<p>A group of miscreants entered a residence in Baba Haridas Nagar locality in the Indian national capital of Delhi, masquerading as Enforcement Directorate (ED) officers. They made off with a staggering $384k in cash, leaving the neighbourhood in shock.</p>

<p>As per reports from the Delhi Police, one of the culprits has been apprehended, while intense operations are currently underway to track down the remaining perpetrators.</p>

<p>The team's quick action secured a substantial part of the stolen money. The police control room (PCR) team managed to intercept a suspicious vehicle in Narela area, recovering a substantial sum of $84.05k in cash.</p>

<p>The apprehended suspect was found in possession of a firearm and four live cartridges, raising more questions about the crime.</p>

<p>The victim of this heist is a young individual working in the private sector banking industry in Gurugram.</p>

<p>Identified by the alias 'Sundar,' the 25-year-old had recently completed a significant land sale transaction. He had received a payment of $384k in cash, securely storing it inside the confines of his home, tucked away beneath his bed.</p>

<p>The remainder of the sale price was received through two separate cheques.</p>

<p>As the investigation unfolded, the arrested suspect, identified as Amit, provided a crucial lead.</p>

<p>"The respondent (wife) is still ready and willing to take care of her husband and does not wish to leave him alone at this stage of life. She has also expressed her sentiments that she does not want to die with the stigma of being a 'divorcee' woman. It is governed not only by the letters of law but by social norms as well. So many other relationships stem from and thrive on the matrimonial relationships in society." Therefore, it would not be desirable to accept the formula of 'irretrievable breakdown of marriage' as a strait-jacket formula for the grant of relief of divorce under Article 142 of the Constitution of India," the bench added. "The respondent (wife) is still ready and willing to take care of her husband and does not wish to leave him alone at this stage of life. She has also expressed her sentiments that she does not want to die with the stigma of being a 'divorcee' woman. In contemporary society, it may not constitute a stigma but here we are concerned with the respondent's own sentiment," the bench said in its order. <p>India's retail inflation has seen a dip, reaching a three-month low in September, primarily due to softer vegetable prices. However, it still remains above the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) target of 4 per cent, which the central bank has emphasised as crucial before considering a rate cut.</p>

<p>According to official data, the annual retail inflation, measured by the Consumer Price Index, registered at 5.02 per cent in September, down from the previous month's 6.83 per cent. This figure was also lower than the expectations of a Reuters poll, which had forecasted a rate of 5.50 per cent. In June, retail inflation had stood at 4.81 per cent.</p>

<p>Food inflation, a major contributor to the overall consumer price basket, recorded a notable decrease from 9.94 per cent in August to 6.56 per cent in September. These numbers were encouraging but remained above the upper tolerance band of 2 per cent-6 per cent set by the RBI.</p>

<p>Vegetable prices, which had been a significant driver of inflation in recent months, saw a substantial reduction, dropping to 3.39 per cent in September from 26.14 per cent in the previous month. Similarly, cereal inflation also eased from 11.85 per cent in August to 10.95 per cent in September.</p>

<p>"The central bank is unlikely to shift away from its hawkish rhetoric for as long as there remains a significant risk of a renewed pick-up in food prices," Reuters quoted Thamashi De Silva of Capital Economics as saying. She further noted that despite the drop in headline inflation, the threat of food inflation persisted due to India's dry monsoon season.</p>

<p>In response to rising prices, the Indian government increased the cooking gas subsidy for low-income households from 200 rupees per cylinder in August to 300 rupees in an effort to mitigate inflation.</p>

<p>Reuters cited Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who also voiced concerns about global and regional uncertainties, stating that they might keep inflationary pressures elevated in the coming months. Reacting to the report, India's Ministry of Women and Child Development called the rankings as "flawed", adding that they failed to depict the true position of India.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Meanwhile, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Sri Lanka were ranked at 102nd, 81st, 69th, and 60th respectively by the GHI. In 2022, India was placed at the rank of 107 out of 121.</p>

<p>“The GHI continues to be a flawed measure of hunger and does not reflect India’s true position. The index is an erroneous measure of hunger and suffers from serious methodological issues. Three out of the four indicators used for the calculation of the index are related to the health of children and cannot be representative of the entire population. The fourth and most important indicator Proportion of Undernourished population (PoU) is based on an opinion poll conducted on a very small sample size of 3,000," said the ministry, in a statement.</p>

<p>The report, prepared by German NGO Welt Hunger Hilfe and Irish NGO Concern Worldwide, claimed that the child wasting rate of India was 18.7 per cent, which is the highest on the global level and signalled acute undernutrition.</p>

<h2><strong>Child-wasting figures&nbsp;consistently under 7.2%: India</strong></h2>

<p>Wasting is measured on the basis of the children's weight relative to their height. The undernourishment rate in India has been recorded at 16.6 per cent while the country's under-five mortality rate was 3.1 per cent.</p>

<p>The Indian government, while pointing towards its Poshan Tracker, stated that child-wasting figures have been consistently under 7.2 per cent, which contrasts the GHI's 18.7 per cent.</p>
