Australian all-rounder Cameron Green emerged as the highest-valued pick in the auction with Styris bidding Rs 20 crore while representing Sunrisers Hyderabad. While Green is expected to command a massive price, the 20 crore-mark has never been breached in the history of the tournament.

South African all-rounder Chris Morris is currently the costliest player in history as he was picked for Rs 16.25 crore by Rajasthan Royals in the 2021 edition of the competition.

Green, Curran and Stokes are the major names going into the auction and teams like Sunrisers, Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings needing a major all-rounder in their ranks. With not many options in the auction, it is a possibility that any one of them can actually end up commanding such a big price.

IPL 2023: Remaining purse of all 10 teams ahead of mini-auction in Kochi

All the 10&nbsp;Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises on Tuesday (November 15) announced their final list of released and retained players ahead of the 2023 mini-auction. A number of big names were let go of by the 10 franchises as they prepare to strengthen their squads with new additions at the mini-auction next month.

Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Sunrisers Hyderabad were the top three teams to release the most number of players while Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) let go of only five players each. There were some surprise releases as both Sunrisers and Punjab Kings parted ways with their respective captains from the last season.

Sunrisers released Kane Williamson, who was retained last year for a whopping Rs 14 crore, while Punjab Kings let go of Mayank Agarwal, who had replaced KL Rahul as captain in IPL 2022. Two legends of IPL, Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard were also released by their respective teams Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians, bringing an end to a glorious association.

While Pollard announced his retirement from IPL stating that he will return as the team's batting coach next season, Bravo is yet to decide his future after being released. Evin Lewis, Jason Holder, Alex Hales, and Pat Cummins were some other&nbsp;high-profile players released by their respective teams.

A number of big names were let go of by the 10 franchises as they prepare to strengthen their squads with new additions at the mini-auction next month. Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Sunrisers Hyderabad were the top three teams to release the most number of players while Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) let go of only five players each. There were some surprise releases as both Sunrisers and Punjab Kings parted ways with their respective captains from the last season. Sunrisers released Kane Williamson, who was retained last year for a whopping Rs 14 crore, while Punjab Kings let go of Mayank Agarwal, who had replaced KL Rahul as captain in IPL 2022. While a number of high-profile players were released by their respective teams, the franchises managed to keep their core intact.

Mumbai Indians (MI) let go of star all-rounder Kieron Pollard after he announced his retirement from IPL while Chennai Super Kings (CSK) released the legendary Dwayne Bravo. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) let go of their captain Kane Williamson with Punjab Kings also parting ways with their skipper from last season - Mayank Agarwal.

Punjab Kings parted ways with their former skipper Mayank Agarwal and West Indies all-rounder Odean Smith ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. They will be going into the mini auction on December 23 with a substantial purse of INR 322 million and four overseas slots to complete.

Besides Agarwal and Smith, all major cricketers were retained for the new season with veteran Indian cricket team opener Shikhar Dhawan assuming the leadership position. As per a report in ESPNCricnifo, the mini-auction for the 16th edition of the IPL -- which is just over four months away from its commencement -- will be hosted by Kochi, and not Istanbul or Bengaluru as per earlier reports. Prior to this, many portals had indicated that the BCCI is keen to take the auction outside India, however, it seems it won't be the case this time around. Early in 2022, the IPL 2022 two-day mega auction had been held in Bengaluru. Hence, this will be the second time when the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will be staging the IPL auction twice in a calendar year (after 2018).

It is to be noted that all the ten IPL franchises have been given a deadline to submit their retained and released list of players by November 15. Not a lot has been confirmed as to who will be the players to be released by all the ten teams. On Tuesday (November 08), the likes of Shardul Thakur, KS Bharat, New Zealand's explosive hitter Tim Seifert, Mandeep Singh, and Ashwin Habbar are the other four players set to be released by the one-time runners Delhi Capitals (DC).

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to conduct a mini player auction ahead of the start of the new season in 2023. Gujarat Titans defeated Rajasthan Royals in the final last season to lift their maiden IPL trophy in their debut campaign after successfully executing their strategies in the mega auction last year.

As per a report in the Times of India, the 2023 IPL auction is set to be held on December 16 in Bengaluru. IPL is also set to return to the traditional home and away format from next season and is likely to be staged entirely in India like last season.

Unlike the mega auction last time around where the eight old teams were asked to retain a maximum of four players, there will be no such cap on the ten teams this time. All ten teams can release and retain as many players as they like considering the budget in mind.

The overall purse of each team will be increased by Rs 5 crore (INR 50 million) from Rs 90 crore (INR 900 million) to Rs 95 crore (INR 950 million) for the 2023 mini-auction. If a team decides to release none of their players, they will be left with the amount they had saved in the mega auction last year and the additional Rs 5 crore allotted to them.

Punjab Kings currently have the largest purse among all ten teams with&nbsp;Rs 3.45 crore (INR 34.5 million) remaining in their kitty followed by Chennai Super Kings (Rs 29.5 million), Royal Challengers Bangalore (Rs 15.5 million), Rajasthan Royals (Rs 9.5 million), Kolkata Knight Riders (Rs 4.5 million) and Gujarat Titans (Rs 15 million).&nbsp;

Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals were all left with only Rs 1 million after the mega auction last year while Lucknow Super Giants exhausted their entire purse.

Despite it being a mini auction, a number of big names are expected to go under the hammer ahead of the IPL 2023 season. The likes of England all-rounder Sam Curran and Cameron Green among others can headline the show with several big stars released by the franchises also expected to be in the fray.
