The mother of the 17-year-old boy, accused of crashing his Porsche into two tech workers in India's Pune, resulting in their deaths, has requested police protection for her son after a fake video surfaced, allegedly showing him bragging about escaping consequences.

Meanwhile, Pune Police have announced an investigation into claims by the Opposition that the teenager received preferential treatment.

In a video message, the teenager's mother stated that the boy in the video was not her son and that the video was doctored. She mentioned that her son was currently in a detention centre.

"The video which is being circulated is not of my son. That is a fake video. My son is in the detention centre,” said the teen’s mother in her message, as reported by PTI.

A rap song, allegedly featuring the teenager bragging about evading consequences for the car crash, went viral on social media. However, the Pune Police have confirmed that the account is fake.

Meanwhile, a senior police official is likely to question the officers and staff of the Yerwada station regarding allegations that they downplayed the severity of the incident. They are also accused of delaying the medical examination to determine the boy's blood alcohol level.

Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi chief Prakash Ambedkar alleged that the teen was served burgers and pizza while in police detention.

"Officers at Yerwada Police Station spent more time questioning the relationship between Anish and Ashwini - IT professionals fatally knocked down by a drunk minor -while the accused was allegedly served burger and pizza" he wrote on X.

The police have denied the allegation.

Earlier, the teenager was brought before the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB), which granted him bail and instructed him to write a 300-word essay. Following public outrage, the bail was revoked, and he was sent to a remand home.

The police later arrested the boy's father for permitting his son to drive without a license.

According to the police, the father's driver informed him that his son wanted to drive the car. The father, a realtor, allegedly instructed the driver to give his son the car.

Before the accident, the boy had reportedly spent nearly ₹70,000 at two bars. The police have arrested the bar owners for serving him alcohol.
