<p>This comes after Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly on Thursday (Oct 19) said “if we allow the norm of diplomatic immunity to be broken, no diplomats anywhere on the planet would be safe. So for this reason, we will not reciprocate.”&nbsp;</p>

<p>Over reducing the diplomatic presence of Canada in the country, India has already clarified that there must be a "parity" in Canadian diplomatic presence in India.&nbsp;New Delhi earlier ordered Ottawa to reduce its bloated&nbsp;diplomatic presence in India to 21 from 62.&nbsp;</p>

<p>India, while demanding a reduction in the number of Canadian diplomats, also cautioned Ottawa that if this was not made sure, it would remove the diplomatic immunity for them.</p>

<p>"We have seen the Statement by the Government of Canada on October 19 regarding Canadian diplomatic presence in India. The state of our bilateral relations, the much higher number of Canadian diplomats in India, and their continued interference in our internal affairs warrant a parity in mutual diplomatic presence in New Delhi and Ottawa," the Indian foreign ministry explained.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>MEA also stated that India has been engaged with the Canadian side in connection to this issue over the last month. It added that the discussions were held "to work out the details and modalities of its implementation."</p>

<p>"Our actions in implementing this parity are fully consistent with Article 11.1 of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations," MEA said. It quoted the article which read,&nbsp;"In the absence of specific agreement as to the size of the mission, the receiving State may require that the size of a mission be kept within limits considered by it to be reasonable and normal, having regard to circumstances and conditions in the receiving State and to the needs of the particular mission.”</p>

<p>Air India Express is set to expand ambitiously, planning to induct 50 new aircraft into its fleet within the next 15 months. This expansion will see the airline double in size over the next five years, targeting a fleet of about 170 narrow-body aircraft. The airline is also eyeing expansion into tier-2 and tier-3 cities in India, along with extending its reach to the Gulf, Middle East, and Southeast Asia.&nbsp;</p>

India and UK grapple with trade deal deadlock, talks extend into November: Report 

<p>India's External Affairs Ministry, on Thursday (Oct 19), said that the present situation in Gaza is unfavourable for an evacuation and the four Indian citizens stranded in the conflict-torn region will be repatriated as soon as New Delhi gets a chance.</p>

<p>"The situation in Gaza is difficult for any evacuation but if we get a chance, we will get them out," MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said.</p>

<p>"One of them is in the West Bank," he said.</p>

<p>Further condemning the unprecedented attack on Israel, Bagchi said that for now, there were no reports of any Indian casualty from Gaza.</p>

<p>He said that one Indian who was wounded in the attack has been receiving medical treatment and is now in stable condition.</p>

<p>"We would urge strict observance of international humanitarian law," he said.</p>

<p>"You have seen the Prime Minister's tweet. PM has expressed his concern over the death of civilians and extended his condolences to the families. India condemns all forms of violence," Bagchi said.</p>

<p>In a major push for the 'Make in India' campaign, tech giant Google will soon kickstart the manufacturing of Pixel smartphones in the country, a news agency said quoting a company executive.&nbsp;</p>

<p>This comes days after the Indian Prime Minister lauded Google’s partnership with Hewlett Packard (HP) to manufacture Chromebooks in India. Modi on Monday (Oct 16) virtually interacted with Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai and held discussions over Google’s plan to expand its electronics manufacturing in India.</p>

<p>While speaking at a Google for India event, Rick Osterloh, senior vice president of devices and services, said Google will collaborate with global and domestic manufacturers in a bid to produce these smartphones in India.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The production will kickstart from the Pixel 8 phones. As per reports, the first units are anticipated to become available in 2024. Earlier this month, Google launched Pixel 8 in India and other global markets. It also launched a premium Pixel 8 Pro model.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"This is an early step in a long journey of expanding our device production capacity and helping meet the country's growing demand for Pixel smartphones," Osterloh said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A police officer from the Indian state of Maharashtra has been suspended from duty for playing on a fantasy gaming platform, which led to him winning a whopping sum of money, media reports said citing officials.</p>

<p>The incident is related to Pimpri Chinchwad police in the northwest Pune city.&nbsp;The sub-inspector Somnath Zende is facing scrutiny for winning prize worth over&nbsp;$180,000 on the cricket gaming platform after being suspended.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The action taken against the police officer came after a probe into the matter about a week ago.&nbsp; As per reports quoting the officials, a departmental inquiry will now be conducted against the officer.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Police reportedly said the probe will examine&nbsp;if the actions of the officer were illegal and if rules pertaining to the law enforcement officers were violated.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The inquiry was conducted by Deputy Commissioner of Police Swapna Gore. Now, as the departmental inquiry is underway, the police officer will be kept under suspension.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The departmental inquiry will be conducted by another officer of DCP rank, as per reports quoting a senior officer of the Pimpri Chinchwad police.</p>

<p>In a landmark 3:2 judgment, the Indian Supreme Court decided not to legalise same-sex marriage and asked the union government to form a committee to examine the rights which can be given to LGBTQ couples. While the judgment may not have been in favour of them, it has paved the way for greater inclusivity for same-sex couples and laid the groundwork for future course of action.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Amit Bisoi, an LGBTQIA++ rights activist hailing from Puri, Odisha said, "There are a lot of positive remarks from three out of the five judges that emerged from today's session." The judgment, while refraining from legalising same-sex marriages, opened the doors to various rights that had been denied to the queer community for far too long, Bisoi said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Unmarried queer couples can now adopt children, and transgender persons can marry their chosen partner regardless of sexual orientation."</p>

Marriages are not meant to define husband or wife but life partners Hence, marriage is a union of soul, which must be in right for all," Adarsh said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Varun from the south Indian state of Hyderabad pointed out the power of the Supreme Court's ruling when it directed the centre, states, and Union Territories to end discrimination against the queer community.</p>

Amit Bisoi, an LGBTQIA++ rights activist hailing from Puri, Odisha said, "There are a lot of positive remarks from three out of the five judges that emerged from today's session." The judgment, while refraining from legalising same-sex marriages, opened the doors to various rights that had been denied to the queer community for far too long, Bisoi said. "Unmarried queer couples can now adopt children, and transgender persons can marry their chosen partner regardless of sexual orientation." I am no one to force anyone to believe in my existence, or no one has the right to come & harass me, my partner, or my family about my life and my choices," Bisoi said. "Centre should create policies that will protect LGBTQIA++ couples from getting harassed, discriminated, or hated by public eyes. This isn't about a specific community anymore. This is about future generations who will be born next," Bisoi added. The Indian Supreme Court's judgment, although not the final step, is a leap toward a more accepting society, where love knows no bounds, and every family is embraced for who they are. They are not giving up on their fight for love and equality. Another member of the queer community, Adarsh from Cuttack in the east Indian state of Odisha, spoke about the importance of recognising the fundamental right to marriage for all. "Marriage is just not an act, but rather a right and dignity for those who wish to tie in it in spite of their sex and sexual orientation. Marriages are not meant to define husband or wife but life partners Hence, marriage is a union of soul, which must be in right for all," Adarsh said. Varun from the south Indian state of Hyderabad pointed out the power of the Supreme Court's ruling when it directed the centre, states, and Union Territories to end discrimination against the queer community.
