A day after the Delhi High Court dismissed Kejriwal's petition challenging his arrest in the liquor policy case, the Delhi Chief Minister on Wednesday (Apr 10) approached the Supreme Court.

<h2>An urgent hearing</h2>

As per media reports, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader's legal counsel was going to raise the matter before Chief Justice of India, DY Chandrachud, around 10:30 am, seeking an urgent hearing.

On Tuesday (Apr 9) the Delhi High Court dismissed Kejriwal's challenge to his March 21 arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).&nbsp;

It said that the central agency was left with "little option" after Kejriwal skipped repeated summons and refused to cooperate with the investigation against him.

The court also chastised the AAP leader for questioning the timing of his arrest just ahead of the general elections and said the investigation against the "classes and masses" cannot be different.

<h2>Opposition calls for Kejriwal's resignation</h2>

On Tuesday, after the High Court rejected his appeal, BJP opposition leader Bansuri Swaraj called for Kejriwal's resignation. She also alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party used ₹100 crore (around $12.15 million) in party activities.&nbsp;

"With today's judgment, the Delhi high court has made it clear that Arvind Kejriwal had a very important role in the liquor scam and being the chief of AAP he was involved in it," said Bansuri.

"The court saw all the facts. The High Court has also made it clear that his arrest is not illegal at all. I think Arvind Kejriwal should resign on moral grounds," she added.

"Kickbacks worth ₹100 crore were taken in the Excise policy case, which was used by the AAP in its party activities. The court saw all the facts given by ED. The court went through the Hawala transactions. The court saw the statement by the approver," alleged the Bharatiya Janata Party leader.

Aam Admi Party (AAP) leader Atishi on Saturday (Apr 6) hit out at the Enforcement Directorate stating that the probe agency has established no money trail in the Delhi excise policy scam probe, yet it arrested AAP leaders on the basis of mere doubt.

She then asked the ED to take stern action against BJP leaders over alleged money laundering.

The Delhi minister also accused the BJP of filing false cases against AAP through central agencies like ED, the Central Bureau of Investigation, and the Income Tax and Election Commission.

Her remarks come following a showcause notice sent by the Election Commission on Friday (Apr 5) over her claims where she alleged that the BJP, through one of her close aides, approached her to join the saffron party or else be ready to be arrested by ED within a month.

"ED has been investigating the money trail in this so-called liquor scam. ED is still investigating the money trail linked to any leader of AAP, but they didn't get a single penny of proceeds from crime from any AAP leader," Aishi said during a presser on Saturday.

"The Supreme Court has continuously asked ED, where is the money trail linked to AAP?... But ED has no answer for this. Justice Sanjiv Khanna says the money trail has not been proven, it's debatable. But many AAP leaders have been arrested under this case even after no money trail," she said.

Sirsa stated that the BJP would not accept a corrupt leader like Atishi "and&nbsp;will not allow her to even walk outside its office".

He also hinted at a power struggle within the AAP, suggesting that Kejriwal wants to put them in jail instead of making them Chief Minister.&nbsp;

"When Arvind Kejriwal gave their names to the Enforcement Directorate (ED), they felt that they are the next in line because Kejriwal has given them away."

"This is because Arvind Kejriwal does not want to make them Chief Minister. He wants to put them in jail. So they are scared," he said.

Other BJP leaders, including Harish Khurana and RP Singh, supported Sirsa's stance, accusing Atishi of creating a sensation and diverting attention from real issues. They claimed there is an internal tussle within the AAP for the Chief Minister's post.&nbsp;

"This is their internal tussle, which is coming out again and again in different manners. The truth is that action will be taken against all whose names are involved in the matter…It is clear that the fight for the CM post has begun in AAP. Saurabh Bharadwaj and Atishi are on one side and Sunita Kejriwal and Arvind Kejriwal are on the other side," said Singh.

Dismissing suggestions that it was a setback, Modi, as per media reports, asked, "Tell me what I did to cause a setback?"

"Those who are happy about it today will regret tomorrow. I ask these experts—how many elections were held before 2014? There must have been expenses in those elections, right? Can any organisation tell where that money came from?"

"Today Modi has created election documents; that’s why you can search about it. You can find out who gave the money and who received it. Otherwise, no one knows where the money came from. Elections happened before too … Today, you know these details through election documents."

"Every issue may have some flaws. But if these flaws are fixed, it can be corrected," he added.

The Indian Prime Minister also denied allegations of misuse of central agencies against opposition parties.

During the interview, he said that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and other agencies operate independently.&nbsp;

"Currently, ED has around 7,000 cases, of which less than 3 per cent involve politicians. Out of these 7,000 cases, only 3 per cent are politically related."&nbsp;

At a time when Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal languishes in jail after raids by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), the agency has now launched a money laundering investigation against the daughter of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Veena, her IT company, and several others.

Media reports said that the probe is in connection to the alleged illegal payments of Rs 1.72 crore ($203k) from a private mineral firm - Cochin Minerals And Rutile Ltd (CMRL) - to Veena Vijayan's company, Exalogic Solutions.

The alleged payments were reportedly made between 2018 and 2019 even as no services were rendered by the IT company to the private firm.&nbsp;ED reportedly registered a case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) and will now issue summons to individuals linked with the case.

This action comes after the agency took note of the investigation by the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO), a wing of the Union corporate affairs ministry.
