According to the report, buyers unknowingly have either used an international credit card or used links sent by the realtor to pay the initial booking amount.“The recent round of ED notices has gone to individuals who may have unknowingly used credit cards to buy UAE properties. They should approach the RBI to regularise the mode of payment. RBI may take a lenient view as the money is legitimate even if the mode of payment is wrong,” said Rajesh Shah, partner at the &nbsp;CA firm Jayantilal Thakkar.<h2>Can Indians use foreign credit to buy foreign property?</h2>For Indian citizens, purchase of property abroad is governed by the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) and the RBI's Liberalised Remittance Scheme (LRS). The ED began its investigation in the case in 2021 on the basis of a June 2014 order from Delhi&rsquo;s Patiala House court based on a private complaint filed by the BJP&rsquo;s Subramanian Swamy. The National Herald is a newspaper published by AJL and owned by Young Indian. Sonia and Rahul are majority shareholders in Young Indian, with 38 per cent shares allotted to each.

"You (BJP) are politicising the issue of school children getting threats... The first threat was given in May 2024. After almost 9 months now, the Delhi police have given no statement but the BJP leader Sudhanshu Trivedi is holding a press conference. He is telling stories of different NGOs, he knows everything... There was no investigation for 10 months but now 15 days before the elections, they are narrating fabricated stories...," AAP MP Sanjay Singh said.

The Delhi police on Tuesday said that the Class 12th student who was held for allegedly sending bomb threat emails to over 400 schools in Delhi was linked to an NGO that was linked to a political party.
"We were tracking e-mails and because of a virtual private network (VPN), it was difficult to track the origins. We also had to ascertain whether there was a terror angle to it," Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Oder) Madhup Tewari said at a press conference, according to news agency PTI reports.
"Our teams tracked the minor after recent e-mails on January 8. As the e-mail sender was a juvenile, the team took his laptop and mobile phone for a forensic examination," Tewari said.
&ldquo;The emails were sent in a very sophisticated manner, including the use of VPNs. Hence, we had difficulties in tracing the emails," he further added.

BRS leader and party working President K T Rama Rao, the son of former Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, has been named as accused number one&nbsp;followed by senior IAS officer Arvind Kumar and retired bureaucrat BLN Reddy as accused number two&nbsp;and three in the ACB complaint.

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy also attacked Rama Rao for these alleged irregularities, saying about Rs 500 crore was saved with the state government under him deciding against further transfer of funds to the organisers of the racing event.

Rama Rao, who was the Municipal Administration minister during the BRS regime, was instrumental in hosting the race last year in Hyderabad.

Though the race was supposed to be held in February this year as well, it was cancelled after the Congress government assumed office in December 2023.

In a linked development, the Telangana High Court on Friday directed the ACB officials not to arrest Rama Rao till December 30 as part of their investigation into the case.

High Court judge Justice Natcharaju Shravan Kumar Venkat was hearing a Lunch Motion petition moved by Rama Rao seeking to quash the FIR filed against him by the ACB.

Governor Jishnu Dev Varma had recently granted permission to the ACB to register the case against Rama Rao.

The Enforcement Directorate has recorded the statements of actors Mallika Sherawat and Pooja Banerjee in a money laundering case against a betting website. The website is allegedly owned by Pakistani nationals and has illegally "broadcast Men's T20 World Cup matches". 
 
The federal agency had undertaken fresh searches in this case last week in Delhi, Mumbai, and Pune as part of the probe against portal Magicwin. 
 
Sources told PTI that ED had asked Sherawat and TV actor Pooja Banerjee to respond to some queries in this case by email or through an official representative.

They said 48-year-old Sherawat submitted her statement to the ED's Ahmedabad office last week by sending her replies through an authorised representative and email. At the same time, Banerjee was deposed before the investigation officer (IO) and got her statement recorded under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

Sherawat has acted in a number of Hindi movies while Banerjee has been part of several TV shows including Kasautii Zindagii Kay.

Both their names were listed in the case as they were involved in some promotion activity related to Magicwin. They are, prima facie not found to be an accused in the case, as per the sources. The agency is expected to question some more actors and celebrities in this case soon.

The ED, in a statement issued on Tuesday, said a "launch party" held for the portal, where several "B-town celebrities" attended and endorsed Magicwin, is under its scanner.

These celebrities also did video and photo shoots for Magicwin and posted them on their social media accounts for its "promotion". Advertisements were also done through hoardings out of home (OOH) in various parts of India including Gujarat and Maharashtra, the agency said.

<h2>The case against Magicwin</h2>

The money laundering case is based on an FIR registered by the cybercrime unit of the Ahmedabad Police in Gujarat. Magicwin, according to the agency, is a "betting" website "guised" as a gaming portal that is "actually owned" by Pakistani nationals.

The operations of this website are mostly handled by Indian nationals working or settled in Dubai, it said. "The betting games being shown on the website are originally played in the Philippines and other countries which allow betting activities," it said.

Raj Kundra's residence was searched by the Enforcement Directorate on Friday Morning. The ED conducted searches in 15 locations around Mumbai and Uttar Pradesh including Kundra's residence. Kundra is married to Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty.&nbsp;
