A Delhi court has admitted the complaint filed by CRPF sub-inspector against the producers of Bollywood&nbsp;movie "Newton".

The complaint was filed by the sub-inspector for "depicting CRPF in poor light".

The court has posted the case for July 19 for pre-summoning evidence of the complaint.

Newton was India's official entry to the Oscars. And Rajkummar Rao won the Asia Pacific Screen Award -- given out by the Brisbane city council -- for his performance in the film.&nbsp;

The movie is a political satire weaved around an honest election officer's attempt to conduct a free and fair poll in a conflict-hit area of Chhattisgarh.

Delhi court posts 'Newton" for pre-summoning evidence of complainant on July 19

Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav today was granted bail after getting sentenced to six months in prison by a Delhi court. Yadav is accused in a cheque bounce case.

On December 3, 2017, the actor was sent to Tihar Jail for submitting a false affidavit in the case.

According to reports, seven cases were lodged against the actor. Yadav is liable to pay a sum of Rs 1.60 crore as fine per case. Yadav told media that he respects the court's order and will appeal to reduce the punishment.&nbsp;

"I respect the court's judgement and will appeal in this matter to reduce the punishment," he said.&nbsp;

Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav sentenced to jail, gets bail later

A Delhi court Saturday decided to hear on May 11 the CBI’s plea seeking a direction to allow it to go for further probe into the politically sensitive Rs 64-crore Bofors payoff case.

The matter came up before Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Anuj Agarwal, who posted it for hearing on May 11 after noting that the original records file pertaining to the case was with the Supreme Court.

“File has not come yet. Put up for consideration on May 11,” the ACMM said.

The court had on February 17 deferred the matter for Saturday due to non-availability of documents which have been provided to the apex court as it is seized of an appeal by BJP leader Ajay Agrawal challenging the May 31, 2005 verdict of the Delhi High Court quashing all charges against the accused.

Agrawal, who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha election from Rae Bareli against the then Congress president Sonia Gandhi, had filed the appeal in the apex court after the CBI had failed to challenge the high court verdict in the top court within the mandatory 90 days period.

The CBI had on February 1 moved the trial court seeking permission for further probe the matter saying it had come across fresh material and evidence.

A day after the agency had also filed an appeal against the high court decision in the Supreme Court.

After the CBI, the BJP leader had also moved the trial court supporting the plea of the probe agency in the case.

During the hearing, advocate Ajay Agarwal on Saturday told the court that the Supreme Court is likely to constitute a new bench to hear the matter soon as Justice AM Khanwilkar has recused himself from the case.

The court will also consider, on the next date of hearing, his plea asking it to grant permission to the CBI to re-investigate the case.

The agency had swung into action to approach the trial court and the apex court after the attorney general orally gave it a go ahead to file the appeal in the case in which it cited the October 2017 interview of private detective Michael Hershman, who alleged that the then Rajiv Gandhi-led Congress government had sabotaged his probe.

Justice R S Sodhi (since retired) of the Delhi High Court had on May 31, 2005 quashed the CBI case in the Bofors pay-off scam.

Before the 2005 verdict of Justice Sodhi, another judge of the Delhi High Court, Justice J D Kapoor (since retired) had on February 4, 2004 exonerated the late prime minister in the case and directed the framing of charge of forgery under section 465 of the IPC against Bofors company.

The Rs 1,437-crore deal between India and Swedish arms manufacturer AB Bofors for the supply of 400 155mm howitzer guns for the Indian Army was entered into on March 24, 1986.

Swedish Radio on April 16, 1987, had claimed that the company had paid bribes to top Indian politicians and defence personnel.

The CBI on January 22, 1990 had registered the FIR for alleged offences of criminal conspiracy, cheating and forgery under the IPC and other sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act against Martin Ardbo, the then president of AB Bofors, alleged middleman Win Chadda and the Hinduja brothers.

It had alleged that certain public servants and private persons in India and abroad had entered into a criminal conspiracy between 1982 and 1987 in pursuance of which the offences of bribery, corruption, cheating and forgery were committed

The first charge sheet in the case was filed on October 22, 1999, against Chadda, Ottavio Quattrocchi, the then defence secretary S K Bhatnagar, Ardbo and the Bofors company.

A supplementary charge sheet was filed against the Hinduja brothers — S P Hinduja, G P Hinduja and P P Hinduja — on October 9, 2000.

A special CBI court in Delhi on March 4, 2011, had discharged Quattrocchi from the case, saying the country could not afford to spend hard-earned money on his extradition which had already cost Rs 250 crore.

Quattrocchi, who had fled from India on July 29-30, 1993, never appeared before any court in India to face prosecution.

He passed away on July 13, 2013. The other accused who died are Bhatnagar, Ardbo and Chadda.

Delhi court to hear CBI's plea for further probe in Bofors case on May 11

Two teachers and one tutor, who were arrested for their alleged role in leaking the question paper of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) examinations have been sent to a two-day police remand by Delhi Court.&nbsp;

Touqeer, a tuition teacher, and two teachers of a private school - Rishabh and Rohit - were arrested on 1 April.&nbsp;

According to reports, the teachers clicked photos of the examination paper at 9:15 am and passed it on to the coaching centre owner who then shared it with the students.

It is learned that the paper was leaked in the handwritten form further probe and investigation continue.&nbsp;

More than 60 people have been questioned till now, out of which 10 are tutors of coaching centres. Also, more than 50 cell phones of students and tutors have been seized.

The Central Board of Secondary Education(CBSE) today said it will <a href="http://cmsuat.wionews.com/preview/article/128041">not conduct </a><a href="http://cmsuat.wionews.com/preview/article/128041">re-examination</a><a href="http://cmsuat.wionews.com/preview/article/128041"> </a>of class X Maths paper. The CBSE class 12 economics paper would be held on April 25, the HRD ministry had declared last week.

Meanwhile, the Delhi High Court, on Monday, heard a <a href="http://www.wionews.com/india-news/cbse-papers-leak-delhi-high-court-hears-pil-for-court-monitored-probe-127803">Public Interest Litigation </a>for a court-monitored probe into the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) paper leak case.

The Delhi Patiala House Court has again issued a production warrant against Abu Salem in the 2002 businessman extortion case.

Gangster Abu Salem is undergoing&nbsp;trial for allegedly demanding an amount of Rs 5 crore as protection money from Delhi businessman Ashok Gupta in 2002.&nbsp;

On January 15, he had claimed that there was not much evidence available against him in the case.&nbsp;

He also said that he was being tried in the case in violation of the order by which he was brought from Portugal to India in 2005.&nbsp;

Salem has already been given a bail in the case. However, he remains in the jail after being convicted in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case.&nbsp;

A TADA court had sentenced Abu Salem to life imprisonment in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case in September 2017.

Cannot divulge much about investigation but we need his further custody to confront him with the new facts,&quot; Mehta told the court and also opposed Karti&#39;s bail plea saying that the investigation was at &quot;crucial stage&quot; and the CBI needs two weeks time to file detail reply to his bail application.

The ASG alleged that witnesses in the case are being approached and evidences destroyed.

Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, appearing for Karti, said the CBI just want to keep him in custody by hook or crook.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Deepak Shehrawat passed the order after noting that Mallya failed to appear before it despite repeated summons.

&quot;In view that Vijay Mallya failed to appear before this court within 30 days, and no representation was made on his behalf, he is declared as proclaimed offender,&quot; the court said.

The court had on April 12 last year issued an open-ended non-bailable warrant against the liquor baron.

Unlike a non-bailable warrant, &#39;open-ended NBW&#39; does not carry a time limit for execution.

On November 4, 2016, while issuing a non-bailable warrant against Mallya, the court had observed he had no inclination to return and had scant regard for the law of the land.

It had said that coercive process has to be initiated against Mallya as he was facing proceedings in several cases and avoiding an appearance in those matters.

The court had also held that Mallya&#39;s plea that he wanted to return to India but was &quot;incapacitated&quot; to travel as his passport had been revoked by Indian authorities, was &quot;malafide&quot; and &quot;abuse of the process of law&quot;.

Mallya, who is reportedly in London, had submitted before the court on September 9 that was &quot;incapacitated&quot; to travel despite &quot;best intentions&quot; as his passport had been revoked.
