbsp;United&nbsp;player attempting to close him down, he was able to unleash a low shot from just inside the box.

It was 2-0 five minutes before the break as Mateta breezed past&nbsp;United&nbsp;defender Jonny Evans and thrashed the ball into the net for a ninth goal in 11 games since the arrival of Glasner in February.

The striker had scored 11 goals in his previous 80 games for Palace before that. United’s makeshift defence was struggling to contain the movement of their hosts and when Diogo Dalot failed to deal with a ball to the back post, Mitchell had a tap-in.

Olise’s second goal added more salt to the wound and it could have been worse for the visitors as Odsonne Edouard saw his shot come back off the woodwork late on. "I think we could have got a few more. That shows the potential we have to play against any team in the league," Palace defender Chris Richards said.

We have to do what we can on the pitch to change it. "Today it didn't matter who we played. Everyone could have done better. We tried to do what we could but we were not good enough. We'll take the blame as players." Also read: Official! West Ham manager David Moyes to depart at end of Premier League season It is the first time in the Premier League era United have lost 13 games in a season and the scoreline might have been worse. The home side took the lead inside 12 minutes as Olise collected a throw and evaded a limp challenge from Casemiro. With no United player attempting to close him down, he was able to unleash a low shot from just inside the box. It was 2-0 five minutes before the break as Mateta breezed past United defender Jonny Evans and thrashed the ball into the net for a ninth goal in 11 games since the arrival of Glasner in February.

Premier League: Makeshift Manchester United thumped 4-0 by Crystal Palace

Former Liverpool player-turned-pundit, Jamie Carragher, has given a scathing assessment of Casemiro's struggles at Manchester United since his big-money move from Real Madrid. The midfielder was deployed in a makeshift backline by manager Erik ten Hag during the 0-4 defeat to&nbsp;Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Monday (May 6)&nbsp;and also sported the captain's armband due to the absence of Bruno Fernandes.&nbsp;

The multiple times Champions League winner had a torrid time in the field as he was directly responsible for two of Palace's four goals.&nbsp;

"I said at half-time that he had to bring Casemiro off. I know he’s got kids on the bench but I think Casemiro, I am being deadly serious, should know himself tonight as an experienced player, that he should only have another three games at the top level, the next two league games and the cup final, and thinking I need to go the MLS or Saudi," said Carragher on Sky Sports.&nbsp;

Carragher added that the Brazilian needed to leave football at the highest level before his legacy was ruined.&nbsp;

"I am nowhere near the level of what that man achieved, but I always remember something when I retired. It was a saying I always remember as a footballer. Leave the football before the football leaves you. The football has left him at the top level. He needs to call it a day at this level of football and move."

<h2>Ten Hag defends Casemiro</h2>

Despite the criticism coming Casemiro's way, Ten Hag refused to put the blame on the midfielder, saying the team failed as a whole.&nbsp;

"You can’t put it on one player, it is a team performance. We did not adapt to the different situations. It’s clear, we didn’t act how we want to, it’s not good enough."

"There are always reasons, everyone could see our backline today, where we had huge problems. But at the end of the day, we have to deal with these issues and we should have done better," he added.&nbsp;

While Casemiro's dwindling form with age is to blame for the poor performances, he hasn't been aided by Ten Hag's tactical structure going into the matches. Often, United frontline press is disjointed from the midfield and defence, leading to longer gaps in the middle which every opposition has seemingly exploited this season.&nbsp;

On most instances, Ten Hag has been bailed out by individual brilliance from the likes of Fernandes or Marcus Rashford but the technical deficiencies in his tactics are being found out by good teams.&nbsp;

Former Liverpool star tells Man United's Casemiro to leave for MLS or Saudi

Bruno Fernandes is happy at Manchester United and will remain at the Premier League club next season, manager Erik Ten Hag said amid speculation over the midfielder's future. In an interview with DAZN last week, Fernandes said he would consider his future at United after this year's European Championship and that he would only stay in Manchester if both he and the club want him to.

Asked about Fernandes' comments, Ten Hag told reporters: "That was taken out of context. I know he is Manchester United and I think he is very happy to be here." The Dutch manager said he "definitely" expects Fernandes to see out his contract, which runs until 2026, and highlighted the importance of the Portuguese international as a role model for other players in the team.

"Taking responsibility is one of the biggest assets top footballers have nowadays to show and to deliver," Ten Hag added. "Bruno is a very good example for many other players. He is a real fighter. Last year when we played Brighton in the (FA Cup) semi-final, he played with an ankle that was so thick. It was unbelievable."

"He couldn't run but he was still on the pitch. He is always available, always delivers and always gives energy to the team. Such assets are necessary to be successful." United, who are eighth in the standings, travel to face 14th-placed Crystal Palace in a league clash later on Monday.

Erik Ten Hag expects captain Bruno Fernandes to remain at Man United next season

The war of words between Roy Keane and Erling Haaland ceases to end. The former Manchester United player-turned-pundit has slammed the Norwegian for his reaction to the substitution made by manager Pep Guardiola against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the weekend.&nbsp;

After a relatively lean patch, Haaland bagged four goals against Wolves but looked furious when he was put on the bench by the manager. Keane picked up on the matter and said Haaland was acting like a "spoiled brat".

"I think we saw Haaland yesterday brought off not too happy, behaving like a spoiled brat. I think when you have the spat as well with the manager and obviously your Star Man, it doesn't help that results aren't going your way," said Keane.&nbsp;

"But because they win the game, he scores goals it's almost forgotten about," he added.&nbsp;

Quizzed&nbsp;if Haaland's animated reaction to being subbed off was justified, Keane said: "No, no. No it's not."

Keane's statement is expected to increase the bitterness between him and Haaland as the two have been going at each other.&nbsp;

<h2>Haaland's ruthless response</h2>

After winning the match, Haaland was asked about Keane's statement, comparing him to a 'League Two' player, to which the City forward had a ruthless response.&nbsp;

“I don’t really care that much about that man, so that’s all right,” Haaland told&nbsp;Viaplay

Haaland's rather bitter response toward Keane could also stem from the long-running feud the Manchester United player had with his father Alfie Haaland.

Notably, Keane was notoriously sent off for a horrible tackle with Haaland senior in 2001. The tackle was partly responsible for Alfie having to cut short his playing career.

<h2>What did Keane say?</h2>

In March, after City and Arsenal played a goalless draw where Haaland was&nbsp;anonymous for large portions of the game, Keane launched a scathing attack on the Norwegian for being a passenger for the team.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

"The levels of his general play is so poor. Not just today, I think his laying stuff off, headers, whatever it might be - in front of goal he's the best in the world - but for his general play for such a player it is so poor," Keane told&nbsp;Sky Sports.

Despite his limitations, Haaland has been a goal-scoring machine for City who are eyeing a historical fourth Premier League title on the trot.&nbsp;

As things stand, United will have two opportunities to qualify for the Europa League – a top six finish will see them reach the second-tier competition for Europe.
