Israel-Hezbollah Agree on Ceasefire, But Violence Continues

Questions are growing over the future of the Iran-U.S. agreement as Israel intensifies military operations in southern Lebanon. The latest developments have added fresh uncertainty to efforts aimed at reducing tensions across West Asia. Analysts warn that continued regional instability could complicate diplomatic progress between Washington and Tehran.

Iran-US Deal Under Scrutiny As Israel Pounds South Lebanon

Tensions in the Middle East have surged as Israeli strikes on southern Lebanon reportedly killed dozens, intensifying fears of a wider regional escalation. The violence comes amid scrutiny of the Iran–US agreement, with Lebanon once again emerging as a key flashpoint between Israel and Hezbollah. As airstrikes continue and political pressure builds, questions are being raised about whether fragile diplomatic efforts can hold or if the region is sliding further into conflict.

The US-Iran MoU that was to be signed face-to-face on June 19 in Switzerland was abruptly cancelled following the escalation by both Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon. Even as Israel is facing severe diplomatic backlash over its military operations in both Gaza and Lebanon, it maintains that it has no intention of withdrawing its forces from Lebanon and claims that the conflict with Hezbollah is separate from the war on Iran. The process is further complicated due to the Western proscription of Hezbollah as a terror outfit. Israel continues to assert that Hezbollah is a Western-designated terrorist outfit, which it reserves the right to attack and engages with the Lebanese government diplomacy which is arguably incapable of fighting Israel.
