<p>A short video series has reportedly gone viral on Chinese version of TikTok. The series, titled 'Escape from The British Museum' shows journey of a Chinese artefact back to China. This has added to general clamour about demands from various countries that British Museum should return cultural relics taken forcibly during the times of the British Empire.</p>

<p>The video series shows a jade teapot from the British Museum assuming a human form. It then tries to escape the museum and return to China with the help of a Chinese journalist it meets on the streets of London.</p>

<p>The teapot is a real artefact stored in the British Museum. It is however, not exactly a cultural relic. It was made in 2011 by a Chinese artist who is an expert in intricate jade carvings.</p>

<p>Although it is not a cultual relic going back centuries, the delicate technique to make the carvings is an artform unique to China.</p>

'Escape from British Museum': Chinese TikTok video on artefact return becomes a hit

<p>Labour MP&nbsp;Bell Ribeiro-Addy has slammed the British Musem for refusing to return the stolen goods and artefacts to the country of their origin due to security reasons.&nbsp;Ribeiro-Addy said the recent thefts at the museum exposed the&nbsp;"insulting ridiculousness" of the institution's stance on the issue.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"One of the most insulting reasons that they’ve given is that the other countries that these items belong to would either not be able to take care of them or they are likely to be stolen. But you’ve got people in this country putting them on eBay,"&nbsp;Ribeiro-Addy was quoted as saying by The Guardian.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Labour MP, who is also the chair of the&nbsp;all-party parliamentary group on Afrikan reparations, said the 1963 law that prohibits the return of objects such as the Parthenon marbles and the Benin bronzes should be changed.</p>

<p>"What makes it more awful is that they’ve been so lax about the suspected theft of other people’s items that they haven’t even bothered to assess what it is that they have....to know exactly what’s been stolen," she added.</p>

<p>Gradel also went on to dismiss claims by Fischer who said that the concerns were raised about a “small number of items”. He accused the museum of treating him like a “village idiot” and welcomed Fischer’s resignation, reported the Guardian.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to Gradel’s estimates, up to 2,000 items could have been stolen, including the entire collection of unregistered gems. “They have been lying there without any registration at all for over 200 years,” he told the Guardian.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As per London's Metropolitan Police, the incident occurred at around 10:00 am (0900 GMT) on the street bordering the southern perimeter of the world-famous site. The police further added the man had been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.</p>

<p>"Police have arrested a man on suspicion of GBH (grievous bodily harm) following an incident," the force said.</p>

<p>"A man was treated for a stab wound to the arm at the scene and taken by London Ambulance Service to hospital."</p>

<p>"His condition is being assessed."</p>

<p>According to the Met, it was "an isolated incident" and there was no remaining risk to the public.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"It is not being treated as terror-related," the force added, noting the immediate area may remain restricted "for much of today".</p>

<p>London Ambulance Service released a statement saying that its medical professionals treated the man at the scene for a wound that he sustained on his arm due to the incident, "before taking him to a major trauma centre as a priority", as per Metro reports.</p>
