<p>The protesters, two females, belonged to a group called 'Stop Fossil Fuel Subsidies Australia' and targetted Warhol's famous "Campbell's Soup I" on display at the gallery.&nbsp;</p>

<p>They used an adhesive to stick themselves to the painting and burst into a monologue about the symbolism of their act.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>“Andy Warhol depicted consumerism gone mad in this iconic series,” said one of the protesters before adding, “And now we have capitalism gone mad. Families are having to choose between medicine and food for their children while fossil fuel companies return record profits.”</p>

<p>Two woke anti-oil activists on Friday created a ruckus at the National Gallery in London by throwing tomato soup at Vincent Van Gogh’s painting ‘Sunflowers'.</p>

<p>The said perpetrators have been linked to a group named 'Just Stop Oil'. They threw soup on the $84.2 million painting to protest fossil fuel extraction. The two activists have been identified as Phoebe Plummer, 21, from London and Anna Holland, 20, from Newcastle.</p>

<p>After splashing the soup, the duo glued themselves to the wall, much to the abject surprise of the crowd gathered in room 43 of the gallery.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“What is worth more, art or life?” Plummer could be heard shouting after the incident while Holland added, “Is it worth more than food? More than justice? Are you more concerned about the protection of a painting or the protection of our planet and people?"</p>

<p>Informing about the incident, National Gallery in a statement said, "At just after 11 am this morning two people entered Room 43 of the National Gallery. The pair appeared to glue themselves to the wall adjacent to Van Gogh's Sunflowers (1888). They also threw a red substance - what appears to be tomato soup - over the painting."</p>

<p>"The room was cleared of visitors and police were called. Officers are now on the scene. There is some minor damage to the frame but the painting is unharmed," it read further.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Metropolitan Police said the offenders have been arrested for criminal damage and aggravated trespass.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The stunt was pulled off by the "Just Stop Oil" group on Thursday to urge “art institutions to join them in civil resistance”. It came a day after other members from the group did the same thing to a Horatio McCulloch artwork in Glasgow.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The “Just Stop Oil” group tweeted a picture of the duo— McKechnie, 21, and Brocklebank, 24— whose hands can be seen glued to the Dutch master's "Peach Trees in Blossom". The group has been seeking to halt all new UK fossil fuel projects.</p>

<p>The group also shared a clip on Twitter showing London police climbing the Courtauld’s stairs, presumably to apprehend the demonstrators.</p>

<p>Mixing investment with philanthropy, the global returns project aims to use a small percentage of people’s savings to help groups fighting climate change.</p>

<p>But, the question is, would you commit 0.25 per cent of your savings to save the planet for future generations?</p>

<p>Judd and Swiderski plan to partner with banks and other financial-services providers to show them the importance of offering clients an easy way to direct more of their savings and investments to help the environment.</p>

<p>“Funding not-for-profit climate solutions yields returns just like any other investment,” said Swiderski, who founded the investment firm Finisterre capital before deciding in 2014 to run an organic farm. “The returns are externalised and shared, but they are real, identifiable and global.”</p>

<p>The activists, who call themselves&nbsp;Extinction Rebellion (XR),&nbsp;started a 10-days long protest in front of the two printing press located&nbsp;north of London and near Liverpool.</p>

<p>The affected newspaper were&nbsp;The Times, the Daily Telegraph and The Sun.</p>

<p>The XR group blocked the streets leading to the printing ress with several vehicles&nbsp;"to expose the failure of these corporations to accurately report on the climate and ecological emergency".</p>

<p>In addition to blocking the roads with vehicles, the protestors also attached themselves to various other barricades, making it impossible for anyone to pass through.</p>

<p>The aim of the protest is to disrupt the services of all newspapers that are a part of the&nbsp;News Corp., controlled by Rupert Murdoch's family, as well as right-wing titles The Daily Mail and The London Evening Standard, as they feel these organisations manipulate the truth.</p>

<p>"The groups are using disruption and their consistent manipulation of the truth to suit their own personal and political agendas," the group said in a statement.</p>

<p>However, the Newsprinters, who run the plant, said quickly shifted the printing of the newspapers to another location and apologised to the customers for the late deliveries.</p>

<p>The UK's Prime Minister Boris Johnson's fiance Carrie Symonds, too, took to Twitter to oppose the protest, saying, "I care about climate change and biodiversity a massive amount but preventing a free press to spread this message further is just wrong. Not to mention all those small businesses that rely on being able to sell newspapers."</p>

<p>The protesting group apologised to the newsagents, but refused to apologise to the owners. "Dear Newsagents, we are sorry for disruption caused to your business this morning. Dear Mr. Murdoch, we are absolutely not sorry for continuing to disrupt your agenda this morning," the group, which was formed in 2018, tweeted.</p>

"The groups are using disruption and their consistent manipulation of the truth to suit their own personal and political agendas," the group said in a statement. However, the Newsprinters, who run the plant, said quickly shifted the printing of the newspapers to another location and apologised to the customers for the late deliveries. <p>As per documents accessed by The Guardian, the environment activists engaged in non-violent civil disobedience targeting the oil industry, are described as "extremists". Some of the people from the group are also described alongside "mass killers" and "white nationalists".&nbsp;</p>

<p>The group have been dubbed the Valve Turners, after they closed the valves on pipelines in four states carrying crude oil from Canada’s tar sands in 2016. The pipelines account for nearly 15 % of US daily consumption. It was considered as the largest coordinated action of its kind and for a few hours oil stopped flowing.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The five activists informed the energy companies whose pipelines were being disrupted and posted videos of their activities on the internet. They waited patiently to get arrested.</p>

<p>The DHS in an evaluation of domestic terrorism threats between 2018 and 2020, described the group as “suspected environmental rights extremists”.&nbsp;</p>
