"The matches were scheduled from July 31 and will last till August 17. These matches were organised for the selection of district cricketers," he added.

The 34-year-old, who was appointed as the mentor-cum-coach of the Jammu and Kashmir cricket team on July 1 last year, said support staff was also asked to leave the state.

For a one-way direct flight from Srinagar to Delhi, even low-cost airlines such as IndiGo, SpiceJet, GoAir and AirAsia are charging between Rs 10,000 to Rs 22,000, according to travel portals.

"On the Amarnath Yatra route, while the road till Chandanwari and Baltal were covered by Road Opening Parties, special focus was placed on the foot tracks. The search and anti-sabotage checks on the track itself including checking the ponies were done by the Central Armed Police Force deployed there," sources said on Saturday.

The search operation in areas parallel to the track was carried out by the units of the Indian Army deployed specifically for protection duty under Op Shiva, they said.

While the northern axis of the Yatra route was covered by 3 Sector RR, the Southern Sector was covered by 1 Sector RT (both units are part of the Rashtriya Rifles'&nbsp;Victor Force).

During the search, one M24 rifle and an Anti-Personnel Land mine with markings of POF (Pakistan Ordnance Factory) were recovered along the Northern route about 1.5 km south-west of the Sangam Top.

While on the southern flank, an IED was recovered 1.2 km north-east of Sheshnag.

The M24 rifle is a sniper weapon in service being used by the US Army.

There is a possibility that this weapon might have been brought in from Afghanistan where it might have been looted by the Taliban.Along with this, reports of Ibrahim Azhar, JeM chief Masood Azhar's brother, resurfacing in PoK, came alongside further intercepts that confirmed that a group of 15 trained JeM cadres had reached its camps in Markaz, Sanan Bin Salma, Tarnab Farm, Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday said that all the political parties in Jammu and Kashmir should come together to give a message to the central government that they cannot tamper with the state's special position.

"The workers of all political parties should come together so that a message can be given to the Centre that they cannot tamper with J-K's special position. Recent developments in the state have created fear among the people. It appears that something is about to happen," she told reporters.

Mehbooba said that it was "unfortunate" that the central government has not issued a clear statement over the current situation as the state is rocked by rumours and uncertainty.

Earlier in the day, Mehbooba said that it is a travesty that the Centre has not made efforts to reach out and clarify on the situation in the state.

"Yet again the valley is on edge. It's a travesty that Central government hasn't made efforts to reach out and clarify recent developments," she tweeted.

Yesterday, the state government advised Amarnath yatris and tourists to curtail their stay in the Valley "immediately", shortly after the Indian Army said Pakistani terrorists were planning to disrupt the pilgrimage.

The Union Home Ministry had ordered the deployment of an additional 100 companies of central paramilitary forces in the state.

One company comprises around 100 personnel. Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft were also pressed into service to induct the security troops in Valley.

Meanwhile, National Conference (NC) leader Omar Abdullah earlier today asked the Centre to come forward and assure the people of Jammu and Kashmir that there is nothing to worry about.

"Based on assessment of internal security situation, training requirements, the need for paramilitary troops to be rotated for rest and recuperation, induction and de-induction of central forces is a continuous and dynamic process," MHA sources said further.

On Thursday, news agency PTI had reported that additional 280 companies of security forces (28,000 security personnel) were being sent to the valley by the government to strengthen counter-insurgency operations and law and order situation.

Last week, the central government had moved 10,000 central forces personnel to valley following National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval visit to Jammu and Kashmir. During his two-day-visit, Doval had held meetings with senior officers and reviewed law and order situation in the valley.

Government denies deploying additional troops in Jammu and Kashmir: Report

For rapid induction of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and other paramilitary troops in Kashmir, the Centre has pressed <a href="https://www.wionews.com/india-news/indian-air-force-an-32-aircraft-with-13-passengers-on-board-goes-missing-after-takeoff-223865">Indian Air Force (IAF)</a> aircraft including the C-17 Globemaster heavy-lift plane into service.

Sources on Friday told ANI, "The C-17 heavy-lift aircraft along with other planes are being used for inducting troops from different parts of the country."

The sources said that in a view of the increased induction of troops, the Air Force and the Army are also on high operational alert in the Jammu and Kashmir region.

Army Chief General Bipin Rawat had visited Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday to review the operational preparedness of the troops deployed in the state.&nbsp;

The security agencies have also received inputs about possible attempts of infiltration by terror groups from <a href="https://www.wionews.com/south-asia/pok-protest-erupts-against-neelum-jhelum-hydropower-project-239401">Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir</a> into the state.&nbsp;

Out of the 100 coys, 50 are from CRPF, 30 from Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), and ten each from Border Security Force (BSF) and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP).

After additional security forces were ordered to be deployed in Kashmir in the wake of inputs about a terror attack threat, paramilitary troops are being rushed in from different parts of the country such as Assam, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and many other places, the sources added. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had recently ordered the deployment of an additional 100 coys of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) to "strengthen the CI grid as well as for maintaining law and order situation in Jammu and Kashmir." Out of the 100 coys, 50 are from CRPF, 30 from Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), and ten each from Border Security Force (BSF) and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP). The move to deploy additional troops came after the security establishment received confirmed inputs that Pakistan army-backed terrorist groups are planning to carry out a major attack on the Indian soil. Inputs have been received by security and spy agencies that after the successful conduct of Panchayat elections in the state, terrorist groups have been asked to attack forces. National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval is constantly in touch with the security agencies to monitor the situation and is keeping a close eye on developments in the state.

Dhillon informed that an M-24 American sniper rifle with a telescope has been recovered from a terror cache along the Amarnath Yatra route.

On the increase in troop numbers in Jammu &amp; Kashmir, Dilbag Singh, DG JK Police said, "We had been into a number of activities since last few months. Our troops that have been deployed did not get a chance to relax for a while".

Areas in and around Bhaderwah town of Doda district, such as Bhalla and Sarthal, have emerged as hotspots for honeybee tourism as they have an abundance of flowering plants - one of the major requirements for successful beekeeping. Tourists are visiting these areas both to relax in the lap of nature and to learn the nuances of apiculture. One of the tourists, Amir Sohrawardi said, "Though we came to Sarthal because of its captivating landscapes, the apiculture that is practised here gave us another reason to stay.&nbsp;

I believe apiculture has a lot of potential and if it is harnessed adequately, then honey from Jammu and Kashmir can even be exported to other countries."Beekeeping is the only industry which not only produces honey and beeswax but also assists in enhancing crop-production through the pollination process.&nbsp;

This particular industry does not require much investment except the material in the form of nectar and pollen from flowers, which is easily available in the natural surroundings of Jammu and Kashmir. Moreover, the presence of large swathes of forests and negligible use of pesticides in cropped lands provide a conducive atmosphere for the production of organic honey. Beekeepers in Sarthal are trying their level best to tap this potential of natural resources.&nbsp;

They are using indigenous honeybees, 'Apis cerena indica', which are even instrumental in enhancing agricultural productivity as they are natural pollinators for a range of fruits and crops. Along with this, beekeepers in this area practice migratory beekeeping that increases honey production manifold as compared to stationary ones.&nbsp;

An official from the Apiculture Department, Mohammad Shabir, said, "We have been placing these honeybee boxes in Sarthal for the last 25-30 years. The season starts from April and continues till August and then the honeybees are migrated. A lot of tourists come in this season to see these honeybees, their honey is also in much demand. "Presently, Jammu and Kashmir import honey worth Rs. 8.5 million from other states, but if its honeybee keeping potential is effectively utilised, it will not only help in attracting tourists but also provide a livelihood to many people in the state.&nbsp;

Army jawan killed as Pakistan violates ceasefire in Jammu and Kashmir's Sunderbani sector

Pakistan on Monday violated ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. The ceasefire started at about 12:45pm in Shahpur sector in Poonch district, said officials.

The Indian Army is retaliating to the unprovoked firing by Pakistan.&nbsp;There were no reports of any casualties so far.

An order issued by the Home Ministry said the additional forces are being deployed to strengthen "counter-insurgent grid" as well as maintaining law and order situation in Jammu and Kashmir.

Threat of major terrorist attack led to troop deployment in Jammu and Kashmir: Government source 

Former Chief Minister and People's Democratic Party (PDP) leader Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday said that the priority of her party is to defend the identity of Kashmir and the legitimacy of Article 35A and Article 370 of the Constitution.

"Our priority is to defend our identity, especially the legitimacy of Article 35A and Article 370 of the Constitution. So, we are ready for the big fight," the former Chief Minister said on the 20th raising day of the PDP.

She claimed that it was her father Mufti Mohammad Sayeed who exerted the most pressure on the Central government to resolve the Kashmir issue.

"It was my father who tied the hands of the Central government to resolve the Kashmir issue," said Mehbooba.

She further asserted that her party is not corrupt and will not be cowed down by the NIA and the ED raids.

"My party and ministers are not corrupt. So, the NIA and the Enforcement Directorate raids are not the solutions. Any power including the Chief Minister's chair is not permanent for anyone," she said.

She had earlier stressed that the Kashmir issue is a political problem, which cannot be solved by using the military might.

"Jammu and Kashmir is a political issue. There is no military solution to this issue. It cannot be solved until you talk to Pakistan and the people here. You can establish temporary peace by (using military) but for long, lasting peace, it is necessary to solve the Kashmir problem (through talks)," she said.&nbsp;

Two terrorists were killed on Saturday morning after an exchange of fire started between security forces and terrorists&nbsp;in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district.

The topmost Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM)&nbsp;commander of South Kashmir Munna Lahori/Bihari from Pakistan killed along with his local associate after a night-long operation.

On May 2, 1999, a man called Tashi Namgyal, a local shepherd living in a small village called Gharkon near mountainous Batalik town of Kargil spotted six men breaking stones and clearing the snow when he was looking for his list Yak. This was unusual for Tashi as he saw no footprints leading to the spot and it was clear that they had come from the other side. The men wore Pathani dress and army uniforms, few of them carried weapons too. &nbsp;

Tashi was the first to report the infiltration in Kargil to the army and it was after his information that a team was sent to scan the area. What the group of 20-25 Indian army men found was surprising...men with arms and ammunition getting ready. On his information, the Indian army moved quickly and minimised the possible damage.&nbsp;

He is upset with the successive governments for failing to recognise his work. He is old now and no longer goes with his cattle. There is no mobile network in his village which is almost 70 kilometres away from Kargil city.&nbsp;

WION's Ieshan Wani travelled to meet him at his village located near a mountain ridge. Here's an excerpt from the interview.&nbsp;

WION: What did you see on that day? How old were you then?

Tashi: I was 30-years-old. I had lost my Yak and was looking for him in the mountains near Garkhun stream. I was carrying my binoculars with me and started scanning the area. While looking for my yak, I saw six people on top. The snow was everywhere and they were removing snow and looking for stones. I halted there for around 10 minutes and rushed back to my village. Army men from three Punjab used to be stationed here. First, I narrated the entire thing to a guard commander by the name Balbindar Singh, this was on May 2, 1999. He replied that the army patrolling party had just come from that area. I insisted them to investigate the matter as this was unusual.

Around 8 in the evening, Balbindar came to my house and asked me to stay home the next morning, as a commanding officer was coming to meet me. After an hour, he came back, asking me to be ready at 5 in the morning, as an army vehicle will come to pick me up.&nbsp;

At 5, I was taken to the Batalik sector where an officer asked me what I saw? I told him again that I saw six people breaking the stones and removing the snow. On this, he replied, we keep getting such reports but if this is true, we will gift you and if the information is wrong, we will see you.&nbsp;

Then they sent 20 to 25 army men with me. I took them to the place where I saw the six men. On spotting them they went through the other area for the ambush. But there Pakistani army and militants were everywhere and ready. Just after eight days of my report, the war started. For three months continuously, the fighting was going on in this area.&nbsp;

WION: You are also a witness to this war. What did you do during that period?

Tashi: I took my kids towards Khalsi village and from this village, artillery was being fired like rain. Many army units came here with a lot of weaponry. For three months, local people helped the army in bringing the weapons. We even took the weapons to high mountains after shifting our families to safety. People volunteered and helped the army. We would just hear blasts for three months.&nbsp;

WION: What has changed in this village?

Tashi: We don't even have a mobile tower, what change will I talk about?

WION: How did you feel after giving your report which proved important for the country?

Tashi: I never got any civil award. My report was 100 per cent accurate. No one even enquires about me. I saved the entire Ladakh through my report. God knows what would've happened, had I not told the army. Modi is a good man, I hope he reads this report and gives me much deserved recognition. No one speaks about me, not even the local ministers. I still wait for the day when I get an award. Even my kids feel sorry for me.&nbsp;

WION: You are the hero of the Kargil war. Has your life changed?

Tashi: A little has but I am illiterate and I feel that's the reason why I couldn't reach anywhere in my life. India is my country, I was born here and will always stand for it. Pakistan was badly defeated and I'm sure there are many dead bodies of Pakistani soldiers in the mountains. They came like rats.&nbsp;

WION: What's your message to the current government?

Tashi: I just want to tell them that my work should be recognised. I am waiting for the day.&nbsp;

Kargil War: Shepherd who informed Indian army of Pakistan infiltration still awaits recognition

Days after United States President Donald Trump ruffled up feathers by his comments on mediation on Kashmir, New Delhi has said its time to "move on" since clarification has been given by both sides.

Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Raveesh Kumar in his weekly presser said, "There was a statement made by us, External Affairs Minister in both houses of the Parliament. State Department has issued a clarification in this regard."

Calling India-US ties important, Raveesh said, "We are a very strong strategic partnership, we have deep convergences on range of issues. We have excellent trade and investment linkages... we are moving towards technological ties up"

He added, "Our relationship with the US remains multifaceted.. stands on its own merit. We have broadened convergence"
