Researchers at the National Institute of Virology (NIV) in Pune have found antibodies for the virus in two out of the 883 human serum samples which were taken from various Indian states. This implies that people have been infected with the virus.

During the course of the study, the virus was not found in human or animal samples.

A day after the prime ministers of India and Denmark met for a virtual summit, the latter's envoy, Freddy Svane, batted for diversification of the global chain initiative, saying his country was ready for it.&nbsp;

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier spoken about the need for alternate and diversified global supply chains at the summit and cited how India, Japan, Australia are coming together for supply chain initiative.&nbsp;

The envoy spoke exclusively to Wion's principal diplomatic correspondent Sidhant Sibal about the Green Strategic partnership and explained how India's scale and Denmark's skills can come together. He also spoke about the Kim Davy issue -- that India raised during the virtual summit.&nbsp;

This was the fourth such summit of the Indian prime minister amid the coronavirus pandemic.&nbsp;

Wion: India and Denmark agreed on green strategic partnership. Please elaborate.

Freddy Svane: This was the first virtual summit between India and any European country and we had a specific agenda -- to launch green strategic partnership. Early on, PM Modi had made clear that India had the scale -- 1.3 billion people, Denmark had the skills. India also has skills. We need a scope. The green strategic partnership is a way of focussing on every kind of cooperation that will improve the situation vis-a-vis climate change, energy, and food processing. Programmes like clean tap water, doubling of farmers income -- we can play a role. Around 1.4 billion people are entering into a relationship with Danes. We are proud of that. As PM Modi said, greener partnership of the new age. It will create jobs in India, many Danish companies are ready to invest more in India to secure greener transformation. It is about shaping future -- we moving from green, greener and greenest kind of attitude. As PM said at the UN, we need to reform, perform and transform. On Monday, we are following that mantra. We are very happy about that.

Wion: One of the key outcomes of the virtual summit is Denmark joining the international solar alliance. How important is it for your country?

Freddy Svane: We have to take note of that whatever we try to do globally on climate change, nothing will be successful without India being part of it. India has to be part of it. In that context, ISA, which is one of the most important projects launched by the Modi government is very important for changing the energy mix and secure green mindset is coming to all of us. We are ready to join ISA; our prime minister gave a commitment on Monday. All preparatory works are being done. We see huge potential for India and the ambitious agenda outlined by the Indian government, we have the tech, money so that India can be a global hub for onshore, offshore and wind energy. We are connecting in the greenway and that is about the future.

Wion: Indian PM during the virtual summit called for diversification of global supply chain, and without taking China's name highlighted how risky it has been to be dependent on a "single source". He also cited India, Japan, Australia supply chain resilience initiative. Your reaction?

Freddy Svane: First and foremost, COVID-19 was discussed on Monday. Both PMs, agreed, we need to find a global solution to the pandemic, it will not be the last one. We all have learnt our lessons and need to be much more resilient in dealing with the crisis. Both called for strong multilateral cooperation in the field. They took note of that, the pandemic had a negative impact on the global economy. In that perspective, we realised that traditional global supply chains are put at risk. And therefore, we need to reduce the risk. And naturally, India comes in as an alternative and India has been vocal about that. We saw the Japan, India, Australia initiative. That is something we are ready to consider. It is not to be seen as kind as a reaction to specific countries; it is about securing the global economy and benefits from the global economy comes to us. Nobody can live without global economy. Happy to tell, both PM agreed, FTA between India EU need to be finalised as soon as possible. Instead of focussing on what went wrong, its important to focus on how we can change things and benefits the whole world, India and Denmark. That is how I see.

Wion: This is the fourth virtual summit and first standalone virtual summit of an Indian prime minister with any European country. A reflection of growing closeness? &nbsp;

Freddy Svane: The EAM in his book very cleverly and smartly talked about the India way -- India has to reach to a different continent and different countries. We are extremely happy New Delhi thought about Denmark; we have been working on it with mutual interest on both sides. In Denmark, we have 6 million people and we are punching well beyond that on green technology and in that context, there are mutual benefits. You are a big country; you need to build strategic ties with small counties. We have our own history, but we have a specific relationship with your prime minister which is important to us.

Freddy Svane: I recall it myself. I was the envoy from 2010-2015. The two prime ministers discussed it and we took note of strong interests on both sides to have this matter resolved. Now we are moving forward.&nbsp;

The dump, which receives around 3,500 tonnes of garbage a day from the city of 5.6 million people, is home to several hundred impoverished families who work as rag pickers.

According to UNICEF well over 41 million children aged under 12 are forced to work in South Asia.

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said on Sunday that the neighbours in South Asia should have "better cooperation" for benefit of their own people as outgoing Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka Riva Ganguly Das made a farewell call on her.

"We always think that better cooperation with the neighbouring countries is firstly needed for the development of the people of the region," Hasina's press secretary Ihsanul Karim quoted her as telling Das during the meeting at the prime minister's official residence Ganobhaban.

"Our foreign policy is friendship to all and malice towards none," Hasina said as issues of bilateral interests came up during their discussion.

The Indian envoy handed over a letter from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to his Bangladeshi counterpart greeting on her birth anniversary and also presented a bouquet to her on his behalf.

"Please accept my warm wishes and hearty congratulations on your birthday?Your (Hasina) visionary leadership has helped Bangladesh achieve immense social and economic transformation, and equally your contributions to our bilateral relations have been extremely impressive," Modi's letter read.

During the meeting, the Indian envoy reiterated the importance of Bangladesh in the "Neighborhood First" policy of India and "recounted the progress made in the bilateral relations under the visionary leadership" of the two prime ministers, said a press release issued by the Indian mission here.

It said that the golden jubilee celebration of 1971 Liberation War and the fiftieth anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations in the next year also figured in their meeting.

The Indian envoy presented a collection of rare footage of the visit of Hasina's father Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to India in 1972 to her.

She thanked Das for her contribution to strengthening India-Bangladesh relations.

Hasina said the neighbouring countries could use Bangladesh's Chattogram, Sylhet and Syedpur Airports for their convenience.

Karim said the COVID-19 situation and the Rohingya crisis also came up for discussion.

Das' call on came as officials said Bangladesh foreign minister AK Abdul Momen was set to join with his Indian counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar on Tuesday through virtual platform.

Momen recently described bilateral ties with New Delhi "rock solid".&nbsp;

The joint secretary of Indian ocean region in the Ministry of External Affairs, Amit Narang, to this end said, "​Testifying to the long-standing civilisational links and cultural heritage, Prime Minister Modi announced grant assistance of US$15 million for the promotion of Buddhist ties between the two countries. The grant will assist in deepening people-to-people linkages between the two countries in the sphere of Buddhism."

The grant will be used for constructions and renovation of Buddhist cultural sites in the Indian ocean country, archaeological cooperation, the reciprocal study of Lord Buddha’s relics, strengthening of Buddhist scholarship, and supporting the clergy.

India will also facilitate the visit of a delegation of Buddhist pilgrims from Sri Lanka in the first inaugural flight to Kushinagar. Recently, in a bid to promote Buddhist tourism, Kushinagar airport was designated as an international airport. Kushinagar in Uttar Pradesh is the place where it is believed that Buddha attained Parinirvana or death after achieving Nirvana.

India had claimed a total of 279 billion rupees ($3.79 billion) including about $2 billion in tax, as well as interest and penalties.

According to Reuters, an international arbitration tribunal in The Hague ruled that India's imposition of a tax liability on Vodafone, as well as interest and penalties, were in a breach of an investment treaty agreement between India and the Netherlands.

The tribunal, in its ruling, said the government's demand is in breach of "fair and equitable treatment" and it must cease seeking the dues from Vodafone. It also directed India to pay 4.3 million pounds ($5.47 million or Rs 40 crore) to the company as compensation for its legal costs --&nbsp;and not Rs 20,000 crore, the sources in the Centre said on Friday.

Vodafone said in a statement the amount of the award was confidential. Shares in the company's India unit, Vodafone Idea, ended 13% higher on Friday.

"The tribunal held that any attempt by India to enforce the tax demand would be a violation of India's international law obligations," Vodafone said in its statement.

India's finance ministry said it will carefully study the award, together with its lawyers.

The government will consider all options and take a decision on further course of action including legal remedies, the ministry said in a statement.

The ruling brings an end to one of the most controversial disputes in India under international treaty agreements that it enters into with countries to protect foreign investments.

Vodafone's tax dispute stems from its $11 billion deal to buy the Indian mobile assets from Hutchison Whampoa in 2007. The government said Vodafone was liable to pay taxes on the acquisition, which the company contested.

In 2012, India's top court ruled in favour of the telecom provider but the government changed the rules to enable it to tax deals that had already been concluded.

In 2014, Vodafone initiated arbitration proceedings against India.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Friday held talks with former Afghan vice president Marshal Abdul Rashid Dostum covering various aspects of the historic initiative to bring back peace and stability in Afghanistan.

The visit of Dostum, an influential Afghan leader and former warlord, to India comes over a week after the Taliban and the Afghan government began direct talks for the first time to end 19 years of war that has killed tens of thousands of people and ravaged various parts of the country.

Following the meeting, Jaishankar tweeted that India remains fully committed to an Afghan-led, Afghan-owned and Afghan-controlled peace process.

"Glad to meet Marshal Abdul Rashid Dostum. Exchanged views on developments in Afghanistan and the larger region. His vast experience and deep insights were evident. India remains fully committed to an Afghan-led, Afghan-owned and Afghan-controlled peace process," he said.

Dostum also met Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla during which issues like constitutional order and rights of all sections of Afghan society figured, External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Anurag Srivastava said.

"FS @harshvshringl met Field Marshal @ARashidDostu &amp; listened to his insights on the #Afghan peace process and evolving situation. Constitutional order &amp; rights of all sections of Afghan society were also discussed. India has conveyed it's long term commitment to #Afghanistan," Srivastava tweeted.

India has been a major stakeholder in peace and stability of Afghanistan. It has already invested USD two billion in aid and reconstruction activities in the country.

On September 12, an Indian delegation attended the inaugural ceremony of the intra-Afghan negotiations in Doha while Jaishankar joined it through video conference.

India has been supporting a national peace and reconciliation process which is Afghan-led, Afghan-owned and Afghan-controlled.

India has been keenly following the evolving political situation after the US signed a peace deal with the Taliban in February. The deal provided for the withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan, effectively drawing curtains to Washington's 18-year war in the country. 
The US has lost over 2,400 soldiers in Afghanistan since late 2001.

India has also been maintaining that care should be taken to ensure that any such process does not lead to any "ungoverned spaces" where terrorists and their proxies can relocate.

India has been calling upon all sections of the political spectrum in Afghanistan to work together to meet the aspirations of all people in that country including those from the minority community for a prosperous and safe future.&nbsp;

It set out, for the first time, fundamental human rights to be universally protected.

The contribution of Indian reformer and educator Hansa Jivraj Mehta in ensuring a more gender sensitive language in the landmark Universal Declaration of Human Rights is widely lauded.
