Nepal on Tuesday imposed a week-long prohibitory orders in the Kathmandu valley, as the coronavirus cases in the country crossed 28,000 after more than 1,000 fresh cases were reported in a single day.

The restrictive orders have been issued by three district administration offices in the Kathmandu valley after a sudden spike in the coronavirus cases.

With the issuance of restrictive orders, people will be barred from coming out of their houses except for emergency works.

The prime minister's comments come amid the rising number of fresh virus cases in the Himalayan nation. With 59 new cases in the last 24 hours, Nepal's COVID-19 tally now stands at 21,009 with 58 deaths.

In a meeting with health experts and politicians at the prime minister's official residence in Baluwatar, Oli said the government's efforts need to be backed up by wide spread public awareness.

So far, over 400,000 tests have been conducted in Nepal. Of the 7,687 tests conducted in the last 24 hours, 259 patients were found to be COVID-19 positive, spokesperson of Ministry of Health and Population Jageshwar Gautam said in a daily briefing.

Of the new cases, 62 patients were from Kathmandu valley. On Sunday, the valley reported 31 coronavirus positive cases and on Monday 51 new cases were detected.

Presently, 5,925 patients are undergoing treatment at different health facilities. The number of recovered people rose to 15,026 after 65 people were declared virus-free in the last 24 hours, Gautam said.

However, it is highly hypocritical of the Oli government to claim righteousness as his intention behind&nbsp;the&nbsp;step when he himself made fun of India's&nbsp;motto&nbsp;'Satyamev Jayate' when he said he would ask the country if it&nbsp;believes in the principle of 'truth prevails' or the 'lion prevails'.

While Oli has raised questions on the Indian media he has very conveniently forgotten the&nbsp;objectionable content Nepal propogated against India through various sources of communication.

Nepal's FM&nbsp;channels have been beaming propaganda along India's border and anti-india speeches are being slipped in between Nepali songs&nbsp;to brainwash Indians.

Nepal says the Indian media has ''crossed all limits'' when its forces&nbsp;opened fire at the Bihar-Nepal border on June 12 and killed an Indian citizen.

Experts believe the step to be distraction amid the rising protests against Oli who thanks to stint and China's help has&nbsp;managed to keep his seat for another week.

The standing committee of the Nepal Communist Party was supposed to meet today and&nbsp;was expected to pass a resolution on Oli's political future.

Oli would have been asked to resign from one of the two posts he currently holds, that is, the prime minister of Nepal and the co-chairman of the NCP. But for now&nbsp;he will hold onto both these positions because this meeting has again been posptponed.

It is believed that Chinese forces were behind this postponement. Chinese ambassador met&nbsp;with Hou Yaqni,&nbsp;the co-chairman of the Nepal Communist Party on July 9, the same day the ban on Indian media was imposed in Nepal.

KP Sharma Oli, Prime Minister of Nepal and leader of Communist Party of Nepal, is in unmanageable crisis right now. A faction in his own party, led by former PM and Maoist sympathizer Pushpa Kamal Dahal (Prachanda), wants him to resign.

He is losing his support on the ground over various governance issues. China has also reportedly annexed the Rui village of Nepal against which opposition parties have protested. According to reports, China has gradually made inroads into several Nepalese territories with an ulterior aim to seize complete control.

Amidst the crisis, Oli once again targetted India to gather sympathies. On June 28, he alleged that meetings were organised in the New Delhi to remove him from the post of PM. This statement, however, backfired. A 44-member standing committee meeting was organised two days later in which chorus for his exit became louder. The Himalayan Times, leading Nepali daily, has reported that “party co-chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal asked PM Oli to quit owing to the government’s gross and all-around incompetence.”&nbsp;

It is a long-standing policy of India not to interfere in the domestic politics of any other nation. Oli’s statement can create mistrust and suspicion towards India among common Nepalese people. Consequently,&nbsp;if Oli is removed then India will be considered an invisible factor behind it.&nbsp;

To cover his incompetence, Oli has already provoked Nepalese territorial nationalism. His government brought a constitutional amendment to incorporate&nbsp;Indian territories Kala Pani, Limpiyadhura and Lipulekh in the political map of Nepal.&nbsp;

Sarita Giri, Nepalese parliamentarian from the socialist party, had opposed this amendment and she proposed that it should be dropped. As a result, her home was attacked by protesters raising racist slogans against India and she was threatened to leave the country. Her party didn't stand by her, instead, it warned her with expulsion. This was the result of protesting Oli’s proposed amendment.&nbsp;

This constitutional amendment, with the support of main opposition party Nepali Congress and other opposition parties, was passed in both houses of parliament. Madeshi parties, which generally stand with India, also supported this amendment. If they had not supported amendment then Oli or his supporters would have labelled them as a “traitor” or as an “Indian agent”.&nbsp;

Oli is using India as a scapegoat to hide his incompetence at every level. This constant anti-India rhetoric by Oli could cause&nbsp;unimaginable damage to&nbsp;Indo-Nepal relations.

Even,&nbsp;the main opposition party did not endorsed Oli’s plans. In fact, several politicians in Nepal see this as political opportunism.&nbsp;

They believe that&nbsp;the new maps were&nbsp;an effort to invoke Gorkha nationalism for personal gains.&nbsp;

The Indian army also recruits soldiers from Nepal.

There are seven Gorkha regiments in the Indian army which make up almost 40 battalions. Most of the soldiers in these battalions are recruited from Nepal.

India supports more than one lakh pensioners (defence and civil) and dependents in Nepal.&nbsp;

The Indian mission in Kathmandu has a pension branch. In the 2016-17 financial year, it had disbursed almost 2,800 crores to Nepalese citizens.
