Yi said that in the bilateral relationship, the most important thing last year was the summit meeting between President Xi Jinping and Indian PM Narendra Modi in Kazan.

Prior to the meeting, EAM Jaishankar stressed that India and China are members of BRICS, SCO and G20. "There are also regional and global issues of mutual interests wherein the exchange of perspectives will be to our mutual benefit. I look forward to our conversation today."

He pointed that gatherings like the G20 have provided opportunities for dialogue even during challenging phases in India-China relations.&nbsp;
Jaishankar acknowledged the collaborative efforts of both the countries in supporting G20 amid a polarized global landscape, highlighting the importance of international cooperation.
&ldquo;Such gatherings have provided an opportunity for our interaction even when our ties were going through a difficult phase,&rdquo; Jaishankar said. &ldquo;We should also recognize that in a polarized global situation, our two countries have worked hard to preserve and protect the G20 as an institution.&rdquo;

He further mentioned key visits by the Indian NSA and Foreign Secretary to China since the leaders' last meeting during the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro in November last year.

The event is being attended by the likes of US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang, British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly and Australia's Penny Wong, among others. India has taken over the G20 presidency this year and is hosting the foreign ministers meet.&nbsp;

While the Russia-Ukraine war is likely to be in focus, several others issues such as economic growth, increasing inflation, lower demand for goods and services as well as increasing prices of food, fuel and fertilisers, will also take centre-stage at the meet. Besides member nations, several foreign ministers of non-G20 countries, including that of Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, are also attending the meet as guests, following India's invitation.&nbsp;

WION correspondent Sidhant Sibal caught up with Bangladesh's Minister of Foreign Affairs AK Abdul Momen on the sidelines of the meet and spoke on a range of issues, from the impact of the Russia-Ukraine war, to India's G20 presidency.&nbsp;

Talking about the issues he hopes will be taken up at the meet, Abdul Momen said India should raise issues related to the Global South. Notably, India has emerged as the voice of the developing South Asian countries in recent years. "We feel very honoured that India has invited as a guest at the meet. We request India to raise issues of the Global South at the G20 foreign ministers meet," he said.

Abdul Momen also spoke about how the Russia-Ukraine war is impacting the world, with rising inflation being the biggest worry. "Due to the Ukraine war, we have been suffering a lot. Our inflation has gone up, our subsidies have gone up," he said.

"The war should stop, and G20 nations should try their best to stop the war."

Abdul Momen was also all praise for India's G20 presidency. "We feel very proud of India that it has taken leadership of the south," he said.&nbsp; &nbsp;

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived in the Indian capital, New Delhi, on Wednesday, to attend the G20 Foreign Affairs Ministers' Meeting.&nbsp;The US diplomat while speaking with reporters in Tashkent earlier, said, he has no plans to meet Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang at the G20 Foreign Affairs Meeting in New Delhi.&nbsp;

"No plans to see either (China or Russia's foreign ministers) at the G20, although I suspect that we will certainly be in group sessions of one kind or another together," Blinken told reporters in the Uzbek capital.

The G20 foreign ministers' meeting comes days after India hosted the G20 finance ministers' meeting in Bengaluru in the Indian state of Karnataka.&nbsp;India's G20 presidency comes at a crucial time when the war in Ukraine continues to wage on. The meeting brings leaders from all the major economies under one umbrella, however, there are differences in the members of the grouping over the war.&nbsp;

The conflict in Eastern Europe emerged as one of the major points of discussion during the finance ministers' meeting.&nbsp;As there was no consensus, the meeting had to be concluded without a joint communique and only a “chair’s summary and outcome document” which is said to simply summarise the talks and noted disagreements was released.&nbsp;

Blinken arrived in India after wrapping up his visit to the Central Asian Nations of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.&nbsp;

His first visit was to Kazakhstan where he met his counterpart. Blinken on Tuesday held talks with Kazakh foreign minister Mukhtar Tileuberdi and Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.&nbsp;

Later, Blinken took part in a meeting of the "C5+1" diplomatic platform, which represents the US approach to Central Asia, jointly engaging all five Central Asian governments, namely Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.&nbsp;

The verbal confrontation between Russia and the West was on full display as the world leaders gathered in the Indian capital of New Delhi for the G20 foreign ministers' meet on Thursday.&nbsp;On the sidelines of the G20 meeting,&nbsp;Russia and its ally&nbsp;China&nbsp;let out their disgruntlement over the West's position on the Ukraine war in a heavily worded statement.&nbsp;

Both nations chastised the West and accused it of interfering with the internal affairs of other countries. &nbsp;

“A unanimous rejection was expressed on&nbsp;attempts to interfere in the internal affairs of other countries, to impose unilateral approaches through blackmail and threats, and to oppose the democratisation of international relations,” the Russian foreign ministry said in a statement.&nbsp;

The statement was released after Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov met Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang and held talks on the sidelines of the G20 meeting.&nbsp;

Earlier, at the G20 finance ministers' meeting in Bengaluru, the members of the grouping failed to reach a joint communique over their lack of consensus.&nbsp;

Soon after, Indian External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar confirmed that because of the "differences" over the Ukraine conflict, the meeting will only have an outcome document and not a joint statement.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;

"There were issues and very frankly they were concerned with the Ukraine conflict. There were divergences. There were differences, which we could not be reconciled," Jaishankar said.&nbsp;
