China is not only monitoring the prominent Indian personalities, other high-profile entrants too are in its radar from the accused in the AgustaWestland bribery case to hundreds accused of financial crime, corruption, terror organisation links are under China's surveillance programme.

The high profile personalities who are reportedly under China's surveillance include Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law Robert Vadra. His company "skylight hospitality private limited"&nbsp;is being probed by the Enforcement Directorate.

Former Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy, who was accused of illegally denotifying a prime plot to benefit his relatives and former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda, who was named in a Red Corner notice in a money laundering case also reportedly figure in the list.

Beijing has kept a close watch on several Indian criminals too over the years. The list includes names of the Indian fugitive Dawood Ibrahim, members of Jamat-ul-Mujaheedin, operatives of People’s Liberation Front of India who were held in Chhattisgarh in 2013 and militants of Democratic Front of Bodoland, however, Beijing has denied spying on Indian citizens and called the claims baseless.

Delhi High Court <a href="http://www.wionews.com/india-news/coal-scam-madhu-koda-gets-3-year-imprisonment-26890">today stayed the 3-year jail</a> term to former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda in the coal scam case.

The court also stayed the 25 lakh fine imposed on the former chief minister of Jharkhand, till the next date of hearing.

The Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) in 2012 had said the government had allocated coal blocks in 2004-09 in an &quot;inefficient manner&quot; leading to a CBI probe. In its report to Parliament, the CAG had said due to the allocation several companies had made&nbsp;&quot;windfall gain&quot; to the tune of $29 billion.

The CBI had named several companies in its FIR. Madu Koda was arrested in November 2009 when the scam first surfaced but was released four years later.

The Enforcement Directorate(ED) had lodged disproportionate assets case against the former chief minister including his associates.

In December last year, the lower court had convicted Koda and awarded a three-year jail term including a fine of Rs 25 lakh.

Special judge Bharat Parashar convicted the private firm and imposed a fine of Rs 50 lakh.

The convicts including Koda, however, were granted statutory bail for a period of two months to enable them to file appeals in the Delhi High Court challenging the conviction and the jail term.

The case is related to alleged irregularities in the allocation of the Rajhara North coal block in Jharkhand to Kolkata-based firm Vini Iron and Steel Udyog Ltd (VISUL).

The CBI had previously alleged that the VISUL had applied for allocation of the coal block in January 2007.

Coal Scam: Madhu Koda gets 3-year imprisonment, 2 months interim bail granted

Delhi&#39;s Special CBI court has convicted former Jharkhand chief minister Madhu Koda, former coal secretary HC Gupta, former Jharkhand chief secretary Ashok Kumar Basu and one other as guilty of criminal conspiracy in teh coal scam case.

The sentencing will take place on Thursday.

The case is related to alleged irregularities in the allocation of the Rajhara North coal block in Jharkhand to Kolkata-based firm Vini Iron and Steel Udyog Ltd (VISUL).

The CBI had alleged that the VISUL had applied for allocation of coal block in January 2007.

As per reports, it is said the 36th Screening Committee recommended the block to the VISUL&#39;s, not the Jharkhand Government and the Steel Ministry.

Gupta is said to have cleared at least 40 cases of coal mining rights and is said to have played a major role in the said scam.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has claimed that Koda, Basu and two accused public servants conspired to favour VISUL in the coal block allocation.
