The `Avengers` actor recently appeared on the Today show to promote her Netflix series `The Politician` and said that she was scared to come forward but ultimately thought of her 15-year-old Apple and felt the need to speak up. 
 
"I was really scared. I think society had shown us only basically examples where women coming forward ended up not being advantageous for the woman but I really felt like it was time," Paltrow said of her decision to speak up. 
 
"I think also having a teenage daughter that`s the love of my life, and worrying about her going into the workplace and feeling like if there was ever a chance that there could be a cultural shift on this stuff, I wanted to participate in," she added.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Rotunno, a former Chicago prosecutor who specializes in the defence of men accused of sex crimes, said in an interview that she rejected the #MeToo movement.

"I’m not a woman who has ever subscribed to it,” Rotunno told the paper. “I believe women are responsible for the choices that they make."

Weinstein has seen a string of high-profile lawyers come and go from the case since his indictment last year.

Attorney Jose Baez asked a Manhattan justice to excuse him from the case earlier this month, the New York Post reported, saying that Weinstein had "engaged in behaviour that makes this representation unreasonably difficult to carry out effectively."

Deloitte alone revealed that it had fired 20 of its partners in Britain over the last four years for bullying and sexual harassment.

"We will fire people for any inappropriate behaviour. No one is protected," Deloitte chief executive David Sproul told the Financial Times.

It was the FT that in January revealed the sexual harassment of hostesses at an all-male London charity dinner at the Presidents Club, attended by 360 businessmen and politicians.

Companies whose executives had attended rushed to distance themselves from the event and, within days of the scandal breaking, widespread condemnation led the club to announce its closure.

On Tuesday, Bloomberg reported that one of HSBC'S London-based executives had left the bank after being accused by a younger female staffer of "inappropriate conduct" in a New York hotel bar.

HSBC said in a statement: "An allegation was made against an individual. We dealt with it directly, robustly and appropriately."

In the insurance industry, around 50 companies signed up to a good conduct charter, the Inclusive Behaviours Pledge, to try to counter the problem of harassment.

One of its main backers was Inga Beale, at the time chief executive of Lloyds of London and known as an outspoken advocate for a more welcoming environment for women in business.

She described the charter as a public commitment "to challenge inappropriate behaviour and create an increasingly welcoming and inclusive workplace for the diverse talent powering our sector".

Beale, who became the first woman to head up a major insurance company in 2014, said she was proud of the progress made in this area since the 1980s.

But she cautioned, "...the job isn't over yet".

The prosecution has admitted to a new embarrassing error in the Harvey Weinstein case, saying a police detective told one of the disgraced Hollywood producer's accusers to delete from her phone anything she wanted to keep private.

In a letter to Weinstein's attorney dated Tuesday, prosecutor Joan Illuzzi-Orbon acknowledged that the lead detective had made the recommendation to one of two women accusing Weinstein in the case, in which he faces charges of rape and a forced oral sex act.

"My office had asked Complainant 2 to produce any and all cellphones that she might have used during the time she interacted with the defendant," the letter said.

But the detective told her she "should delete anything she did not want anyone to see before providing the phones to our office."

Illuzi-Orbon says the woman ultimately handed over the phones "without any deletions," but the admission further weakens the prosecution's case.

"This new development even further undermines the integrity of an already deeply flawed indictment of Mr Weinstein," his lawyer Ben Brafman was quoted by a spokeswoman as saying.

The lawyer requested in August for the whole case to be thrown out and is awaiting a decision of the judge. The next hearing is scheduled for December 20.

The New York Police Department said "the evidence against Mr Weinstein is compelling and strong," according to a statement published in The Los Angeles Times.

"The NYPD will continue its work with the prosecution to deliver justice for the courageous survivors who have bravely come forward."

Weinstein, an international pariah after being accused by more than 80 women of sexual misconduct, is out on a $1 million bail and denies any non-consensual sex.
