The protest began after a Kurdish-Iranian woman named Mahsa Amini, 22, passed away while being held by police after being detained for wearing clothing considered to be "inappropriate." Her death triggered a&nbsp;wave of rage across the country and&nbsp;mass demonstrations were held.&nbsp; 
 
The HRANA news agency on Saturday said that rallies and sit-ins were held on nearly 20 campuses. Videos alleging to show security forces firing at protesters were posted online.&nbsp;

As per local officials, the residence of the leading state-sanctioned cleric in Divandarreh was also destroyed, which claimed the lives of two.&nbsp;

Amid the ongoing protests in Iran following the death of Mahsa Amini, a woman who allegedly died after being detained by Tehran's morality police, reports suggest that the middle eastern nation has given death threats to citizens in Canada and the United Kingdom who have been vocal about the incident.

On Friday, Canada’s spy agency the, Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS), in a statement said that they are investigating reports of people who have received “credible” death threats from Iran which are “designed to silence those who speak out publicly” against them. “CSIS is actively investigating several threats to life emanating from the Islamic Republic of Iran based on credible intelligence,” it said.&nbsp;

Notably, Canada has imposed several sanctions against Tehran over alleged human rights abuses, including the death of Mahsa Amini.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, in the UK, at least seven armed vehicles have been deployed outside Iran International television studios in west London after two of its UK-based journalists were threatened by Tehran.&nbsp;

Reportedly, they received “severe and credible” threats for their coverage of the ongoing protests on the UK-based Persian language media company. The channel has been dubbed as a “terrorist” organisation by the regime, said a report by AFP.&nbsp;

This comes days after the British intelligence agency, MI5 director general Ken McCallum said that the growing threat from Iran “most frequently crosses into terrorism,” which has made at least 10 attempts to “kidnap or even kill British or UK-based individuals perceived as enemies of the regime,” since the beginning of this year alone, as reported by WION earlier.&nbsp;

Videos and pictures shared on the social media showed that the forces attacked the protesters who had gathered to protest against the custodial death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini and they even beat up women who were not wearing the mandatory hair coverings in public.

The videos showed that the metro station was crowded with people – some of whom were protesting Amini’s death – and the forces ended up hitting them with batons and sticks.

Mohammadi, who was arrested on September 22, has been accused of receiving training as a foreign agent abroad for her reporting from Amini’s funeral in her home town of Saqqez.

Three people were killed after Iranian forces opened fire at&nbsp;scores of protesters in the western town of Mahabad, according to local media reports.

A scuffle had broken out between security forces and the agitators who were targeting the government buildings in protest against the killing of an anti-regime protester, Ismail Moloudi.

The protesters had gathered there after Moloudi was buried in the city.

The United States has claimed that Russia might be advising Iran on how to suppress protests sparked by the custodial death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini.

Briefing the reporters on Wednesday, Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said that the White House was "concerned that Moscow may be advising Iran on best practices to manage protests, drawing on... extensive experience in suppressing".

Later, John Kirby, spokesman for the White House National Security Council, also levelled a similar allegation but did not provide any evidence to base his accusation.

"They may be considering some sort of support to crack down on Iran's protesters," he said.

"We see signs that they may be considering the ability to train. Sadly, Russia has experience," he added.

White House Press Secretary Karine also reiterated an earlier claim that Iran is helping Russia in waging war against Ukraine, with the supply of its drones.

“The evidence that Iran is helping Russia rage its war against Ukraine is clear and it is public. And Iran and Russia are growing closer the more isolated they become. Our message to Iran is very, very clear – stop killing your people and stop sending weapons to Russia to help kill Ukrainians.”

The allegation of the Kremlin’s involvement in Iran protest comes on the same day the Biden administration imposed a slew of additional sanctions against Iranian officials involved in the ongoing crackdown on nationwide protests in Iran, including the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ intelligence organisation and the IRGC’s deputy commander for operations, reports CNN.

US State Department’s spokesperson Vedant Patel said that the US would continue to support the protest that has swept across over 100 cities since the death of Amini, who was arrested by Iran's morality for violating the Islamic dress code.&nbsp;

Canada will host a meeting of female foreign ministers across the world to highlight Iran's "brutal" assault on protests sparked by the killing of Kurdish woman Mahsa Amini.&nbsp;

Melanie Joly, Canada's foreign minister made the&nbsp;announcement on Thursday (October 20). Joly's office stated that the state of women&nbsp;and human rights in Iran will be discussed by her and 14 others. It was further mentioned that they will also discuss ways to increase support for Iranians.

The Guardian reports she further added that Canada will continue to show its support for women in Iran. A 16-year-old Iranian girl died after she was allegedly beaten up by security forces in her classroom along with other students for refusing to sing an anthem praising Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

The incident took place last week in northwestern Ardabil city when the security forces were raiding the Shaheed Girls High School.

They tried to coerce the schoolgirls to sing the anthem in the honour of Iran’s supreme leader when 16-year-old Asra Panahi, among others, resisted. Following this, they were beaten up.

The Coordinating Council of Iranian Teachers' Trade Associations issued a statement on Wednesday saying that Panahi later succumbed to her injuries in hospital, reports BBC.

However, the Iranian authorities denied responsibility for Asra’s death, while her uncle claimed that his niece died due to a heart condition.

Asra’s death comes at a time when Iran is simmering in chaos ever since the anti-government protests swept the nation a month ago.&nbsp;They have been protesting against the regime for the custodial death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini, who was arrested by the Morality Police for wearing a headscarf inappropriately.

There have been reports that several young girls have died, with the relatives and human rights groups blaming the security forces for it.

The protests that began in the streets have since then gripped several schools, where teenage girls have agitated in classrooms, and playgrounds in a show of support for the women-led protests against the hijab law and the clerical establishment.

It was widely assumed that Rekabi defied the Islamic Republic's diktat for female athletes and ditched the mandatory veil to extend her support amid protests in Iran.

However, Rekabi on Tuesday clarified her veil had fallen by mistake while she was competing in the international event in South Korea. The footage of the Iranian mountain climber, competing without a hijab had gone viral on social media with many believing the move was in solidarity with the ongoing protests in her country.

Rekabi competed without a headscarf covering which is mandatory for all female athletes from Iran, as per the rules in the country. BBC Persia had earlier reported that Rekabi's passport and phone had been confiscated by Iranian officials after she competed without a hijab and that her friends were unable to get in touch with her. However, on Tuesday, Rekabi herself cleared the air on her well-being.

Rekabi took to social media to inform her hijab fell off by mistake during the competition and it was unintentional. A text-only Instagram story was posted on Rekabi`s account that said, "Due to inappropriate timing, and an unpredictable call for me to climb the wall, there was accidentally a problem with my head cover."

It further added that Rekabi was flying back to Iran "according to the pre-arranged schedule", and apologised for the "concerns created". On Tuesday morning, she and other athletes staying at the same hotel in Seoul had all checked out. Meanwhile, many social media users expressed concerns for the well-being of Iranian climber. Many took her public appearance without a headscarf or hijab as a sign of solidarity with the women-led protests that have caused mayhem in Iran recently.

As per AFP, at the award ceremony in Frankfurt, l'Horizon said "This award is not just for me" adding that they think that the jury the text "to send a signal against hatred, for love and for the fight of all those people who are being suppressed because of their bodies."

Though the human rights office didn't provide further details about the deceased, NGO Amnesty International claimed that the victims included 20 boys aged between 11 and 17, and three girls, of which two of them were 16-year-olds and one 17-year-old.&nbsp;

The month-long demonstration began after the death of 22-year-old Amini who was detained by the Iran's Morality Police for wearing headscarves inappropriately in violation of the Islamic dress code.&nbsp;

Since then, the protests have transformed into anti-regime agitation, calling for an end to the dictatorial regime.&nbsp;

On Monday, EU countries sanctioned Iran's information minister, several senior officers of Morality Police and other officials for the brutal crackdown on protesters.&nbsp;

In response, the Tehran regime vowed to take timely action, and blamed the West, especially US, of stoking tensions in the region.&nbsp;

Though no official figures are available, a toll published by the Iran Human Rights group has said that at least 122 people have been killed in the crackdown on the Amini protests, and at least 93 more died in separate clashes in Zahedan, Sistan-Baluchestan province.&nbsp;

Nine people from several European countries were arrested by the Iranian security forces for allegedly participating in the protests against the custodial death of the 22 years old woman Mahsa Amini last month.

According to reports, the nine people are from Germany, Poland, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Sweden and other countries.

"The intelligence ministry on Friday said that they were detained during the riots or while plotting in the background,”&nbsp;the Iranian media said.

The ministry added that the relevant embassies, including Germany, France, UK and Sweden, were warned over the involvement of their 'agents'&nbsp;in the anti-government protests, BBC reported.

For the past three weeks, the country has been rocked by widespread protests, which have, at times, turned violent, resulting in the death of civilians.

Though there is no official figure, the activists from Iran Human Rights (IHR), a Norway-based organisation, have claimed that at least 76 protesters have been killed by Iranian security forces.

Notably, women have been taking to the streets by removing their headscarves in public and cutting their hair in protest against the strict rules on women's dress and general behaviour.

Moreover, reports have claimed that 19 more people died on Friday following a standoff between protesters and police at a police station in Zahedan, the provincial capital of the southeastern Sistan-Baluchistan province.

The agitation began after the death of 22-year-old Kurdish woman Mahsa Amini, who was arrested by Iran's morality police for allegedly violating the mandatory dress code.

The Kurdish Democratic Party of&nbsp;Iran, one of the groups targeted, charged that "these cowardly attacks are occurring at a time when the terrorist regime of&nbsp;Iran&nbsp;is unable to crack down on ongoing&nbsp;protests&nbsp;inside and silence the Kurdish and Iranian peoples' civil resistance".

Not a big deal

The Iranian government -- its economy already hit by sanctions over its nuclear programme -- has sought to play down the crisis.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said he told Western diplomats at recent UN meetings that the&nbsp;protests&nbsp;were "not a big deal" for the stability of the clerical state.

"There is not going to be regime change in&nbsp;Iran. Don't play to the emotions of the Iranian people," he told National Public Radio in New York, also accusing "outside elements" of stirring up violence.

Disobeying the judiciary's warnings, Iranian anti-hijab protesters marched for the 10th consecutive night on Sunday (Sept 25) to demonstrate their disagreement and anger after the death of young Kurdish woman Mahsa Amini.&nbsp;

The unrest began on September 16 after Amini's death, and till now, hundreds of protesters, including journalists and activists, have been detained. Amini was detained three days prior to her death, for breaking rules requiring a tightly fitted hijab and outlawing ripped and colourful clothing.&nbsp;

With the Iranian president earlier issuing a warning on Sunday, judiciary chief Gholamhosseing Mohseni Ejei, in a statement, emphasised the need for decisive action without any tolerance against the instigators of riots.&nbsp;

As per the official toll, as of now, nearly 47 people, including protesters and security personnel, have died since the unrest began. However, as per Iran Human Rights (IHR) in Oslo, the fatalities were at least 57 as of Sunday evening, but due to internet outages, it was difficult to confirm the death toll.&nbsp;

On Sunday, web monitor Netblocks reported a "rolling blackout" and widespread internet restrictions on Whatsapp, Instagram, and Skype. This comes after Facebook, Twitter and TikTok have already been banned.

Images and videos shared by IHR and witnesses have been shared online, showing demonstrators yelling "death to dictator". The protests have been going across the country. In some videos shared of&nbsp;Tabriz, women are shown taking off their headscarves and shouting at the authorities. Not just this, several videos showed female protesters burning their hijabs, and cutting their hair during rallies.&nbsp;

Several videos showed police and protesters getting into street fights. During protests, security forces used live and bird shots, while demonstrators allegedly threw rocks and set fire to police vehicles and state buildings.&nbsp;

In addition to other places, demonstrations in support of Iranian women have taken place in Paris, Istanbul, Madrid, New York and Athens.

Iran has been subjected to tough economic sanctions earlier and has attributed this unrest to a "foreign plot."
