The United States has announced that it plans to restore Air India's ability to self-conduct its ground handling operations at American airports.

The Department and other US government agencies have continued to work with the government of India towards satisfactory resolution of this matter. In that connection, recent positive developments have led the department to tentatively determine that the public interest now calls for removal of the permit condition we had imposed in order 2019-7-9, said the order issued by Joel Szabat, Assistant Secretary of Transportation for Aviation and International Affairs.

"We therefore have tentatively decided to amend Air India's permit to remove that condition,"&nbsp;the Department of Transportation said.

Stakeholders and public have 21 days to respond to this proposal, before it can be finalised and enforced.

The order comes a day after the Indian Ambassador to the US, Taranjit Singh Sandhu, had a conversation with the Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao.

"India and the US have partnered in Aviation sector during these difficult times,"&nbsp;the ambassador tweeted.

The order also relieves Air India of any further reporting requirement regarding its ground handling arrangements.&nbsp;

India has moved up four places as in 2019, it secured 52nd position and gained 81st spot in 2015.&nbsp;

The release said that the list shows a gradual "eastward shift in the locus of innovation" as countries like India, China, the Philippines and Vietnam have shown a significant rise in rankings over the years.&nbsp;

It also said India has become the third-most innovative country in the category of lower-middle-income economies with the addition of new indicators and improvements in various parameters of the GII.

"Thanks to universities such as the Indian Institute of Technology in Bombay and Delhi and the Indian Institute of Science in Bengaluru, and its top scientific publications, India is the lower middle-income economy with the highest innovation quality," the release said.

India ranks in the top 15 in fields including ICT (Information and Communication Technology) services exports, government online services, graduates in science and engineering, and R&amp;D-based global companies.

The index ranked 131 countries on metrics such as institutions, human capital and research, infrastructure, market sophistication and business sophistication, knowledge and technology outputs and creative outputs.&nbsp;

In one of the walls, objects that begin with the letter 's' are made, including scooter, spade and swing and are painted in black underneath the words such as "look, listen and say".

"Since most of the families lack resources to educate their kids digitally, we had to come up with an innovative method to keep children invested in education," said Ram Gaikwad, a teacher at Asha Marathi Vidyalaya school, reported news agency AFP.&nbsp;

For 13-year-old Yashwant Anjalakar, who aspires to work for elite Indian Administrative Service, the walls are the only hope to learn in times of pandemic as his family doesn't have access to the internet.&nbsp;

"When my mother sends me to buy milk, I walk through the village and look at the lessons on the walls," he said.&nbsp;

"I miss my school and my friends a lot. Sitting at home is boring and these walls are a great way of revising and studying... I want to keep studying even during this pandemic."&nbsp;

Presently, 250 walls have been painted in the villages and the school expects to add another 200.&nbsp;

Russia will be deploying-- two destroyers,&nbsp;Admiral Vinogradov and&nbsp;Admiral Tributs&nbsp;and Tanker&nbsp;Boris Butoma while India will deploy its destroyer-Ranvijay, frigate-Sahyadri, corvette-Kiltan and&nbsp;Tanker-Shakti.

A source said, "As part of INDRA NAVY 2020, maritime operations such as Flying, Gun Firing on Surface and Aerial Targets, Tracking Exercises and Replenishment at Sea Approaches (RASAPS) are planned."

The exercises come even as India's defence minister will be in Moscow for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation or SCO defence ministers meeting.

Interestingly, the Russian Navy will be joining the Indian navy after the visit from Sri Lankan port of&nbsp;Hambantota from 31st August to 3rd September.&nbsp;

India-Russia (INDRA) Exercises between the Army, Navy and Air Force of the two countries have been held since 2005. Joint Tri-Services Exercises “INDRA” are also being held once in two years since 2017. The last INDRA Tri-Services Exercise was held in India in December 2019.

Indian and Russian Navies will undertake PASSEX or passing exercises in Bay of Bengal from September 4 to 5. The exercises, Indra Navy 2020 were proposed by Russian Navy as “non-contact, at sea only” with the focus being to "maintain the continuity engagements between the two Navies", a source said. Indra Navy 2020 was planned in Russia's Vladivostok but was postponed due to COVID crisis. The exercises are expected to increases interoperability between the 2 Navies even as India and Russia are expected to sign-on logistics pact later this year. The Indian and Russian exercises happen at the same location where the Indian Navy and USS Nimitz, one of the largest warships in the world had undertaken PASSEX more than a month ago. Russia will be deploying-- two destroyers, Admiral Vinogradov and Admiral Tributs and Tanker Boris Butoma while India will deploy its destroyer-Ranvijay, frigate-Sahyadri, corvette-Kiltan and Tanker-Shakti. A source said, "As part of INDRA NAVY 2020, maritime operations such as Flying, Gun Firing on Surface and Aerial Targets, Tracking Exercises and Replenishment at Sea Approaches (RASAPS) are planned." The exercises come even as India's defence minister will be in Moscow for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation or SCO defence ministers meeting. Interestingly, the Russian Navy will be joining the Indian navy after the visit from Sri Lankan port of Hambantota from 31st August to 3rd September. India-Russia (INDRA) Exercises between the Army, Navy and Air Force of the two countries have been held since 2005. Joint Tri-Services Exercises “INDRA” are also being held once in two years since 2017. The last INDRA Tri-Services Exercise was held in India in December 2019.

Over the next two months, the company will attempt to list 200,000 products on the wholesale portal. This will include patronage from 50 brands and 250 local manufactures over the next few days.

In July, Flipkart had acquired the wholesale business of Walmart, its parent company in India.

Flipkart faces competition from Amazon&nbsp;and the locally brewed JioMart, which is supported by Indian billionaire Mukesh Ambani.
