The Supreme Court of India&nbsp;on Tuesday (May 14)&nbsp;granted bail&nbsp;to Gautam Navlakha, an accused in the Bhima Koregaon violence case, observing that the trial is unlikely to end&nbsp;soon.

A bench comprising Justices M M Sundresh and S V N Bhatti refused to extend the stay imposed by the Bombay High Court in December 2023 on its bail order. The court also stipulated that Navlakha must pay Rs 20 lakh to cover security expenses during his house arrest.

The bench pointed out that Navlakha has been in custody for over four years, the trial involves 370 witnesses, six co-accused have already been granted bail, and charges have yet to be framed.

“Prima facie we are of the view that there is no need to extend the interim order of bail. The appellant has been in incarceration for more than four years and charges are yet to be framed…the High Court by detailed order has deemed fit to grant bail. The trial would take years and years and years to complete…Thus…we are not inclined to extend the stay,” the court said and asked Navlakha to cooperate with the trial.

While granting Navlakha bail, the high court had said that “no covert or overt terrorist act has been attributed to him under Section 15 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967”.&nbsp;

Navlakha was placed under house arrest in Navi Mumbai under strict conditions following a November 2022 Supreme Court directive, citing his claimed poor health.

During the bail hearing for AAP leader Manish Sisodia on Tuesday (May 14), the Enforcement Directorate lawyer told the Delhi High Court that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) would also face charges in the case, with a supplementary chargesheet expected soon, according to ANI.

Despite there being only 17 arrests so far, more than 250 petitions have been submitted, causing the investigation officer to frequently appear in court, said the ED on delay in probe and trial while opposing Sisodia's bail request.&nbsp;This will be the first legal proceeding in which a political party is named as an accused.

The ED's counsel informed Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma, who is hearing arguments on Sisodia’s bail plea, that AAP would be named as a co-accused in the upcoming chargesheet.

The ED’s counsel also claimed that the accused are making efforts to delay the filing of charges in the case.

The ED lawyer submitted in court that the actions of Sisodia&nbsp;enabled Indospirits to earn profits of ₹192 crore&nbsp;during the 11 months when the Delhi excise policy was in force.

While seeking bail, Sisodia’s attorney argued that the ED and CBI continue to make arrests in the money laundering and corruption case, indicating that the trial will not be resolved quickly. 
 
The Enforcement Directorate is investigating the money laundering aspect of the alleged scheme. This development follows the Supreme Court granting Kejriwal interim bail to campaign in the Lok Sabha elections just a few days ago. 
 
After hearing all the arguments, the court reserved its order on Sisodia's bail plea.

A Delhi court , meanwhile, extended the judicial custody of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader K Kavitha until May 20 on Tuesday (May 14) in relation to the Delhi excise policy case. The Rouse Avenue Court postponed the hearing on the sixth supplementary chargesheet submitted by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) as part of their investigation.

Last Friday, the ED had submitted a nearly 200-page prosecution chargesheet with annexures under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The chargesheet names Kavitha, daughter of former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, along with three employees of Chariot Productions Media Pvt Ltd — Damodar Sharma, Prince Kumar, and Chanpreet Singh — and a former India Ahead news channel employee, Arvind Singh, as accused.

The standout performer in the domestic market is the two-wheeler segment, which recorded a remarkable surge in sales. Scooters, motorcycles, and mopeds registered significant year-on-year growth rates of 25.2%, 34.4%, and 20.0%, respectively. However, the data also highlights challenges faced by certain subsegments, notably e-rickshaws, which experienced a sharp decline of 49.5% in sales compared to April 2023. The positive trend extends to three-wheelers, with both passenger and goods carrier segments experiencing double-digit growth rates of 11.9% and 64.3%, respectively. Two-wheeler segment dominates The standout performer in the domestic market is the two-wheeler segment, which recorded a remarkable surge in sales. Scooters, motorcycles, and mopeds registered significant year-on-year growth rates of 25.2%, 34.4%, and 20.0%, respectively.
