External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj Wednesday said she conveyed to several countries post-Pulwama attack that India will not escalate the situation with Pakistan but if there is any other terror attack from that country, then it will not remain silent.

In an address at a think tank on Modi government's foreign policy, she said Pakistan was worried that India would escalate the situation and she was contacted by a number of foreign ministers over it.

"I used to receive calls from foreign ministers who used to first condole the Pulwama attack, then express their solidarity and then they used to softly say that we think India will not escalate the situation," she said.

"To which I used to reply that no, I assure you India will not escalate the situation but if there is any other terror attack then we will not remain silent as we cannot say Pulwama as our destiny," she said.

Tensions between India and Pakistan escalated after Indian fighter jets bombed terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed's biggest training camp near Balakot deep inside Pakistan on February 26.

The first shipment of 570 tonnes of goods from Afghanistan arrived in India through the Chabahar port in Iran on Wednesday.

The Afghan goods arrived at the port of Nhava Sheva, Mumbai and Mundra. The goods were flagged off by Afghan President Ashraf Ghani a few days ago along with Indian envoy to Afghanistan Vinay Kumar in the western Afghan city of Zaranj, the capital of Nimroz province bordering Iran.

This is also the first shipment from Afghanistan which came via TIR system to India. TIR is ‘Transports Internationaux Routiers’ which is a UN convention that allows goods to be sealed in compartments and requires no need for physical checking of the contents. This enables shipments to pass through countries without being opened at borders.

Reacting to the developments, Umberto de Pretto, the general secretary of the International Road Transportation Union said, "The opening of Chabahar Port for TIR is hugely significant – offering connectivity for landlocked countries, seamless border crossing facilitation and intermodal capabilities. "

"It enables a facilitative and non-intrusive environment for multi-modal transport of goods through several countries. The convention will help in boosting India’s exports and enable greater participation in the global value chains," said Pranab Kumar Das, Chairman of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs (CBIC) of revenue dept in Ministry of Finance.

India joined the TIR Convention (the United Nations Customs Convention on International Transport of Goods under cover of TIR Carnets) on June 15, 2017.

In January, India formally established shipping lanes with the Chabahar port and now every 2 weeks Indian ships go from 3 Indian ports--Mumbai, Kandla and Mundra to the port in Iran.

India and Pakistan will hold talks on Thursday to decide the modalities of the Kartarpur corridor. The corridor was agreed upon by both countries in November 2018.

The talks will be held on March 14 on the Indian side of the Wagah-Attari border.

The draft memorandum of the agreement, which New Delhi shared with Islamabad, and border infrastructure alignment are the two major items on the agenda for the talks.

India says it is optimistic about having "meaningful and constructive" talks.

A government source told WION, "We approach these discussions with our objectives. Comments which came in the past from the other side speak for themselves, we hope tomorrow in the meeting we look forward to doing a constructive, meaningful and flexible approach from the other side which can help realise the objective of the Indian citizens to go to the gurudwara."

Asked about Pakistan's support for Khalistani propaganda which has reportedly been taking place around Sikh shrines in that country, he said, "We would certainly hope and would like to see that Pakistan doesn't work in a manner which is to the disappointment of the wishes and desire of the pilgrims and to indulge in any other propaganda and activities in terms of supporting successionist tendencies."

He added that India would bring up the matter during that talks which will begin at 10.30 am on Thursday.

Last year, on a number of occasions, Pakistan had reportedly allowed the dissemination of Khalistani propaganda. New Delhi had taken up the matter strongly with Islamabad.

There has also been concern regarding security, especially in the wake of the Pulwama attack. New Delhi has said that the "security architecture" around the corridor will be "foolproof, safe and intrusion-free".

India also dismissed the Pakistani Foreign Office's claim that visas were not given to the Pakistani media to cover the talks, saying it is a "technical and professional meeting and not an event".

The Indian delegation will include officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). The delegation will be led by SCL Das, MHA Joint Secretary (Internal Security) and Deepak Mittal, MEA Joint Secretary (Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iran).

India last week approved the building of a passenger terminal building (PTB) at a cost of Rs 190 crore which will be constructed by September 2019, ahead of the 550 birth anniversary of Guru Nanak in November.

The PTB will have 54 immigration counters to facilitate the passage of an expected 5,000 pilgrims a day. (The complex will also house a 300-foot-high Indian flag.) In phase two of the project, a 5-bed hospital and accommodation for 300 pilgrims will be set up.

New Delhi has already clarified that talking on Kartarpur does not mean the resumption of bilateral dialogue. "It is not a resumption of bilateral dialogue... it's related to emotions and sentiments of Indian citizens of Sikh faith and our decision to meet reflects our strong commitment to the operationalisation of Kartarpur Sahib corridor," MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar had said on March 9.

India no longer top weapon importer

An Indian newly-wed who died in the Nairobi-bound Ethiopian Airlines plane crash had texted her husband she would call him on landing, local media reported Tuesday.

Shikha Garg, who was travelling to attend the annual assembly of the UN Environment Programme, had got married less than three months ago to Soumya Bhattacharya after dating for three years.

Bhattacharya was also supposed to fly with her to Nairobi but a last-minute change in plans meant he stayed back in New Delhi, a leading Indian daily reported.

"I have boarded the flight and will call you once I land," Garg texted.

But before the husband could type a reply, his phone buzzed and a caller informed him about the plane crash, the newspaper said.

Bhattacharya had also bought a flight ticket for Nairobi but cancelled it because of an urgent meeting.

The couple, who lived in New Delhi, had instead planned a vacation after Garg's return from Nairobi.

On Monday, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said she was unable to get in touch with Garg's family and appealed for help on Twitter.

Later she said she had managed to speak to Garg's bereaved family members as well as those of other three Indians who died in the crash.

Garg was a consultant with the environment ministry and had taken part in the negotiations leading to the 2015 Paris climate accord.

The Nairobi-bound Boeing 737 MAX 8 crashed just minutes after an early-morning takeoff Sunday from Addis Ababa.

People holding passports from 35 countries were on board including some two dozen UN staff.

The aircraft was the same type as the Indonesian Lion Air plane that crashed in October, killing 189 passengers and crew.

The latest crash has prompted airlines across the world to begin withdrawing the model from schedules.

Indian aviation regulators on Monday ordered additional maintenance checks on Boeing 737 MAX 8 planes but ruled out any immediate grounding of the fleet.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday spoke to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan and Saudi Arabia's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Adel bin Ahmed Al Jubeir.

Terror remained the chief focus of the respective talks with the Prime Minister calling for "irreversible, verifiable and credible steps against all terrorists" without "any discrimination."

According to the Ministry of External Affairs release, PM Modi told the Turkish president that "terrorism remains one of the gravest threats to global peace and security". The Turkish president expressed his condolences for the victims of the Pulwama terror attack.

In his meeting with junior Saudi foreign minister Al Jubeir in Delhi, Prime Minister thanked the "leadership of Saudi Arabia for expressing full solidarity with India" in the fight against "terrorism in all its forms and manifestations". Al Jubeir briefed the Prime Minister on the "follow-up" of the outcomes of the recent visit of Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia to New Delhi.

There have been a number of high-level engagements between India and Saudi Arabia in the last few weeks. Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman was in India for a state visit from February 19 to 20. External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj met Saudi junior foreign affairs minister in the UAE on the sidelines of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) foreign ministers' meet earlier in March.

The Saudi minister also met Swaraj and agreed to set up the Strategic Partnership Council at the earliest. This is the second meeting between the two ministers in the last two weeks.

With the UAE, PM Modi thanked Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan for extending the invitation to India for the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) foreign ministers' meet in Abu Dhabi which took place earlier this month. The MEA release said, "He (the PM) expressed the hope that this historical participation would contribute to attaining the common objectives of peace and progress."

India was invited as the guest of honour at OIC's FMs meet for the first time much to the chagrin of Pakistan which tried to scuttle New Delhi's presence but ended up boycotting the event. This is the second interaction between the two leaders in the last 10 days.

It is interesting to know, PM Modi also had a video conference with Bangladesh's Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during which both the leaders unveiled e-plaques for various development projects in Bangladesh.

Both leaders unveiled e-plaques for the supply of buses and trucks, inaugurated 36 community clinics, 11 water treatment plants, and extension of India's National Knowledge Network to Bangladesh. This was the sixth video conference between PM Modi and Bangladeshi PM.

During the conversation, PM reiterated India’s support to Bangladesh's development and expressed confidence that bilateral relations between the two countries would continue to grow even further.

Russia's arms export to India fell by a whopping 42 per cent between 2014-18 and 2009-2013, according to a new report.

As a result, Russia accounted for 58 per cent of total Indian arms imports in 2014-2018, compared with 76 per cent in 2009-2013, according to the report "Trends in International Arms Transfers, 2018" released by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI).

In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's effort to reduce country's dependence on foreign arms, India's import of arms decreased by 24 per cent between 2009-2013 and 2014-2018, according to the figures released by the report.

This decline in India's import is also partly due to delays in deliveries of arms produced under license from foreign suppliers, such as combat aircraft ordered from Russia in 2001 and submarines ordered from France in 2008.

Still, India was the world's second largest importer of major arms in 2014-18 and accounted for 9.5 per cent of the global total.

Israel, the USA and France all increased their arms exports to India in 2014-18.

Pakistan's arms imports decreased by 39 per cent between 2009-13 and 2014-18. The US has become increasingly reluctant to provide military aid or sell arms to Pakistan. US arms exports to Pakistan fell by 81 per cent between 2009-13 and 2014-18, it said.

Pakistan has instead turned to other suppliers. For example, in 2018 it ordered 4 frigates and 30 combat helicopters from Turkey, it added.

The decrease in India's arms import is significant given that the volume of international transfers of major arms in 2014-18 was 7.8 per cent higher than in 2009-13 and 23 per cent higher than in 2004-2008.

The five largest exporters in 2014-18 were the United States, Russia, France, Germany and China. The five largest importers were Saudi Arabia, India, Egypt, Australia and Algeria.

The US was the top arms exporter in 2014-18 and 2009-13. Its exports of major arms grew by 29 per cent between the two periods and its share of total global exports rose from 30 per cent to 36 per cent. As a result, the gap between the USA and Russia - the second largest exporter - continued to widen.

In 2009-13, US exports of major arms were 12 per cent higher than those of Russia, whereas in 2014-18 they were 75 per cent higher.

Russian exports of major arms decreased by 17 per cent between the same periods.

The fall was partly due to general reductions in Indian and Venezuelan arms imports - two countries that have been among the main recipients of Russian arms exports in previous years, the SIPRI said.

"Although India remained the chief recipient of Russian arms in 2014-18, Russian arms exports to India fell by 42 per cent between 2014-18 and 2009-13. Arms exports to Venezuela, which was the fifth largest recipient of Russian arms in 2009-13, decreased by 96 per cent between the two periods," it said.

Breaking News: Indian General election dates to be announced today

Saudi Arabia's minister of state for foreign affairs Adel Al Jubeir will be in India on Monday for a brief visit. The visit, which will be just 4 hours 25 minutes long - according to the schedule released by the Ministry of External Affairs - will see the minister meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.

When asked about what will be the focus during the minister's visit, MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said, "My understanding is that he is visiting to discuss some important follow-ups from the recent visit of the Saudi Crown Prince to India."

On being asked if the minister is coming as a mediator in the backdrop of his Pakistan visit, Kumar said, "How did the question arise? In fact, I made it very clear and frankly there has been no offer of any mediation from any country. Not from the Saudis, not from any country that there can be any mediation and I think our position is very clear on that."

Last week, the minister was in Pakistan and met Pak Prime Minister Imran Khan and his foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi.

There have been a number of high-level engagements between India and Saudi Arabia in the last few weeks. Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman was in India for a state visit from February 19 to 20. External Affairs Minister met Saudi minister of state for foreign affairs in UAE on the sidelines of Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) foreign ministers' meeting earlier this month.

This will be the second meeting between Sushma Swaraj and Adel Al Jubeir in the last 10 days.

Continuing with its poetic praise on its personnel, the Indian Air Force on Sunday described Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman as someone who "hunted the hunter".

Posting a poem on its official Twitter handle @IAF_MCC, 'Sabke Bass Ki Baat Nahi', written by Bipin Allhabadi, the IAF described the fighter pilot's feat as something that is not possible for everyone.

What Abhinandan Varthaman did is not everyone's cup of tea. He hunted the hunter, the Hindi poem read.

Tensions between India and Pakistan flared up after a suicide bomber of Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terror group killed 40 Central Reserve Police Force personnel in Kashmir's Pulwama district on February 14.

India launched a counter-terror operation in Balakot on February 26. The next day, Pakistan Air Force retaliated and downed a MiG-21 and captured Varthaman.

However, in the air fight, the Air Force pilot had also shot down Pakistan's F-16 fighter jet.

After his capture and subsequent release, the Air Force pilot became an overnight sensation across the country.

On Friday, the IAF had tweeted another poem by the same poet 'Hadd Sarhad Ki', whose lines can be construed as a jibe at Islamabad.

Flightradar took to twitter saying, “Pakistan says it attempted to open one eastbound and one westbound transiting airway through Pakistani airspace between the Muscat and Mumbai FIRs (Notam A0258/19), but reciprocal connectivity was denied by Mumbai FIR (Notam A0357/19). Consequently, Muscat FIR has closed ALPOR to flights intending to transit Pakistan airspace.”

The aviation authority has opened only a part of the airspace for incoming and departing flights. Airports across the country including Karachi, Multan, Chitral, Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar, Quetta and Faisalabad where flight operations had resumed earlier this week will continue to operate as per schedule till 5 am on March 15.

The Notice to the Airmen, or NOTAM, was put in place on March 1 on the expiration of a previously issued NOTAM that was in place in the wake of tensions between India and Pakistan.

Kartarpur Corridor: India approves Rs 190cr passenger terminal building

India will be building a Passenger Terminal Building (PTB complex) on its side of the border along the Kartarpur corridor. The masterplan has been approved by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The PTB will be able to handle immigration and customs clearance facilities for 5,000 pilgrims every day.

The design of the complex has been inspired by "Khanda" - the symbol of Sikhism. The total cost of building the complex will be Rs 190 crores.

The complex, which will be built on 50 acres of land, will be developed in two phases. In the first phase, 15 acres will be developed, the land acquisition for it has already commenced.

The complex will have a fully air-conditioned building for disabled pilgrims with 21,650 sq/meters of built-up area. The complex will also have kiosks, cloakrooms and adequate parking space.

The second phase will include a viewer's gallery, a hospital and accommodation space for the pilgrims. A 300-feet national flag will also be erected at the International border as part of the complex.

The Land Ports Authority of India (LPAI) will be building the project before November 2019.

Indian and Pak officials will be holding the first talks on the modalities of the corridor on March 14 at Attari-Wagah border on the Indian side. However, New Delhi has clarified that the talks don't mean the resumption of dialogue with Pakistan.

MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar on Saturday said, "It is not a resumption of bilateral dialogue... it is related to the emotions and the sentiments of the Indian citizens of Sikh faith and our decision to meet reflects our strong commitment to the operationalisation of Kartarpur Sahib corridor".

In November last year, both India and Pakistan approved the building of the corridor.

Why China may not be acting on terror?

India has said that Pakistan's use of terrorism as an instrument of state policy is a "central problem" and the international community must unequivocally condemn terrorism and its perpetrators.

Addressing the 40th Session of the Human Rights Council on Thursday, Permanent Representative of India to the UN in Geneva Ambassador Rajiv Chander said, "Terrorism is the most fundamental violation of human rights and we overlook it at our own peril."

He told the Council that the "central problem is cross-border terrorism and Pakistan's use of terrorism as an instrument of state policy. This fact needs due recognition."

Chander called for a UN-led consensus on zero tolerance on terrorism, saying the international community needs to unequivocally condemn terrorism and those who perpetrate it.

"We firmly believe that UN-led consensus on zero tolerance on terrorism is as much an international obligation as it is a commitment to our own people. We all need to unequivocally condemn terrorism and its perpetrators,? he said at the Interactive Dialogue with the High Commissioner for Human Rights.

On the issue of Jammu and Kashmir, the envoy said India's views on the state have been made clear in the Council.

"The whole state of Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India. Pakistan remains in illegal occupation of a part of our territory," Chander said.

Earlier, Pakistan's Acting Permanent Representative Tahir Hussain Andrabi had made references to Kashmir in his statement to the Council.

Chander said India's efforts towards protection and promotion of human rights are second to none.

"This is reflected in the Constitution of India that guarantees its citizens fundamental political and civil rights and provides for the progressive realisation and enforcement of economic, social and cultural rights," he said.

The diplomat underscored that India is a secular state and safeguarding the rights of minorities forms an essential core of its polity.

"The Indian Constitution enshrines various provisions for the protection of rights and interests of the minorities. The State makes no distinction between caste, creed, colour or religion of a citizen," he said.

Chander underlined that along with being the world's largest democracy, Indian polity also weaves in immense diversity along with respect for tolerance and mutual understanding.

"An independent judiciary, free and vibrant media, and, a vocal civil society are all active in this regard within the legal framework of the State. National and State level Human Rights Commissions along with other specific Commissions continue to monitor complaints from minority communities regarding issues of discrimination and disadvantage faced by them," he said.

The government has issued Communal Harmony Guidelines which lay down Standard Operating Procedures to deal with communal violence, the envoy added.

Pak's use of terrorism as instrument of state policy 'central problem': India at UNHRC

Answering those raising questions over the Indian air strike on terror camp in Pakistan, Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday said brave warriors do not count bodies of those killed in an operation.

“Arre sankhya poochte ho aap, kitne log maare gaye? Sankhya poochne walo se kehna chahta hun, Jo yudh-veer hota hai, maare gaye logon ki ginti nahi karta hai (You are asking what is the casualty figure? I want to tell you that brave warriors do not count bodies of those killed),” he said while addressing party workers here in Rajasthan.

His comment came in the wake of questions being raised by various opposition parties about the casualties inflicted in the IAF strike at Jaish-e-Mohammed terror camp in Balakot in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on February 26.

IAF chief Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa has said that the Indian fighter jets had hit the targets given to them but it was not the job of his force to count the bodies.

Indian intelligence sources have said that there were 300 active sim-cards at the camp just before the air strike was conducted, giving a hint about the strength of the terrorists present at the facility.

The Home Minister also referred to the incidents of assaults on some Kashmiris in the country and said he has requested all states to ensure that the Kashmiris are “protected and loved”.

“Want to convey a message to the entire country. I heard about a few incidents against Kashmiri children. Kashmiris are, were and will remain our people. I have requested Chief Ministers of all states that Kashmiri students must be protected and loved,” he said.

Singh’s comments came against the backdrop of an incident in Lucknow on Wednesday when two Kashmiri dry fruit vendors were assaulted by some members of a right-wing fringe group. Four people have been arrested in connection with the incident.

Brave warriors do not count bodies: Rajnath answers those questioning casualties in air strike

The highest decision-making body of RSS, Akhil Bhartiya Pratinidhi Sabha (ABPS), started its three-day long deliberation session in Gwalior on Friday. What is surprising is that the topmost body will not discuss electoral politics but the swayamsevaks will create awareness in the society about casting their votes.

This Lok Sabha election is considered very important for the BJP because it has decided to take on the opposition on core issues like nationalism and the Ram temple.

ABPS is the highest decision-making body which meets once a year and a representative is chosen on every 2,000 swayamsevak. The meeting is important because it provides a road-map to the entire organization.

This time around, the RSS only intends to pass a resolution on the Sabarimala issue and the promotion of family values and challenges in contemporary India. But RSS did not refrain from espousing its position on the Ayodhya issue this time.

In a strongly worded statement, published in part of the annual report, the RSS expressed strong reservation on the Ram Janambhomi case.

In its annual report, the RSS stated, "In Ram Janambhomi case, instead of accelerating the judicial process to end the long-drawn dispute, the Supreme Court has taken a surprising stand. That the Supreme Court should find no priority for the sensitive subject associated with the deep faith of Hindu society is beyond understanding. We are experiencing that Hindus are constantly being neglected. While having full respect in the judicial system we would like to say emphatically that the judgment on the dispute must expedite and remove the obstacles in constructing a grand Ram temple."

The RSS was equally scathing on the top court when it came to the Sabarimala issue. Its statement read, "Reverence and values are the pivots of the Hindu society. These accepted norms and traditions guide social behaviour. Hence, it is not just the legal process but social tradition and acceptance which are also important. The Supreme Court in the Sabarimala case, without taking into consideration all relevant entities and customs, delivered a judgement even without the consideration of the different opinion of the lone woman member of the bench.”

The RSS also addressed the issue of terrorism in its report saying, "The external forces, with the help of some anti-national internal elements, are giving shape to violent incidents. The attack on the Army is very tragic especially the attack in Pulwama. Nobody should take our tolerance as a sign of weakness.” The RSS said that the current government must take strong action against the anti-national elements, adding that it had, indeed, done praiseworthy work in this direction.

RSS Joint General Secretary Manmohan Vaidya said that to improve the outreach of the organisation, both qualitatively and quantitatively, the six sah sarkaryavahs of the organisation have taken meetings with 12,000 swayamsevaks in 43 prants. It was also noted that over 1 lakh youth, ageing between 20-35 years, joined the organisation in a year’s time.

It was also noted that the RSS has reached 88 per cent of the blocks in the country through its 63,637 shakhas. Its work expanded to 54,472 mandals and the number of daily RSS shakhas increased to 59,266. The meeting focused on the issue of Sabarimala and challenges to the family system in contemporary India.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palaniswami Friday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to confer Param Vir Chakra, the country's highest military honour, on Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman, captured by Pakistan after a dogfight in the skies and released later.

In a letter to Modi, Palaniswami said the IAF pilot, a native of Tamil Nadu, displayed amazing poise and confidence in the face of adverse condition and it would be appropriate he be awarded the highest military honour.

He noted that Varthaman was released by Pakistan "due to the diplomatic initiatives" of the Prime Minister and "intense international pressure".

"Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman displayed amazing poise and confidence in the face of adverse conditions, which has won him many hearts across the country. It is appropriate that he be awarded India's highest military honour Param Vir Chakra (PVC) for displaying most inimitable gallantry and valour," the chief minister said.

"I request the Government of India to confer the nation's highest military honour, Param Vir Chakra, on Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman," he added.

Palaniswami recalled that the MiG-21 Bison aircraft piloted by Varthaman had shot down a Pakistan Air Force fighter (F-16) when it tried to violate India's air space and that he was later taken into custody by Pakistani armed forces.

Varthaman, who was captured on February 27, returned home on March 1 after Pakistan Prime Minster Imran Khan announced he would be released as a "gesture of peace".

According to the central government, Param Vir Chakra "is awarded for most conspicuous bravery or some daring or pre-eminent act of valour or self-sacrifice, in the presence of the enemy, whether on land, at sea, or in the air."

India has said Pakistan is indulging in propaganda to try and divert attention from the issue of terrorism. This was after Pakistan said Tuesday that it had stopped an Indian submarine from entering its waters.

"Over the past several days, we have witnessed Pakistan indulging in false propaganda and spread of misinformation. The Indian Navy does not take cognisance of such propaganda," the Indian Navy said in a statement.

Pakistan released a video of the Indian submarine purportedly trying to enter its waters.

Earlier in the day, WION learnt that on the diplomatic front New Delhi has informed the global community that no such movement of Indian assets (the submarine) had taken place and that "in fact, they are not in the vicinity."

New Delhi said Pakistan is playing up the situation to divert the "attention of the international community from our concern of terror to the so-called threat from India". It further added that "we should not fall for it".

Indian authorities said Tuesday that the video released by Pakistan matches a similar video released by Pakistan in 2016, which made the same claim then, suggesting Pakistan is trying to shift focus.

After India's air strike on February 26 and Pakistan's counter-strike, Islamabad had informed foreign envoys in Pakistan that India planned to bomb Karachi. When approached by the world community, New Delhi clarified that that was not the case.
