Indian politician Nara Chandrababu Naidu, who is the president of Telugu Desam Party (TDP), met Home Minister Amit Shah and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president JP Nadda late Wednesday night.&nbsp;

After the meeting, speculations are rife that the political parties may join hands in Andhra Pradesh for the upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly polls to&nbsp;be held simultaneously in the South Indian state.&nbsp;

The news agency PTI reported that Naidu met Shah at the home minister's residence, with sources saying that Nadda was also present in the meeting. BJP reportedly believes that an alliance with Naidu will help the NDA do well in the state.&nbsp;

Citing sources, the news agency said that Naidu is keen on joining forces with the BJP party. If this happens, then it will be a major boost for the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance in Andhra Pradesh and the upcoming general elections.

This comes after Janata Dal (United) president and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar joined NDA last month, snapping ties with the opposition.&nbsp;

<h2>Lok Sabha Polls 2024</h2>

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had recently asserted in Parliament that his party will get 370 seats and the NDA will cross 400 in the polls to the 543-member House.&nbsp;

While talking about TDP, a senior BJP leader said his party is open to an alliance but it will all depend on how many seats the TDP, the main opposition party in the state, agrees to give it, especially for the Lok Sabha polls.

Both had fought the 2014 Lok Sabha polls together when Telangana was yet to be formally separated from Andhra Pradesh. The BJP had then fought three seats and won all of them out of the 42 seats in the united state.&nbsp;

Following Telangana's creation, Andhra Pradesh has 25 seats and the BJP is keen to contest on anywhere between six to eight seats, sources said.

The TDP had walked out of the NDA in 2018 but suffered majorly in the 2019 polls when it managed to win only three Lok Sabha seats and lost power in the state to the YSR Congress.&nbsp;

<h2>Rumours of RLD joining NDA&nbsp;</h2>

There are also speculations that Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) chief Jayant Chaudhary is joining hands with the BJP. However, there is no confirmation on it yet.

The&nbsp;Samajwadi Party (SP) an alliance partner of the&nbsp;RLD does not seem happy with the rumours.

The RLD and the SP announced their alliance for the Lok Sabha polls on January 19 with the former stating that the latter will leave seven seats in western Uttar Pradesh for its nominees.&nbsp;

Both the parties had contested the 2022 assembly elections in&nbsp;alliance as well in which the SP had won 111 seats while the RLD bagged eight seats. In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, the RLD was part of the SP-BSP alliance.&nbsp;

Vijayawada Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) court Judge Himabindu read out the judgement on former CM Chandrababu's case.

The judge ordered the remand of Naidu for 14 days to judicial custody and suggested taking the former CM to Rajahmundry Central Jail. Earlier on Sunday morning, Naidu was produced before the (ACB) court in Vijayawada.

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) also released a statement calling for a state-wide Bandh&nbsp;on Monday (September 11) and will stage demonstrations against the arrest of Naidu.

In a notice, the CID said that Naidu was arrested under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. Stating that the offence was non-bailable, the CID said that Naidu could be released on bail, and he might have to seek bail through a court.&nbsp;

The officials have claimed that the alleged fraud has caused a huge loss in excess of Rs 300 crore&nbsp;to the state government.

On Wednesday, Naidu had claimed that he could be attacked or arrested soon. "Today or tomorrow they could arrest me. They may even attack me. Not one, they will do many atrocities," Naidu said during a public event in &nbsp;Anantapur district.&nbsp;

India: Former Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu arrested in corruption case

After much drama, former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu was taken into custody early on Saturday in Nandyala in connection with the suspected 3,300 crore Andhra Pradesh Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) scandal that occurred under the previous Telugu Desam Party (TDP) administration.

TDP leader N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday hit out at Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on a range of issues and stressed that although his party (TDP) faced some troubles, it never lost the cadre base.

"This party was floated by the great NT Rama Rao. Though the party may face some debacles, it never lost cadre base," he said while addressing party workers in Vijayawada.

The former Chief Minister said Andhra Pradesh was bifurcated in 2014 and was in much trouble then.

"I worked hard for the state. I ignored the personal family and party family. But now I am left with party and family only. I am pained that the people could not understand my efforts and defeated our party," he said.

"Sand scarcity became a big menace for the state. During our regime, we gave sand at free of cost. They alleged that we maintained sand mafia. But what is the situation now," he asked.

Naidu questioned if the incumbent Chief Minister has come out to resolve the problem. "Somebody said that Jagan is playing video games at house," he said.

The former Chief Minister accused YSRCP leaders of black marketing sand and alleged that now the cost of sand in the state is much higher than cement.

"Five persons committed suicide due to sand shortage and lack of works. Jagan is responsible for their deaths," he said.

Naidu also accused the government of troubling TDP leaders and cadres with cases and stressed that they are not afraid of it.

"In Assembly, YSRCP abused me. They found fault with our fight on mosquitoes. Now Dengue and other mosquito-related diseases prevalent all over the state," he said.

"On the name of savings, the Jagan government is not spending even a single penny. They are colouring buildings constructed by us, with their party colours. I tell them to paint their faces, not buildings," the former Chief Minister said.

Naidu claimed that he developed Hyderabad for fame, prestige, and development of Telugu community.

"Jagan tried to dig out the corruption of our regime but could dig nothing," he said.

On-farm loans, the former Chief Minister said, "TDP is the only government that waived loans of farmers to the tune of Rs 1.5 lakhs. We were ready to pay 4th and 5th instalments. But they objected."

"Rytu Bharosa is his scheme. But he did not pay the promised amount.&nbsp; 
He reduced its level; reduced number of beneficiaries. Don't know whether he will pay the 2nd and 3rd instalments," Naidu wondered.

Taking a dig at the Chief Minister, Naidu said when people were suffering from floods, Jagan was on a tour in Jerusalem and the US.

"He filed cases against me for the unfortunate demise of people during Godavari pushkaram (kumbh). Now I question, who sank a boat in Godavari," he said.

He alleged that in the name of village secretariat jobs, they were looting public money for their party cadre.

"Power cuts have increased in the state. Soon power tariffs may also be increased," Naidu claimed.

He also hit out at the government for law and order situation and said, "Kodela Sivaprasad Rao did not commit suicide. It is the murder by the government."

"All the misdeeds of your govt and supporters of them ... We will not leave anything. I am listing out their misdeeds like Chitragupta," warned the former Chief Minister.

The former Chief Minister said YSRCP government lost all its prestige within five months.

"We will come to power soon. I have belief in party cadre," the TDP leader said.

The former Andhra Pradesh chief minister following the house arrest sat on a hunger strike to protest against the said move.

Naidu sat on a fast at around 8am and will continue till 8pm.

His son was also put under preventive detention at their residence, following an altercation with the police.

Meanwhile, party leaders and workers who were on their way to Naidu`s residence were stopped by police and taken into preventive custody.&nbsp;

Further, section 144 was imposed in Narasaraopeta, Sattenapalle, Palnadu and Gurajala.

Andhra Pradesh police have put several TDP leaders under house arrest in view of party`s call for `Chalo Atmakur` rally following political violence allegations made by YSRCP.&nbsp;

Police said that TDP did not receive any permission to take out `Chalo Atmakur` rally.

Meanwhile, TDP has accused the YSR Congress Party of indulging into political violence after coming to power in May.&nbsp;

It has alleged that the cadres of the YSRCP have killed as many as eight of its party workers and have attacked many more.

Heated debate between YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, N Chandrababu Naidu

Telugu Desam Party Chief and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu on Friday dubbed the <a href="https://www.wionews.com/business-economy/budget-2019-here-is-what-favours-you-and-what-does-not-233308">Union Budget</a> as "disappointing" and said that it was not in accordance with the wishes of the people of Andhra Pradesh.

"The budget is not in accordance with the wishes of the people of Andhra Pradesh. The centre made budgetary allocations to the northeastern States but ignored Andhra Pradesh, which is reeling under severe financial crisis. The budget has badly disappointed the people of the state," said Naidu.

The special category status and other issues in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act were also ignored, he said.

"Nothing is mentioned about the revenue deficit, to be covered by the centre. Of the total revenue deficit of Rs 16,000 crores, only Rs 4,000 crores were granted," he observed.

The TDP leader also said that the central government had allocated only Rs 13 crore for tribal university and central university.

"Not even a single paisa is allocated for educational institutes like IIT, NIT, IIM, IIIT," said Naidu.

Even though work on the capital city, Amaravati and Polavaram project came to a grinding halt four months ago, the Centre had not made any allocations for the same, he said.

"Same is the case with Vizag and Vijayawada Metro projects, Kadapa steel plant and Dugarajapatnam port," said the TDP Chief.

Naidu, however, lauded the central government for proposing the Zero Budget Natural Farming (ZBNF) method."Giving priority to ZBNF is welcome.

During the past five years, we have given utmost priority to ZBNF in our state.

We appreciate the encouragement to ZBNF," he said.

The TDP Chief expressed concern over decreased allocation for Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA).

Central budget disappointing, says Chandrababu Naidu

In a major blow to Telugu Desam Party (TDP) its spokesperson Lanka Dinakar on Wednesday quit the party and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the presence of its working president JP Nadda at party headquarters here.

"I am very to happy to join BJP today. I want to walk on the path shown by PM Modi, Amit Shah ji and Nadda ji to fulfil the aspiration of our nation. I will do my level best for the party in the state of Andra Pradesh," Dinakar told ANI.

"I, Lanka Dinakar, herewith submitting my resignation for my position in the party as National Spokesperson and primary membership of the party after a unanimous decision of my family members," the resignation letter stated.

On November 8, 2018, the ruling Telugu Desam Party had issued a government order (GO) withdrawing the "general consent" accorded to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to carry out investigations and raids in the state.

"In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 6 of the Delhi Special Police Establishment Act, 1946, the government hereby withdraws the general consent accorded (in GO Ms 109) to all the members of the Delhi Special Police Establishment to exercise the powers and jurisdiction under the said&nbsp; 
Act in the state of Andhra Pradesh," the GO had said.

The then Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister (Home) N China Rajappa had said the reason to withdraw the consent was allegations against the top officials of the country's premier investigation agency.

The Andhra Pradesh government bestowed powers upon itself to launch a corruption probe against central government employees as well through the state's Anti-Corruption Bureau.

The YSR Congress Party that assumed power on May 30, issued a fresh order Thursday cancelling the GO 176 issued on November 8.

Based on the directions of Jagan Mohan Reddy, Special Chief Secretary Manmohan Singh issued GO 81 to this effect.

"The order issued on November 8, 2018 is hereby cancelled under the provisions of the Delhi Special Police Establishment Act, 1946," it said.

The YS Jagan Mohan Reddy government Thursday cancelled a controversial government order issued by the previous Chandrababu Naidu-led dispensation, paving the way for the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to probe various cases in Andhra Pradesh. On November 8, 2018, the ruling Telugu Desam Party had issued a government order (GO) withdrawing the "general consent" accorded to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to carry out investigations and raids in the state. "In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 6 of the Delhi Special Police Establishment Act, 1946, the government hereby withdraws the general consent accorded (in GO Ms 109) to all the members of the Delhi Special Police Establishment to exercise the powers and jurisdiction under the said Act in the state of Andhra Pradesh," the GO had said. The then Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister (Home) N China Rajappa had said the reason to withdraw the consent was allegations against the top officials of the country's premier investigation agency. The Andhra Pradesh government bestowed powers upon itself to launch a corruption probe against central government employees as well through the state's Anti-Corruption Bureau. The YSR Congress Party that assumed power on May 30, issued a fresh order Thursday cancelling the GO 176 issued on November 8. Based on the directions of Jagan Mohan Reddy, Special Chief Secretary Manmohan Singh issued GO 81 to this effect. "The order issued on November 8, 2018 is hereby cancelled under the provisions of the Delhi Special Police Establishment Act, 1946," it said. The CBI will now have all powers to take up corruption and other cases in AP. The premier investigative agency functions under the Delhi Special Police Establishment Act. Under Section 6 of the Act, a state government "routinely" grants consent to the CBI for exercising its authority in the state and the AP government, too, had issued relevant orders periodically. Ever since he snapped ties with the Narendra Modi-led NDA government in March last year, Naidu had been alleging that the Centre was misusing agencies like the CBI to target political opponents. The raids by Income Tax authorities on some business establishments, run by those close to the ruling Telugu Desam Party in the state, had left Naidu red-faced. Subsequently, he announced that his government would not provide police cover to the IT officials for conducting the raids. The state government's move was seen as further intensification of confrontation between the Modi government and Naidu, who was striving to forge a non-BJP front to take on the saffron party in 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Opposition parties decried the move and asserted the state government did not have the authority to bar the CBI. The YSR Congress, the main opposition party then, had alleged the controversial decision was taken only because the chief minister was scared of the CBI.

Jaganmohan Reddy's YSRCP has won 151 Assembly seats out of the total 175 seats of Andhra Pradesh&nbsp;and 22 of its Lok Sabha seats. Sources said that Reddy is likely to take oath as CM on May 30.

"Ravali Jagan...Kavaali Jagan," ( Jagan should come...we want Jagan ) was the famous slogan coined by his supporters in Yuvajana Shramika Rythu Congress Party ( YSRCP ) in Andhra Pradesh in the run-up to 2019 General Elections.&nbsp;

Andhra Pradesh went to polls for 25 Lok Sabha seats and 175 Assembly constituencies on April 11.&nbsp;

One of Jagan supporter K Lokesh Reddy came as far from Melbourne in Australia and met him along with 17 of his friends from Australia stayed in Andhra Pradesh for three months from starting January 10 this year.&nbsp;

"Jagan Anna ( as he is popularly called by his supporters ) made a sincere effort through his Padayatra to convince people that they can completely trust him and he will genuinely solve their issues,'' informs Lokesh Reddy, who is busy in party's celebrations in Vijayawada.&nbsp;

"People were fed up with Naidu and his false promises and saw through his lies especially on the Special Category Status issue. We ( YSRCP ) released our manifesto with just two pages wherein we have promised what we can deliver and the people were convinced," said Lokesh.

Though YSRCP won with huge numbers both in Assembly and Parliament, Jagan's road ahead as Chief Minister will not be smooth according to political analysts.&nbsp;

"The Andhra Pradesh economy is in shambles and Jagan has to walk on a tight rope on many fronts to live up to the voters' expectations,'' said PL Vishweshwara Rao, former Dean, Department of Communication &amp; Journalism, Osmania University.

Of the data available for 173 seats of the total 175, the Telugu Desam Party is leading in 29 seats with Pawan Kumar's Jan Kalyan in two.

TDP supremo and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and YSR Congress chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy are leading over the respective rival candidates.

Naidu initially trailed by 67 votes but bounced back to secure a lead over his nearest YSRC rival.

Naidu is also in touch with Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee over the phone on this issue, the sources added.

On Friday, Naidu had said that not only the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) but any outfit which is against the saffron party are welcome to join a grand alliance after the election results are declared.

He had also met AAP convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal as well as CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury on the matter.

The seven-phase polling will end on Sunday and the counting of votes will be done on May 23.

"I do not want re-polling. I want the EC to be transparent. The way the EC is working, I am questioning that as a senior politician of the country. I have never seen such an attitude of the EC in the last 25 years of my political career," he said.

Naidu had also written a letter to the poll body, saying, "The EC has already conducted re-polling in five other polling stations in three districts of Andhra Pradesh on May 6, based on certain complaints. If there were any issues in the polling stations in Chandragiri assembly constituency, why didn't the Commission enquire into the same and conduct the re-polling on May 6?"

He even criticised the EC for taking cognisance of the complaints filed by the YSRCP and ordering re-polling. "We have seen polling being conducted in different phases, but have never come across re-polling also being held in phases," he said.

Hours after his meeting with Arora, Naidu visited Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal at the latter's residence. Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was also present in the meeting.

Thirty-four days after voting was held in the constituency, the EC ordered repoll based on a report by the Andhra Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer, and without waiting for the recommendations of a panel set up for this purpose, Naidu alleged.

On the contrary, the poll panel on May 15 relieved West Bengal Home Secretary Atri Bhattacharya for having interfered in the elections process by directing the state's CEO, he said.

In a representation to the EC about the repolling ordered in his state, the incumbent Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister said, "...It is an injustice. (It is) unfortunate, unethical and unconstitutional."&nbsp;

Naidu demanded the EC play a "neutral role" to facilitate free and fair election without being "partisan at the instance of any particular party".

"Hence, the Chief Election Commissioner and other Election Commissions are requested to take steps to restore the confidence of the people in the EC and to create a level playing field between the BJP-allies and other parties in the country," he added.

Chandragiri, located in Chittoor district, is one of the 175 assembly constituencies in the state. There are total of 25 parliamentary constituencies.

Both assembly and Lok Sabha elections were held together in Andhra Pradesh on April 11. The votes will be counted on May 23.
