Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached&nbsp;Ladakh in a surprise visit to review the situation amid the ongoing face-off between Indian and Chinese forces.&nbsp;

The prime minister was accompanied by Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat and Army chief MM Naravane. Sources said 14 Corps Commander briefed them about the situation on the ground.&nbsp;

"Your valour, respect and sacrifice towards mother earth cannot be compared," the Indian prime minister told the troops at the border, adding: "your courage is higher than the mountains where you are posted."

"The bravery that you and your compatriots showed, a message has gone to the world about India's strength," the PM said.

"I pay tribute to the soldiers who lost their lives in Galwan Valley, from Leh, Ladakh to Kargil and Siachen and to Galwan Valley, everyone is a witness to the valour of Galwan soldiers."

"The enemies had seen the fury of the soldiers," he said. "This land in Ladakh is India's crown, it has given several Bravehearts to the nation," he said.

"Those who are weak can never initiate peace," he said. The Indian prime minister invoked poet Ramdhari Singh Dinkar, saying: " Whose battle cry, the earth is still drooling. The pen writes about his glory today. I speak your words with my voice today."

Referring to Lord Krishna, the PM said: "If we worship Krisna with a flute, the chakradhari bows his head in front of Krishna."

"We are the saame people who pray to the flue playing Lord Krishna but we are also the same people who idolise and follow the same lord Krishna who carries the Sudarshana chakra.

"The era of expansion has ended, now is the era of development, the idea of expansionism always destroys the world," he said.

"If India is buying modern warfare equipment the message is the same and&nbsp;if India is building modern infrastructure the message is also the same," he stressed. "The Indian defence forces have always shown their heroic deeds since World War-II."

"History is witness that expansionist forces have either lost or were forced to turn back," he said, adding." whenever I think of a decision based on national security, I think of the two mothers - the first is our Mother India and the second is our mothers who have given birth to the Bravehearts such as you."

PM Modi's visit to Ladakh is his second outside national capital Delhi since the outbreak of coronavirus. Earlier, he visited the eastern Indian city of Kolkata post destruction due to Cyclone Amphan.&nbsp;

New Delhi has been engaging with Individual countries as well, from recently announced the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Australia and India to maritime exercises with the Japanese in the Indian ocean.&nbsp;

India isn't in a mood to believe in Chinese much after the 15th of June violent face-off that killed 20 Indian soldiers. It is believed that any retreat at this juncture would be taken as a sign of weakness, further emboldening the CCP to broaden its strategy of ‘salami-slicing’.

Singh's comments were endorsed by his senior party member Rahul Gandhi, who in a tweet called the former PM's advice "important", adding "for the betterment of India, I hope the Prime Minister (Narendra Modi) will accept it politely."

As many as 20 members of the Indian Army were killed in the Galwan Valley late on Monday, the biggest military confrontation in more than five decades, which escalated the tensions between both the countries.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, on Thursday, superior military officers of both the countries held a dialogue for the third consecutive day on the disegngagement of troops as well as restoring normalcy in the region part of the dispute.

The incident in Galwan Valley is the biggest face-off between both the two countries after the 1967 clashes in Nathu La when India lost nearly 80 soldiers while over 300 troops of China were killed.&nbsp;

The border situation between both the countries deteriorated in the beginning of May when nearly 250 Chinese and Indian soldiers were engaged in a violent face-off on the banks of Pangong Tso in Ladakh. A similar clash followed in north Sikkim on May 9.&nbsp;

India's response came after Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lijian Zhao on Wednesday said that sovereignty over the Galwan Valley has always belonged to China and the Indian border forces seriously violated Chinese border protocols and consensus reached on commander-level talks.&nbsp;

China's claims over Galwan Valley 'exaggerated and untenable': India

Amid the escalating tensions between India and China on the border, the Trump administration has said that the US president is aware of it and Washington is monitoring the situation.&nbsp;

Trump earlier said, "If they -- if they thought it would help if I were the mediator or the arbiter, I would do that".

Earlier on Wednesday, he tweeted, "We have informed both India and China that the United States is ready, willing and able to mediate or arbitrate their now raging border dispute. Thank you!"

In the past, the US President has offered to mediate between India and Pakistan with New Delhi rejecting it saying all issues can be resolved bilaterally.&nbsp;

On the sidelines of BRICS summit, Chinese President Xi Jinping has invited Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for another visit to China next year.&nbsp;

"2020 will be here soon, and I hope China-India relations will achieve new and greater development in the new year," said Chinese president in a statement, reports Reuters. "I welcome you to come to China for another meeting next year."

This development comes after President Jinping met Modi last month in Chennai in India for the second <a href="https://www.wionews.com/india-news/chinese-president-xi-jinping-wraps-up-chennai-visit-leaves-for-nepal-255459">informal summit</a>. Both India and China sought to strengthen ties during Jinping's visit, which was a follow-up of Modi's informal visit to Wuhan in China in 2018.
