"We have nobody on board to check if it's true or not," he said.

A Yemeni government team on Monday (Feb 26) had visited the Rubymar and said that the vessel was partially submerged. A government statement on Saturday also said that the ship had sunk in the southern Red Sea on Friday night.

The day after the attack, Yemen's rebel group spokesperson Yahya Sarea released a statement saying that the Rubymar was now at risk of sinking.

Earlier, there were reports that the ship could be towed to nearby Djibouti.

"Djibouti is the only immediate option where some repairs or recovery would be feasible," Reuters news agency quoted shipping and insurance sources as saying. "It is too risky for a ship in that condition to be towed too far or in more open waters."

The Djibouti Ports &amp; Free Zones Authority on Feb 19, a day after the attack, had released a statement on its official X account saying that its Port Authority completed the safe repatriation of the Rubymar’s 24 crew members - 11 Syrians, six Egyptians, three Indian nationals, and four Filipinos – who were brought to the Djibouti area by the rescue vessel.

"The vessel has onboard 21,999 MT (metric tonnes) of fertiliser IMDG class 5.1, very dangerous," the authority said, adding the ship’s AIS transponder was switched off and it did not know the coordinates of the vessel.

The strikes "specifically targeted 18 Houthi targets across eight locations in Yemen" &nbsp;which included weapons storage facilities, attack drones, air defence systems, radars and a helicopter, according to a joint statement.

It was co-signed by Australia, Bahrain, Denmark, Canada, the Netherlands and New Zealand.

All these countries gave unspecified "support" to the new round of strikes, which is the second such move in the month of February and the fourth since the Iran-backed rebels began launching targeted attacks at ships in the region.

"The Houthis' now more than 45 attacks on commercial and naval vessels since mid-November constitute a threat to the global economy, as well as regional security and stability, and demand an international response," the statement said.

Houthi-run Al-Masirah television reported "a series of raids on the capital Sanaa," while AFP correspondents in the rebel-controlled city in western Yemen said they heard several loud bangs.

Yemen’s Houthi rebels said Tuesday (Feb 6) they attacked two more ships in the Red Sea, causing damage to both of them. The US military’s Central Command also confirmed the missile attacks on Star Nasia and Morning Tide, the two vessels.

“Three of the Anti-Ship Ballistic Missiles (ASBMs) were attempting to hit MV Star Nasia, a Marshall Island-flagged, Greek owned-and-operated bulk carrier transiting the Gulf of Aden,” the command said in an X post. The ship reported minor damage caused by a nearby explosion; however, the crew remained safe.

“The remaining three ASBMs were likely targeting MV Morning Tide, a Barbados-flagged, UK-owned cargo ship operating in the Southern Red Sea. The three missiles impacted the water near the ship without effect,” the command added.
