Chinese national Luo Sang, who was operating under the fake name of Charlie Peng, was arrested on Tuesday during a raid in Delhi by the Income Tax Department.

Through these bank accounts transactions worth more than Rs 300 crores for Chinese Companies has been tracked down. Hawala Transactions leading to Hong Kong have also been tracked down.

The money laundering racket, meanwhile, was busted on Tuesday when the IT Department conducted raids at around two dozen premises of some Chinese nationals, as well as their associates, in Delhi, Gurugram and Ghaziabad.

Luo Sang is alleged to be the ‘kigpin’ of the racket. He married a woman from the northeast and cooked up the identity of ‘Charlie Peng’ using a fake Indian passport.

Earlier, he was also arrested in September 2018 by the Special Cell of the Delhi on charges if ‘espionage’. 
 
The episode comes amid the ongoing tensions between India and China in eastern Ladakh.

China on Monday took control of the US consulate building after ordering the US staff to vacate in retaliation for China's ouster from the Houston consulate in Texas as tensions rose to a new level between the two powerful economies. The US lowered its flag at 6:18 am on Monday as police barracked the area and stepped up security.

In a video message, the US embassy said: "The US consulate in Chengdu has been proudly promoting the mutual understanding between Americans and the people in Sichuan, Chongqing, Guizhou, Yunnan and Tibet since 1985. We will forever miss you."

Wenbin asserted that the US had taken "unilateral" and "provocative actions" by suddenly asking the Chinese side to close the consulate in Houston.&nbsp;

However, the Chinese foreign ministry said that it did not wish to see the "current situation of relations between China and the US" while adding that the "US bears the entire responsibility".

Wenbin urged the United States to "immediately correct its mistakes and create necessary conditions for the bilateral relations".

Jun Wei Yeo has filed a plea in a US court to one charge of operating illegally as a foreign agent.

Singaporean pleads guilty in US court to working for Chinese intelligence

Australian police will open a formal investigation into explosive claims by a <a href="https://www.wionews.com/world/china-wants-to-take-over-australian-politics-ex-spy-chief-263762">self-styled Chinese spy</a> who defected Down Under with an apparent trove of sensitive intelligence, an official told AFP Tuesday.

The Australian Federal Police will probe Wang Liqiang's claims,&nbsp;including allegations that China tried to recruit a Melbourne businessman and get him elected to parliament.

The official, speaking on condition of anonymity, declined to comment further but confirmed a statement about the investigation is expected later on Tuesday.

The target, Bo "Nick" Zhao, a 32-year-old luxury car dealer who was a member of the ruling Liberal Party,&nbsp;apparently rebuffed the offer and was found dead in a motel room in March.

Wang has told Australian media he knows the identities of China's senior military intelligence officers in Hong Kong and took part in covert influence operations there, as well as in Taiwan and Australia.
