Per a PTI report, a few of India’s first-team players will feature for India A against England Lions. Following their below-par outings against both New Zealand and Australia earlier, the BCCI could force them to play red-ball cricket before the crucial England tour begins, ensuring both return to some form and help India avoid any more hiccups in their quest for a maiden WTC title. While Rohit scored just 31 runs across three Tests Down Under, batting at different positions, Kohli managed a paltry 190 runs from nine innings against Australia, which included a hundred in the series opener in Perth.

Kohli and Rohit to play India A matches ahead of England Tests – Report

Son of former England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff, Rocky, has made an instant impact on the global stage by smashing his maiden ton on Thursday (Jan 23). Playing against Cricket Australia XI at Allan Border Field in Brisbane, Rocky Flintoff scored 108 before he was dismissed. The ton comes on his second international tour at 16, giving glimpses of his father, who helped England win the 2005 Ashes. Interestingly, Andrew was in the dugout as the head coach of the England Lions during the match.

Rocky makes instant impact

Coming out to bat at No. 9, Rocky scored 108, carrying on with the legacy of his father at teenage. His innings consisted of 9 fours and 6 sixes and he scored at a healthy strike rate of 85, having faced 127 deliveries. This innings came after the captain, Alex Davies, had scored 76 off 109 and stitched an opening partnership of 50 runs followed by a batting collapse.

Freddie McCann’s 51 was the only other significant inning for the England Lions before Flintoff stole the show with his superb all-round display. He scored runs at a decent rate to take his side above 300 and establish a first innings lead for the visitors.
In doing so, Rocky replicated his father, who represented the national side for over a decade. He famously helped England win the 2005 Ashes, ending the 18-year drought. He represented England in 79 Test matches and 141 ODIs and had a career stretching over a decade. During this period, he also helped England finish runners-up in the 2004 Champions Trophy as they narrowly missed out on glory.

Like father, like son: Andrew Flintoff's child Rocky scores maiden ton for England Lions

London, UK
Ashes hero Andrew Flintoff is to coach his son on next month's England Lions cricket tour of Australia.
Rocky Flintoff, 16, has been included in England's second-string side during a tour that will include two four-day matches against a Cricket Australia XI in Brisbane, followed by a 'Test' against Australia A in Sydney.

Flintoff junior was a late inclusion in the Lions squad during their training camp in South Africa earlier this month.
An all-rounder, like his father, Rocky made his debut for Lancashire during the summer and has impressed for the England Young Lions.
The 16-strong squad announced Wednesday for the Lions' tour of Australia also includes five players—Shaib Bashir, Pat Brown, Tom Hartley, Josh Tongue, and John Turner—who have represented England at senior level.
Andrew Flintoff, a star of England's 2005 Ashers series win over Australia, returned to cricket last year after a horrific car crash while he filmed for the BBC's Top Gear television programme at the end of 2022.
He became involved with the England white-ball set-up and went on to coach the Northern Superchargers in the English domestic game's Hundred competition.
Having filmed the second series 'Freddie Flintoff's Field of Dreams' series, where he introduces young people to the sport, the 47-year-old former England captain told Britain's PA news agency: "I always wanted to do something in cricket and I was never quite sure what it was.
"I have dabbled a little bit, I've done a bit of commentary, which I didn't particularly like and it's not really me. I have always had an ambition to coach but I'm not quite sure my route to doing that, or who I'd coach and let's be honest, who'd have me?"
