Held in Mumbai on Tuesday night and organized by Film Critics Guild of India, the award ceremony had noted lyricist and writer Javed Akhtar interacting with critics in a fireside chat. In this year’s edition of the Critics’ Choice Awards 2025, a new category was introduced- Best Documentary- which honored exceptional feature length documentary films from the past year. The award was given to the film Nocturnes. In the Feature Films segment, All We Imagine As Light won Best Feature Film, recognised for its compelling narrative and artistic excellence, while Payal Kapadia won Best Director. Diljit Dosanjh earned Best Actor for his remarkable performance in Amar Singh Chamkila. Accepting the award, Diljit Dosanjh expressed his heartfelt gratitude, stating, “Thank you to the Film Critics Guild for this award, bohot bohot shukriya for considering me worthy of this honour. I dedicate this award to Amar Singh Chamkila and to Imtiaz sir, who brought this beautiful film to life. I just had the chance to be a part of it—it was entirely Imtiaz sir’s hard work. Ravi Kishan’s standout performance in Laapataa Ladies earned him Best Supporting Actor, and Kani Kusruti was awarded Best Supporting Actress for her impactful role in Girls Will Be Girls. In the Web Series category, Poacher emerged as a major winner, securing Best Web Series. Nimisha Sajayan received Best Actress for her role in Poacher, while Barun Sobti won Best Actor for his performance in Raat Jawaan Hai. Brosnahan discussed the preparation she undertook for the role, saying, &ldquo;I felt like I was focused on the journalism piece."
&ldquo;I spoke to a handful of journalists who really helped me get inside the head of a modern reporter.&rdquo;
She continued, &ldquo;One of the interesting things about this character is that she&rsquo;s changed so much from her inception to reflect what it would look like to be a modern, relentless, kind of intense, slightly messy reporter of today. So I really relied on the journalists I spoke to in order to help me build her.&rdquo;

Brosnahan also shared her experience on set. "James and Peter Safran on the DC side&mdash;James has been dreaming of making a Superman movie for so many years. And to be a part of someone realising their dream like that just brings a totally different energy to the set every day.&rdquo;

Kapadia has made history as she bagged the nominations in the lead category. She became the first Indian woman&nbsp;to get&nbsp;a nomination in the Best Director category.&nbsp;

Starring Kani Kusruti, Divya Prabha, and Chhaya Kadam, the film has been dominating the headlines since it won the prestigious Grand Prix at the 77th Cannes International Film Festival.&nbsp;The movie has recently won&nbsp;Best International Film&nbsp;at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards, and Best International Feature trophy at the&nbsp;Gotham Awards 2024.

The Critics Choice Awards will be held on January 12 in the US. It will stream live on Lionsgate Play in India on the morning of January 13.

Critics Choice 2025: Payal Kapadia's All We Imagine as Light gets nominated

Indian filmmaker Raj &amp; DK's latest thriller series Citadel: Honey Bunny has landed a nomination at the Critics Choice Awards. In the 30th edition of the awards, Shōgun took the lead in the nominations earning six nominations, including Best Drama Series, Best Actor in a Drama Series for producer/star Hiroyuki Sanada, and Best Actress in a Drama Series for Anna Sawai.&nbsp; 
 
Meanwhile, Citadel: Honey Bunny featuring Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the lead earned a nomination in the Best International Series category. The show will be competing against Pachinko, Acapulco, La Maquina, The Law According to Lidia Poët, My Brilliant Friend, Senna, and Squid Game. The nomination is a significant milestone for the show which was released in November this year on Prime Video. 
 
The Russo Brothers, who served as executive producers on the project, extended their congratulations to the team.

Indian filmmaker Raj & DK's latest thriller series Citadel: Honey Bunny has landed a nomination at the Critics Choice Awards. In the 30th edition of the awards, Shōgun took the lead in the nominations earning six nominations, including Best Drama Series, Best Actor in a Drama Series for producer/star Hiroyuki Sanada, and Best Actress in a Drama Series for Anna Sawai.

Indian filmmaker Raj & DK's latest thriller series Citadel: Honey Bunny has landed a nomination at the Critics Choice Awards. In the 30th edition of the awards, Shōgun took the lead in the nominations earning six nominations, including Best Drama Series, Best Actor in a Drama Series for producer/star Hiroyuki Sanada, and Best Actress in a Drama Series for Anna Sawai. Meanwhile, Citadel: Honey Bunny featuring Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the lead earned a nomination in the Best International Series category. The show will be competing against Pachinko, Acapulco, La Maquina, The Law According to Lidia Poët, My Brilliant Friend, Senna, and Squid Game. The nomination is a significant milestone for the show which was released in November this year on Prime Video.
