<p>When Shahana’s family couldn’t fulfill all of their demands, Ruwais’s parents called off the wedding, forcing the 26-year-old to take the extreme step.</p>

<p>She also reportedly left a suicide note in which she wrote, "Everyone wants money only".</p>

<p>A police complaint was later registered against the boyfriend under the abetment to suicide charge and dowry prevention laws. He was arrested on Wednesday night, PTI news agency reported.</p>

<p>Shahana is survived by&nbsp;her mother and two siblings. Her father, who worked in the Gulf, died two years ago.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Meanwhile, the Women and Child Development department has been asked to conduct a probe into the matter and submit a report on the same.</p>

<p>The Kerala High Court had denied permission for medical termination of the pregnancy of a 14-year-old girl who had carried the foetus for 30 weeks. The petition seeking abortion was filed by the girl's mother. Justice Devan Ramachandran dismissed the request saying that this was not a case in which the "victim child's health was at risk" due to the pregnancy nor were any lethal deformities detected in the foetus.</p>

<p>The girl's mother was seeking permission for medical termination of pregnancy saying that her daughter was raped and the accused was booked under the Protection of the Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The court observed that the girl's pregnancy was nearly in its ninth&nbsp;month and that the foetus was gaining weight and fat which was getting closer to its birth weight.</p>

<p>"Its vital organs, like the brain and lungs, are almost fully developed, preparing for life outside the womb. Obviously, therefore, this court cannot accede to the request of the petitioner; though I am in full empathy with the condition she and her family are going through, particularly because the victim child is so young," the judge said in his order, as reported by Press Trust of India.</p>

<p>A medical report about the pregnancy indicated that the status was "30 weeks of gestation with a good foetal heart". The court took the medical report into consideration during the proceedings.</p>

<p>"The foetus has, in fact, life with heart rate, and hence, termination of the pregnancy at this stage is impossible, as also untenable," the court said.</p>

Police find minor girl in Kerala 21 hours after abduction by four-member gang

Four students have lost their lives in a stampede at the Cochin University of Science and Technology in the Indian state of Kerala. The stampede happened during a music tech festival at the University. Apart from four deaths over 60 people have been injured some of whom are in critical condition.

<p>Four people died and 60 others were injured in a stampede during a concert at the CUSAT University in the southern Indian state of Kerala on Saturday (Nov 25). According to the news agency ANI, Municipal Councilor Pramod said the exit and entrance at the same gate led to the stampede.</p>

<p>"Students were trying to enter through the same gate. Students who were entering through the steep steps fell first and the huge crowd at the gate stomped them again and again," Pramod said.</p>

<p>The concert was being held in the open-air auditorium on the campus, Kerala Health Minister Veena George said. Health Minister George was coordinating treatment facilities at the state-run Medical College and Hospital at Kalamassery.&nbsp;</p>

<p>While the temple authorities have not yet started to feed the new crocodile, various departments, including the Forest department, have been informed about the reptile's sighting.</p>

<p>Police in India's southern stat6e of Kerala, on Tuesday (Oct 31), launched a probe against Union Minister of State Rajeev Chandrasekhar for allegedly making statements on social media that stirred religious enmity after a series of blasts at Jehovah’s Witnesses convention, on Sunday (Oct 29), claimed the lives of three and wounded nearly 50 others.</p>

<p>Chandrasekhar was booked for the offences under sections 153 (wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause riot) and 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence) of the IPC and section 120 (o) (causing nuisance and violation of public order) of the Kerala Police Act.</p>

<p>As per news agency PTI reports, the FIR against the central minister filed on the complaint by a sub-inspector (SI) of the Cyber Cell of the Kochi city police, stated that Chandrasekhar posted statements and videos on his social media accounts with the intention of disruption.</p>

<h2><strong>Chandrasekhar hits out at Congress</strong></h2>

<p>Chandrasekhar took to his official X account and hit out at the Congress party saying that the FIR against him was registered for exposing the 'appeasement of Hamas' by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.</p>

India: Kerala police book Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar for ‘promoting religious enmity’

<p>Dominic Martin, the man who claimed responsibility for the <a href="https://www.wionews.com/india-news/kerala-serial-blasts-delhi-mumbai-up-on-alert-centre-sends-nsg-team-to-kerala-652672">deadly blasts</a> in the Indian state of Kerala at the Jehovah’s Witnesses Convention in Kochi was arrested earlier on Monday (Oct 30). This comes a day after the 57-year-old former English teacher said that he was behind the blast that killed three people and injured dozens of others.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Kerala Police’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) formally arrested Martin under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act as well as the Explosives Substances Act and charges of murder.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Kochi Police Commissioner A Akbar, as per reports, said that the 57-year-old was arrested after a detailed questioning and that the investigation team has reasonable doubts to believe that he is the one who committed the crime.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>What are the charges against the accused?</strong></h2>

<p>According to Kerala’s Director General of Police, the blasts took place due to an improvised explosive device (IED). Hours after the incident, Martin, who had surrendered, released a video of himself on Facebook in which he can be heard spewing hatred against a community.&nbsp;</p>

The blasts occurred during the convention of the <a href="https://www.wionews.com/india-news/explained-who-are-jehovahs-witnesses-the-christian-community-targeted-in-kerala-serial-blasts-652790">Jehovah’s Witnesses</a>, a Christian religious group that originated in the United States in the 19th century.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Kochi police commissioner said Martin has been charged with Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), section 3 of the Explosive Substances Act, and Section 16 of UAPA.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>‘Detailed questioning’</strong></h2>

<p>The 57-year-old’s arrest came after hours of questioning by the state police and other law enforcement agencies including the National Investigation Agency (NIA).&nbsp;</p>

<p>The police also said that the initial probe indicates that Martin acted alone to gather the materials, build the IED bomb, planting and detonating them when the group had gathered for the final day of a three-day-long prayer meeting.&nbsp;<br />

“The accused was questioned in detail. Apart from that, other evidence was also collected by the investigation team. Based on that, the team has reasonable grounds to believe that the person has committed the crime,” a SIT official&nbsp;told reporters.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He added, "Whether there was any assistance rendered by anybody or if there were any other person involved, all these will be subjected to a detailed investigation."&nbsp;</p>

<p>The suspect is expected to be presented before a court on Tuesday (Oct 31) while the investigation team may collect more evidence, including if there was another person involved in the blasts and probe if there are other reasons for Martin’s anger towards the Jehovah’s Witnesses community.</p>

<p>Without naming Rajeev Chandrashekhar, the Information and Technology Minister, the chief minister read out a statement of him during a press conference in Thiruvananthapuram.</p>

<p>"Dirty shameless appeasement politics by a discredited CM (and HM) @pinarayivijayan besieged by corruption charges. Sitting in Delhi and protesting against Israel, when in Kerala open calls by Terrorist Hamas for Jihad is causing attacks and bomb blasts on innocent Christians."</p>

<p>Pinarayi said this came from a communal mindset.</p>

<p>"This is a highly prejudiced approach with a clear intention to target a particular community. It is part of their communal agenda," Pinarayi said.</p>

<p>"On what basis has he made these statements? Was he in possession of any sensitive information that prompted him to make such a statement? This is a grave issue. People should not be misled. We will take this on legally," he added, according to online news outlet Onmanorama.</p>

<h2><strong>CM slams BJP</strong></h2>

<p>Attacking other BJP leaders who also responded on similar lines, he said those who were with the minister also came out with similar statements.</p>

<p>"A person who holds the post of minister should have shown at least some respect to the investigating agencies. Though the Kerala police is probing the incident now, we all saw reports that central agencies have also reached the site," the CM said.</p>

<p>“A situation of spreading hatred against a faith, or of viewing a community or a person with suspicion cannot be allowed. The forces that try to whip up such thoughts of disintegration should be seen as common enemies of our country and our people. All political parties and individuals are committed to take this thought to society,” the resolution said.</p>

<p>It also urged people to not pay heed to rumours.</p>

<p>Two people were killed and around 56 others were injured in multiple blasts at&nbsp;a Sunday prayer convention of the Jehovah’s Witnesses sect&nbsp;in Kalamassery, located in Ernakulam district of the Indian state of Kerala.&nbsp;<br />

The blasts are suspected to be a terror attack. More fire units and police personnel reached the site of the blast.<br />

Kochi city police commissioner and Anti-terrorist police personnel were also present at the site and Intelligence ADGP is expected to reach Kalamassery. As per media reports, the blasts' site was cordoned off and the fire rescue team and police were pressed into service, said Kerala Industries Minister P Rajeev.</p>

<p>Speaking to regional Indian channels, Assistant Commissioner ACP Thrikkakara said that one person was killed and 20 to 25 people were injured in the blasts which took place within 5-10 seconds.<br />

“Situation is in control, according to initial investigation, two blasts happened in 5 to 10 seconds… Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) teams are at the spot. The investigation will give clarity on whether this was a bomb blast,” he added.</p>

<h2><strong>State government asks doctors to report on duty</strong></h2>

<p>As per ANI, Kerala Health Minister Veena George appealed to all government healthcare professionals to report for duty, even those who were on leave, after the blast occurred. She further asked the Director of the Health Department and the Director of the Medical Education Department to give the best treatment to those injured in the blasts.<br />

The minister also gave instructions to prepare for additional facilities at Kalamassery Medical College, Ernakulam General Hospital and Kottayam Medical College.</p>

<p>Reacting to the incident, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said, “It's a very unfortunate incident. We are collecting details regarding the incident. All top officials are there in Ernakulam. DGP is moving to the spot. We are taking it very seriously. I have spoken to DGP. We need to get more details after the investigation.”<br />

According to preliminary probe, the blasts at convention centre in Kalamassery were due to IEDs,&nbsp;news agency PTI quoted Kerala DGP as saying. He said that the police is investigating all angles, and an SIT will be constituted to carry out the investigation.<br />

Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to Kerala CM&nbsp;Vijayan and took stock of the situation. He has also directed the National Security Guard (NSG) and the anti-terror probe agency National Investigation Agency (NIA) to send teams to Kerala to assist in investigation.</p>

<p>Kerala DGP Dr Shaik Darvesh Saheb said that&nbsp;an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), which was kept in a tiffin box, was recovered from the blast site.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Today morning at 9:40 am approximately there was an explosion at Zamra International Convention &amp; Exhibition Centre in which one person died and 36 persons are undergoing treatment. In the convention centre, we witnessed a regional convention happening. All our senior officers are on the spot. Our additional DGP is also in the way. I will also reach the spot shortly. We are conducting a thorough investigation, we will find out who is behind this and take strict action," DGP Darvesh stated.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"We will be constituting a special team today itself after I reach the spot," he&nbsp;added.</p>

<h2><strong>Delhi on high alert, blast suspect nabbed&nbsp;</strong></h2>

<p>After the Kerala blast, Delhi was placed on alert and instructions were given to increase security around churches.</p>

The investigation will give clarity on whether this was a bomb blast,” he added. State government asks doctors to report on duty As per ANI, Kerala Health Minister Veena George appealed to all government healthcare professionals to report for duty, even those who were on leave, after the blast occurred. She further asked the Director of the Health Department and the Director of the Medical Education Department to give the best treatment to those injured in the blasts. The minister also gave instructions to prepare for additional facilities at Kalamassery Medical College, Ernakulam General Hospital and Kottayam Medical College.
