Robert Vadra declared his support for wife Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who is running for the Wayanad seat vacated by her brother and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Vadra stated that he actively pushed Priyanka Gandhi to enter politics and assume a more significant role. "When it is the right time," he said, he will accompany her in Parliament too. "This time when the decision was being taken, I didn't take no for an answer. It is essential now for her to be in active politics and parliament and not just campaign. She works hard... the slogans she raises 'I can fight' ... if they are taken to the parliament, she'll be able to perform her duties even better," Vadra said. He thanked the people for participating in the recent elections and expressed his desire to see Priyanka in Parliamen. "She should be in Parliament, not because she has been campaigning, but because I want her to be there. She should be in the Parliament before me. I can follow whenever the time is right. I am happy, and I hope people will give her a good mandate," the news agency PTI quoted him as saying. Vadra emphasised the Congress Party's attempts to solve pressing concerns like religious polarisation, unemployment, women's safety, and inflation. He gave Rahul and Priyanka credit for their nationwide efforts and acknowledged their leadership in building a stronger opposition. Also read: Swati Maliwal writes to INDIA bloc leaders, says was 'badly beaten' at Arvind Kejriwal's house Vadra commented on the BJP's reaction to recent political developments, saying, "They're worried, troubled. They're huddling together to understand what next we can do. Priyanka will be raising the issues. She gave the slogan - 'Ladki hoon lad sakti hoon.' She fought for women for long. Voices of women will be raised. BJP should look at their history. They can't talk about Parivarvaad. People don't want to hear them anymore. We will fight them and ensure a secular government." Priyanka's choice to run from Wayanad in the south Indian state of Kerala is a key turning point in her political career. Rahul Gandhi, her brother, decided to hold onto the Rae Bareli seat in Uttar Pradesh, which led her to enter the Wayanad bypoll. If Priyanka, who has demonstrated her effectiveness as a campaigner, wins, the Nehru-Gandhi family will have three members of Parliament: Sonia Gandhi in the Rajya Sabha and her children Rahul and Priyanka in the Lok Sabha. The party performed better in the most recent Lok Sabha elections, winning 99 seats. (With inputs from agencies)

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi hit out at Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday (June 18) for "remaining silent" about the alleged anomalies in the NEET-UG 2024 exam, a key test for admission to medical colleges that was taken by millions.

His attack on the prime minister came shortly after the Supreme Court criticised the Centre and the National Testing Agency (NTA) for their handling of the NEET-UG 2024 exam, saying that even in the unlikely event that there was "0.001 per cent negligence" on anyone's part, it should be thoroughly addressed.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as usual, remains silent on the issue of over 2.4 million students' futures being jeopardised by the NEET exam scandal. Arrests in Bihar, Gujarat, and Haryana clearly indicate that there was a planned and organised corruption in the exam process, with these BJP-ruled states becoming the epicentre of the paper leak,” Rahul Gandhi posted on X in Hindi.

A day after sharing a post that made fun of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Pope Francis' meeting in Italy, the Congress party unit in the south Indian state of Kerala apologised on Monday (June 17) on its X account.

A day after sharing a post that made fun of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Pope Francis' meeting in Italy, the Congress party unit in the south Indian state of Kerala apologised on Monday (June 17) on its X account. "Finally, the Pope got a chance to meet God!," the Congress party's Kerala wing wrote on X with a photo of PM Modi and the Pope in the since-deleted post. This was a reference to PM Modi's earlier statement that he believed he had been "sent by God" for a specific reason. The tweet was swiftly denounced by the BJP, which claimed that the Congress had insulted both Pope and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Kerala BJP president K Surendran wrote on X, "The @INCIndia Kerala 'X' handle, seemingly run by radical Islamists or Urban Naxals, continues to post derogatory and humiliating content against nationalistic leaders. Now, it has even stooped to mocking the respected Pope and the Christian community." BJP IT Cell in-charge Amit Malviya sought an apology from Sonia Gandhi, the former president of the Congress, a Catholic, alleging that the Congress had a history of demeaning other faiths. "After mocking the Hindus and deriding their faith, the Islamist-Marxist nexus in the Congress has now come down to insulting the Christians. This, when Sonia Gandhi, the longest serving Congress President, herself is a practising Catholic. She must apologise to the believers," Malviya wrote on X. ഒരു മതത്തെയും മതപുരോഹിതന്മാരെയും ആരാധനാമൂർത്തികളെയും അപമാനിക്കുകയും അവഹേളിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നത് ഇന്ത്യൻ നാഷണൽ കോൺഗ്രസിന്റെ പാരമ്പര്യമല്ലെന്ന് ഈ നാട്ടിലെ ജനങ്ങൾക്ക് മുഴുവനും അറിയാം. എല്ലാ മതങ്ങളെയും വിശ്വാസങ്ങളെയും ചേർത്ത് പിടിച്ച് സൗഹാർദ്ദപരമായ അന്തരീക്ഷത്തിൽ ജനങ്ങളെ മുന്നോട്ടു… pic.twitter.com/Jg7HBh9BMw — Congress Kerala (@INCKerala) June 16, 2024 × Pope Francis' assertion that making jokes about God is not heresy was mentioned by Congress in retaliation. "When you manage to make intelligent smiles gush from the lips of even one spectator, you make even God smile. Pope Francis said this on Friday, 14th June on the same day after he met Narendra Modi," the party posted. Also read: Greek coastguard threw migrants into sea after tying their hands: Report The Congress's Kerala unit removed the tweet and expressed an apology for causing "any emotional or psychological distress to Christians" in the face of growing criticism. It made clear in a statement that it has no intention of insulting any religion or religious leaders. “No Congress worker would even entertain the remotest thought of insulting the Pope, whom Christians around the world see as God-like. However, the Congress has no qualms about mocking Narendra Modi, who insults the believers of this country by calling himself God,” the Congress statement said. “We also know that the Prime Minister has been keeping a studied silence on Manipur, where the minorities have been persecuted, and places of worship destroyed. Minorities faced persecution in Assam and Northeast and the PM has not uttered a word. We are calling out the hollowness of the PM towards the minority community and this camaraderie and this diplomacy [with the Pope] doesn't mean anything serious by the PM towards the Christian community,” Congress spokesperson Mathew Anthony said. Northern Railway's Chief Public Relations Officer, Deepak Kumar, has scheduled the inspection for June 27 and 28. Kumar promised that the required tasks would be completed in time for the CRS inspection.

Since 1997, the USBRL project, which spans 272 km, has seen 209 km commissioned in phases. By the end of the year, the last 17 km from Reasi to Katra should be finished, allowing a train to finally connect Kashmir with the rest of the nation. Officials said Thursday (Jun 13) that more than 1,500 tourists were also stranded in the state as the newly constructed bailey bridge at Sangkalang came crashing down, severing the link between Mangan and Dzongu and Chungthang. According to officials, landslides ended up blocking roads, damaging houses and destroying electricity poles.

While security forces have been dealing with multiple attacks in the Jammu region in the last one week, they have a new challenge to deal with. After decades, terror groups in the valley are using difficult-to-detect liquid Improvised Explosive Devices (IED'S).

According to top police sources, In a recent recovery by Jammu and Kashmir Police in South Kashmir's Pulwama district, the Over the Ground Workers led to the recovery of these difficult to detect liquid Improvised Explosive Devices (IED'S), which they had hidden in an apple orchard.

Jammu and Kashmir Police had recently killed Lashkar Terrorist Riyaz Dar and Rayees Dar in an operation and had busted a group of Over the Ground Workers in the same district.

Jammu and Kashmir Police had earlier said that ''Following the encounter of LeT commander Reyaz Dar and his associate Rayees Dar on 3/6/24, during further investigation, Puwamal police recovered 02 IEDs weighing 06Kgs from the OGW network of the slain militants. 03 arrests have been made for providing shelter and logistics support.''

The terror groups have changed a lot of their strategies in recent times. Also, a lot of foreign terrorists now remain mostly active in the Jammu region.

They cross the Line of Control or International Border and directly reach into Rajouri Poonch area which also becomes the first area of attack. On the other hand, security forces have this new challenge at hand, Liquid IED's are difficult to detect and can easily avoid general detection methods.

When the OGW network was unearthed, and three persons were arrested, it was revealed that the two slain terrorists had prepared IEDs which were subsequently recovered from the possession of Shakir Bashir who hid them in the orchards.

The said IEDs were packed in a plastic container along with the explosives, and active circuit trigger mechanism which weighed around 06 Kgs and was later destroyed in situ by Pulwama police and army.

According to the top police official, the forensic teams are working on the findings of the IED's destroyed in the orchard.

The Liquid IED is either trinitrotoluene (TNT) or nitroglycerine. The Police had recovered three bottles filled with white liquid packed in Plastic. Jammu and Kashmir Police had released the photos and also the video of an explosive device blast in an orchard.

The shift in the strategies of terrorist organisations in the Union Territory will pose a big challenge for the security forces this summer.

The Shiv Sena has voiced dissatisfaction with not getting any Cabinet positions in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's new National Democratic Alliance (NDA) cabinet.

The Shiv Sena has voiced dissatisfaction with not getting any Cabinet positions in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's new National Democratic Alliance (NDA) cabinet. This comes one day after Ajit Pawar's Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) voiced dissatisfaction about its MPs receiving a Minister of State position despite asking for a Cabinet position. The top leader of the Eknath Shinde-led party, Shrirang Barne, stated, "We were expecting a Cabinet berth," given the percentage of other NDA allies in the new Council of Ministers. "Chirag Paswan got five MPs, [Jitan Ram] Manjhi got one, JDS got two MPs... yet they received one Cabinet post each. Despite having seven Lok Sabha seats, why did Shiv Sena only receive one Minister of State (MoS) post with independent charge? Shiv Sena is an old ally of BJP. Shiv Sena should have received a Cabinet post at least for that," Barne said. Also read: First Modi 3.0 cabinet meet ends, govt to help 300mn people build houses On Sunday (June 9), NCP leader Ajit Pawar and Rajya Sabha MP Praful Patel described the Minister of State offer as a "demotion". They expressed their discontent with it just before the June 9 swearing-in ceremony. "Praful Patel, having served as a Cabinet minister in the central government, expressed that they didn't feel it was appropriate to accept the position of Minister of State with independent charge. So we told them [BJP] that we are ready to wait for a few days, but we want a Cabinet post. We are going to attend the swearing-in ceremony today," Ajit Pawar said on Saturday. In the recently ended Lok Sabha elections, Ajit Pawar's NCP secured one of the four seats out of a total of 48 seats in the western state of Maharashtra, while the Shiv Sena won seven of the 15 seats it fought. The BJP secured nine seats in the state. (With inputs from agencies)

The National Testing Agency (NTA) stated on Saturday that the education ministry has formed a four-person panel to examine the grace marks given to over 1,500 applicants in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test NEET-UG medical entrance test.

Despite problems impacting almost 1,600 applicants, NTA Director General Subodh Kumar Singh claimed during a press conference on Saturday (June 8) that the integrity of the test had not been compromised.

Singh said, “If needed, results will be revised for 1,600 candidates based on the committee’s recommendations.”

On May 5, more than 24 lakh students gave the NEET UG 2024 exam, which was held at 4,750 locations across 571 cities. Out of them, just 1,600 test takers from six different locations experienced issues.

”Initially, 17 students were in the topper list. Due to a Physics answer challenge, 44 candidates scored between 715 to 720, increasing the number of toppers to 61,” Singh explained.

The issues included inaccurate question paper distribution and damaged OMR sheets, which caused applicants to lose time during the examination. Following that, these applicants went to the High Courts, requesting a retest or compensation for time lost. The petitions were dismissed when the courts were notified of the committee's formation.

The committee then recommended that the impacted students get compensation marks. The committee of four members, under the direction of a former UPSC chairperson, will examine the Bahadurgarh centre in Haryana, which is one of the six affected centers. Officials noted that the compensating marks awarded will be consistent with the Supreme Court judgment of June 13, 2018.

There were rumors of a NEET UG paper leak before the NTA conducted the test. On May 5, the NTA conducted the medical admission exam according to schedule, despite allegations. The NEET 2024 results were revealed ten days earlier than planned.

In addition, because wrong question papers were sent, the NTA scheduled a re-examination at Girls Higher Secondary Model School in Mantown, Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan, for 120 students. According to the NEET UG results 2024, an unprecedented 67 students received a perfect score of 720/720, with 44 applicants scoring between 715 and 720.

“At a single examination center in Haryana, 8 students scored above 718, with 6 achieving 720/720, indicating blatant manipulation of results,” the All India Students Union (AISU) said.

The NTA refuted the claims of paper leak in a statement on May 6. The findings and recommendations made by the NTA expert committee will dictate the final steps to resolve the issues faced by the affected students.
