<p>Indian army dog Kent was at the forefront of Operation SUJALIGALA. It was leading a column of soldiers on the trail of fleeing terrorists when it came under heavy hostile fire.</p>

<p>While shielding its handler, it laid down its own life in the best traditions of the Indian Army. Kent was a female, Labrador of 6 years of age and was from the Unit-21 army dog unit.&nbsp;</p>

<p>After reports emerged Tuesday afternoon (September 12) that the government is planning a 10 per cent GST hike on the sale of diesel vehicles, Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari issued a clarification denying any concrete plans right now.</p>

<p>Taking to X, formerly Twitter, Gadkari wrote, "It is essential to clarify that there is no such proposal currently under active consideration by the government."</p>

<p>"In line with our commitments to achieve Carbon Net Zero by 2070 and to reduce air pollution levels caused by hazardous fuels like diesel, as well as the rapid growth in automobile sales, it is imperative to actively embrace cleaner and greener alternative fuels. These fuels should be import substitutes, cost-effective, indigenous, and pollution-free."&nbsp;</p>

<p>Earlier in the day, while speaking at the 63rd Annual SIAM convention, Gadkari flagged an urgent need to move away from fuels like petrol&nbsp;and diesel.</p>

<p>"Hope automobile industry will take suo moto initiative to cut down diesel usage," he added.<br />

He further said that he is planning to meet Finance Minister &nbsp;Nirmala Sitharaman later in the day&nbsp;to request the GST hike.</p>

<p>At the convention, he reached out to the automobile industry and asked them to cut down on diesel usage, otherwise, the government would have to impose a 10 per cent&nbsp;"pollution tax" which would make it difficult for the industries to sell diesel vehicles.</p>

<p>Following Gadkari's remarks, shares of automobile companies took a plunge, with shares of Tata Motors, Mahindra &amp; Mahindra, and Ashok Leyland registering a fall of around 2.5 per cent.&nbsp;</p>

"In line with our commitments to achieve Carbon Net Zero by 2070 and to reduce air pollution levels caused by hazardous fuels like diesel, as well as the rapid growth in automobile sales, it is imperative to actively embrace cleaner and greener alternative fuels. These fuels should be import substitutes, cost-effective, indigenous, and pollution-free." Earlier in the day, while speaking at the 63rd Annual SIAM convention, Gadkari flagged an urgent need to move away from fuels like petrol and diesel. <p>‘Econario’ provides a powerful representation of how choices society makes today will affect the state of nature over the next 30 years.</p>

<h2><strong>A reflection of natural biodiversity</strong></h2>

<p>The robotic plant moves like a small fragile seedling, growing, not with the help of nutrients, but driven by changes over time in the Biodiversity Intactness Index (BII) – a metric developed by the Natural History Museum as a measure of how much of a region’s natural biodiversity still persists.</p>

<p>The BII is a rigorous approach to estimating biodiversity loss that combines data on ecosystems and species populations with data on human-caused pressures like land use.</p>

<p>When the artwork is folded, the plant has an industrial look, but as biodiversity increases and the work unfolds, the plant-like motion gives the work an organic feel. As the artwork switches between countries, it shows the biodiversity intactness in 2050 based on five different political scenarios we, as a society, can choose today.</p>

<h2><strong>Reflecting on a choice 'we still have'</strong></h2>

<p>The artwork makes technical data and statistics resonate on a personal level by representing data from the location where the work is being exhibited. It is showing us a choice in a time when we still have a choice.</p>

After travelling across nations, robotic plant 'Econario' reaches Bihar museum in India

<p>As the special session of Indian parliament approaches, the staff are preparing to don new uniforms when they relocate to the new&nbsp;building next week. But the new attire has sparked a political debate,&nbsp;with the opposition Congress party raising concerns about the inclusion of a lotus motif.</p>

<p>While the lotus holds the distinction of being India's national flower, it also serves as a party symbol of the ruling BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party).</p>

<p>Congress MP Manickam Tagore posted on X, “Why is the government not ready to put Tiger in the Parliament staff's dress, because Tiger is the national animal. Why are they not ready to put the Peacock, which is the national bird, in the dress? But they chose to put the Lotus in the dress code of the Parliamentary staff, because the BJP's symbol is the Lotus.”</p>

<p>Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) spokesperson Clyde Crasto reportedly said, “By printing the 'Lotus' symbol on uniforms of Parliament staff, the BJP is trying to turn our 'Temple of Democray' into a political arena."&nbsp;“The BJP is misusing the Parliament for personal propaganda. The August House belongs to the people of India, not to a political party,” he added.</p>

<p>These uniforms will incorporate elements of Indian culture, featuring 'Nehru jackets' and khaki pants, among other modifications.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The session will officially begin on September 18.</p>

<p>But a formal entry into the new parliament building is scheduled for September 19, coinciding with the Hindu festival of Ganesh Chaturthi, and accompanied by a small 'pooja' ceremony.</p>

<h2><strong>Designed by NIFT</strong></h2>

<p>The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) has designed these new uniforms, as per reports. Bureaucrats will replace their traditional bandhgala suits with magenta or deep pink Nehru jackets, complemented by deep pink shirts adorned with lotus flower patterns. They will pair these with khaki-colored pants.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Marshal attire changes</strong></h2>

<p>The dress code for the marshals in both houses of Parliament has also undergone alterations, as they will now be wearing Manipuri turbans. There is also an update in the uniform worn by security personnel.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The special session of parliament from September 18 to 22 will initially commence in the old parliament building and subsequently shift to the new facility on the day of Ganesh Chaturthi.</p>

<p>Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new Parliament building on May 28 this year.</p>

<h2><strong>What's the agenda for Special Session?</strong></h2>

<p>The agenda for the special session, announced by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi on August 31, remains undisclosed. This has sparked speculation among members and the public.&nbsp;</p>

<p>During this special session, the government may introduce a resolution to rename India as Bharat.</p>

Bureaucrats will replace their traditional bandhgala suits with magenta or deep pink Nehru jackets, complemented by deep pink shirts adorned with lotus flower patterns. They will pair these with khaki-colored pants. Marshal attire changes The dress code for the marshals in both houses of Parliament has also undergone alterations, as they will now be wearing Manipuri turbans. <p>The move in August by Russian companies to instead offer fertilisers at market prices could increase India's import costs and subsidy burden amid a rally in global prices, as a top exporter, China, tries to curtail overseas sales.</p>

<p>"There are no discounts," said a New Delhi-based senior industry official involved in the negotiations with overseas suppliers.</p>

<p>India's fertiliser imports from Russia surged 246 percent&nbsp;to a record 4.35 million metric tons in the 2022/23 financial year ended on March 31 as suppliers gave discounts to the global market price for DAP, urea and NPK fertilisers.</p>

<p>Russia's aggressive selling last year eroded the Indian market share of other fertiliser exporters including China, Egypt, Jordan, and the United Arab Emirates.</p>

<p>"Russian companies were offering DAP at discounts of as high as $80 (per ton). However, now they are not offering discounts of even $5," said another Indian company official.</p>

<p>The current price of Russian DAP is approximately $570 per ton on a cost and freight (CFR) basis for Indian buyers, which is the same price offered to other Asian buyers, said a Russian industry official.</p>

<p>Global fertiliser prices have been surging over the past two months, making it challenging for Indian companies to accumulate stocks for the upcoming winter season when demand for DAP rises for the wheat crop, said an official from a Mumbai-based fertiliser company.</p>

<p>According to the officials cited by Hindustan Times, all 18 National Institutes of Fashion Technology (NIFTs) were asked to suggest new designs for the uniforms.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"An expert committee finalised the new uniform from those proposals," one of the officials told the newspaper.</p>

<p>"These branches deal with MPs [members of Parliament] and other visitors. In many ways, they are the face of the Parliament secretariat. Their uniforms add to the dignity and glamour of the Indian Parliament," a second official was quoted as saying by the daily.</p>

<h2><strong>Pale blue safari suits for officers to become a thing of past</strong></h2>

<p>For the officers of the five departments as well, their pale blue safari suits will be replaced by cream-coloured jackets and pale white trousers.&nbsp;</p>

<p>This will be a significant change from the current range of safari suits in blue, fawn, Prussian blue and charcoal shades, depending on the section.</p>
