Bihar BJP Media in-charge Danish Iqbal on Monday (Oct 7) launched a scathing attack on former deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav's 'upbringing and mentality', alleging that several items like furniture, light fixtures, and air conditioners were found missing from the bungalow after the RJD leader vacated it.

"The base of the bed is missing, the AC and lights have been removed, and the water outlets in the washroom have been taken out. Even the badminton court mat has been taken, and the fountain lights and sofas have been taken. It's clear that when Tejashwi Yadav vacated the house, he took everything with him. This speaks volumes about his mentality," Danish Iqbal said.

"I'm not just accusing him, but it is completely proven. The way Tejaswi Yadav vacated his official residence, shows his upbringing. The way he vacated the house, he has displayed how to loot government's property," he added.

Bihar Deputy CM, Samrat Chaudhary, was supposed to move into this bungalow during Navratri, but there were disputes around it beforehand.

He further said, “Today is the sixth day of Navrati, a day to worship Ma Katyayani who rides a lion and holds a lotus, and she is blessing all of us. The lotus has blossomed for the third straight time in Haryana on this auspicious occasion.”

The PM also thanked CM Nayab Saini and former CM Manohar Lal Khattar.

‘Congress involved in conspiracy to weaken the country’: PM Modi after BJP wins third term in Haryana

BJP Secures Historic Term In Haryana, Congress Alliance Wins Big In J&K

In a major political victory, the National Conference-Congress alliance has secured a dominant position in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections. The alliance emerged as the clear winner, capturing a total of 48 seats, allowing them to form the government. This electoral success marks a significant shift in the region's political landscape, with the alliance's strong performance reaffirming its influence across Jammu and Kashmir. The victory is expected to shape the region's governance and future political dynamics.

Assembly Elections: National Conference-Congress Alliance Win Big In Jammu and Kashmir

Exit polls in Haryana have sparked debate as early projections appear to have miscalculated the election outcome. While initial polls suggested a close contest, the actual results show a surprising shift in voter sentiment. As counting progresses, it remains unclear who will emerge victorious, with both major parties in a tense race for control of the state. The discrepancy between exit polls and real-time results has raised questions about the accuracy of pre-election predictions.

Exit Polls: Did Exit Polls Fail To Predict Haryana Results? Who Will Win?

Jammu and Kashmir will witness a new chapter on October 8 as the counting for the assembly polls will be held and results declared. The assembly elections were held after a gap of 10 years in the Union Territory. It's also the first assembly election after the abrogation of Article 370. And with the highest voting percentage, every political party is anxious about the results.

As the countdown to the counting of votes in Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections enters its final hours, a significant controversy has erupted over the Lieutenant Governor administration's proposal to nominate five members to the Legislative Assembly before a new government is sworn in. These nominated members will have voting rights, including participation in any vote of confidence, raising concerns among political leaders.

For the first time in Jammu and Kashmir’s political history, the nominated Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) will play a crucial role in government formation following a decade-long hiatus. The recent amendment to the J&K People's Representation Act allows for five nominated members—two representing Kashmiri displaced persons (one man and one woman) and one from the Pakistan-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (POJK) community—who will possess full legislative powers akin to elected representatives. National Conference President Farooq Abdullah strongly condemned the move and said that hearts are not won by force but with love.

''God Bless his soul. How does it matter? Let him nominate 100, all 90 should be nominated by him. Will he run the state? You don't win the hearts of people by threatening, You don't win the hearts of people by force. You win the hearts by love by creating that condition. I am sure he has failed, totally failed,'' said Dr Abdullah.

Tariq Hamid Karra, the chief of Jammu and Kashmir Congress, vehemently criticised the BJP, accusing the party of undermining democracy in the region.

''It's a very unfortunate thing that BJP is doing. It's an unconstitutional and undemocratic thing. They are disregarding the people's mandate. This was a nefarious design and it was conceived much before elections. The purpose is to undo the people's verdict. It's a disregard. The Constitution of India says that the President can nominate members of Rajya Sabha but it's different here. Here, the LG can nominate people on his whim and wishes. I fail to understand when the president has not been given any arbitrary powers, how come the LG has them. I would call it pre-poll rigging. The BJP's count will start from six while ours from one,'' said Karra.

The Awami Ittehad Party leader, Engineer Rashid, also called the decision undemocratic and unconstitutional. "I think it's absolutely unwanted, undemocratic and unconstitutional. What is the fun of electing people from voting? If there was an upper house and they were nominated, it was a different thing. If Modi Ji claims, after abrogation it's one nation, one country, one symbol but he is thrusting a unique status for Jammu and Kashmir by nominating 5 MLAs. It doesn't happen in any state and I am sure pressure will build up and it will be revoked,'' he said.

With the majority of exit polls showing the National Conference and Congress coalition getting the majority of seats in the Union Territory, the BJP is also not very far behind. The fight majorly seems between the National Conference and BJP. While the Valley seems to have voted for the regional party, Jammu seems to have chosen BJP yet again.

Meanwhile, Farooq Abdullah has said that taking over the reins of the government will not be easy for any political party as a lot of things have changed in the last 10 years. The PDP has hinted that they are ready to support the Congress-National Conference, which has been welcomed by both Congress and NC.

''It's a heck of a challenge, whichever government will come in power here. The state has gone through terrible tragedies in the last 10 years. To get the state back on rails will not be easy. For that government, it will be a nightmare to bring the state back to normalcy. People are in jail for telling the truth, truth must shine and lies should not be there. We want a government that will keep Jammu and Kashmir united. The BJP only depends on hate. I am very grateful to Mehbooba for saying she will support the formation of the government. She has decided the right thing. For the improvement and peace and prosperity of the state, we all have to work together, and I am glad,'' said Farooq.

All eyes will be on the results, how the situation develops later, and its potential impact on governance in Jammu and Kashmir.

Haryana exit polls: Congress eyes comeback in Haryana after a decade; BJP projected to miss third term

Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj, along with other Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders, was detained by the police in the Indian capital on Saturday (Oct 5) while protesting near Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena's residence. The protest was held to demand the reappointment of bus marshals who had recently lost their jobs.

This was the second time Bharadwaj had been detained in connection with his demand for reinstating bus marshals. More than 10,000 civil defence volunteers, who were serving as marshals on public buses, were removed last year. The civil defence directorate raised concerns, saying that these volunteers are intended for disaster management roles, not for transport-related duties.

Earlier that day, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, along with AAP and BJP MLAs, visited Saxena’s office to present a note on the issue and seek his approval for reinstating the marshals. Later, Atishi criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing them of not pushing the Lieutenant Governor to approve the proposal.

"The BJP demanded a Cabinet proposal to be passed in the meeting. We called an emergency Cabinet meeting and signed the resolution that was passed in Delhi Assembly to regularise the jobs of bus marshals. We have a provided a copy to BJP as well, but they were exposed. First, the BJP was not ready to go to L-G House. Once they did, they did not say anything to L-G about passing of the proposal. Karnataka health minister Dinesh Gundu Rao made a controversial remark about Hindutva ideologue Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, saying that he consumed meat and possibly beef, triggering off the next major political controversy ahead of the assembly election in Maharashtra.

Karnataka minister further said that Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan, was not a fundamentalist but Savarkar was.

Following the remarks, both the Shiv Sena and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) condemned the remarks, calling them an insult to the freedom fighter.

Moreover, the BJP also started protesting and Savarkar's grandson even threatened to file a defamation suit against the Karnataka leader.

"Savarkar, a 'Chitpavan Brahmin', used to eat meat. He was a non-veg eater and he was not against cow slaughter... Some say that he used to eat beef as well. As a Brahmin, he used to eat meat and was openly propagating eating meat," Rao said.

BJP national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi criticised Congress and demanded that the party name any of its top leaders who were handed down double life imprisonment and lodged at the cellular jail in Andaman-Nicobar Islands by the British.

"Insulting Veer Savarkar, who was an inspiration to revolutionaries in the country, is akin to spitting on the moon," BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh said.

"Kanhaiya Kumar, who raises 'Bharat tere tukde honge' slogan, is embraced. Red carpet is rolled out for those who consider Afzal Guru (Parliament attack convict) a hero...What kind of 'mohabbat ki dukan' Rahul Gandhi has opened where the martyrs and freedom fighters are insulted?" he added.

Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Nirupam also condemned the statement and warned the Congress party against repeatedly maligning Savarkar, revered by many in Maharashtra for his role in India’s freedom struggle.

"Once again, the Congress party has made a very low-level comment against Swatantra Veer Savarkar. The statement made by the Karnataka Health Minister is completely condemnable; it is an insult to him," Nirupam said in a video.

"I want to tell the Congress and threaten them that the people of Maharashtra love Savarkar ji very much and if they keep insulting him like this again and again, then the people of Maharashtra will bury the Congress party in the ground, so the Congress party should stop insulting Savarkar," he said.

Meanwhile, the grandson of Veer Savarkar Ranjit Savarkar accused Congress of defaming his grandfather ahead of upcoming elections.

He said that the Congress was attempting to divide Hindu society along caste lines, a strategy reminiscent of British colonial-era policies.

"This is a strategy of Congress to defame Savarkar time and again, particularly when elections are coming. Earlier, Rahul Gandhi was doing it, and now his leaders are making statements... Congress has shown its real face," Ranjit Savarkar said.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has alleged that the Indian National Congress (INC) was linked to the record drug seizure in New Delhi on Wednesday (Oct 2). Over 500 kg of cocaine and 40 kg of hydroponic marijuana, cumulatively worth Rs 5,600 crore ($667 million) was seized by the authorities, indicating involvement of an international drug smuggling syndicate.

"Yesterday in Delhi, drugs worth Rs 5,600 crores were seized. This quantity is important as during the UPA government (2006-2013) only drugs worth Rs 768 crores were seized across India...The BJP government from 2014-2022 has seized drugs worth Rs 22,000 crore," said Sudhanshu.

"The main accused and kingpin in the drug syndicate, Tushar Goyal is the chief of Indian Youth Congress RTI Cell...What relations does the Congress party have with him? Was this money being used in elections by the Congress party?"

In light of the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections, the BJP leader also questioned the powerful Hooda family and whether the money from the alleged drug trade was being used to fight the polls.

"Do some leaders of the Congress have any arrangements with the drug peddlers? Congress especially the Hooda family should reply what is your connection with Tushar Goyal?"

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has distanced itself from MP Kangana Ranaut's statement on farm laws. BJP’s National Spokesperson Jaiveer Shergill on Wednesday labelled Kangana'd remarks as 'baseless and illogical', adding that the Mandi MP's statement is damaging the good work done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Speaking to ANI on actor and BJP MP Mandi Kangana Ranaut's remarks on farmers, Jaiveer Shergill said, "I am grateful to the BJP for distancing themselves from the comments of Kangana Ranaut. But as a Punjabi, I must say that Kangana Ranaut's consistent rant, useless, baseless and illogical statements against the Sikh community, the farmers of Punjab are damaging all the good work, the welfare-oriented, the Vikas-oriented work being done, that has been done by PM Modi for the welfare of Punjab, Punjabi and Punjabiyat."

This remark came even after Kangana Ranaut issued a public apology and expressed "regret" over her statement on Wednesday.

Mandi Lok Sabha MP Kangana Ranaut had suggested that the three farm laws that were repealed following prolonged farmer protests should be brought back. The actor-turned-politician was quoted as saying, "I know this statement could be controversial, but the three farm laws should be brought back. Farmers themselves should demand it."

After the BJP stated that her comments were "not authorised," Kangana retracted her remarks and issued an apology. She added that moving forward, she will ensure her views align with the party's stance rather than representing her personal opinions.

BJP national spokesperson Jaiveer Shergill further said that PM Modi's 'bond with Punjab, the farmer of Punjab and Punjabiyat is unbreakable'.

"Having said that there should not be any doubt that PM Modi's bond with Punjab, the farmer of Punjab and Punjabiyat is an unbreakable, unshakable bond and that bond should not be judged or seen through the lens of irresponsible comments being made by one MP Kangana Ranaut," the BJP national spokesperson added.

Earlier on Tuesday, BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said the remarks are "personal statements" of Ranaut and don't depict BJP's view on farm bills.

"On the social media platforms, BJP MP Kangana Ranaut's statement on the farm bills that were withdrawn by central govt, is going viral. I want to make it clear that this statement is a personal statement of her," Bhatia said.

While speaking at a public rally in Jammu on Wednesday (September 25), Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, made a serious gaffe when he mistakenly called Kashmiri Pandits as "refugees from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK)."

Gandhi, in his speech, said that former prime minister Manmohan Singh had made a promise to PoK refugees, but soon realised his error. He corrected himself by saying “sorry” and changed his statement to the “promise made to Kashmiri Pandits”.

“Those refugees who came from PoK, the promises made to them by Manmohan Singh ji will be fulfilled… Sorry… Kashmiri Pandits…promises made to Kashmiri Pandits will be fulfilled,” Gandhi said at the public gathering.

He then accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of snatching the statehood from Jammu and Kashmir. “Till the lieutenant governor is here, outsiders will continue to get benefits at the expense of the people of J&K,” he said.

He said that downgrading Jammu and Kashmir to Union territory "was grave injustice with the people".

"We thought that the statehood would be restored before elections, and it was the right way, but they went for polls first. If the BJP did not do it for any reason, then the first job under the INDIA government will be to give statehood because this is your right," Gandhi promised in his speech.

While speaking at a public rally in Jammu on Wednesday (September 25), Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, made a serious gaffe when he mistakenly called Kashmiri Pandits as "refugees from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK)." Gandhi, in his speech, said that former prime minister Manmohan Singh had made a promise to PoK refugees, but soon realised his error. “Kangana Ranaut’s remarks on the repealed farm laws are doing the rounds on social media. I want to make it clear that this is Kangana Ranaut’s personal view. Earlier on Monday, Mandi MP Kangana urged farmers to demand that the central government reinstate the three farm laws repealed in 2021 after widespread protests.

She was speaking at a religious fair in Nachan Assembly, part of her constituency.

“I believe the repealed farm laws should be brought back. I understand it may become controversial, but I think these farmer-welfare-oriented laws should return. Farmers should demand these laws themselves. Just as farmers in other regions are benefiting, there should be no obstacles to their development,” she said in her statement.

Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge slammed BJP after Kangana's remarks, which came just ahead of the October 5 Haryana Assembly elections.

Kharge said that Congress "strongly opposes any talk of re-implementing the three black anti-farmer laws”.

“Even after the martyrdom of 750 farmers, the anti-farmer BJP and Modi government did not realize their grave crime! Due to the statements made by Modiji, his ministers, MPs and propaganda machinery have become accustomed to insulting farmers,” he added.

“This time, farmers from all the electoral states, including Haryana, will get a befitting reply to the derogatory remarks of the Prime Minister himself in Parliament, calling them ‘agitators’ and ‘parasites’,” Kharge said.

Meanwhile, farmer union leaders called Kangana's statement a 'tactic' to be in the spotlight.

Dr Darshan Pal, national coordination committee member of Samyukta Kisan Morcha, said that the MP was trying to “provoke” farmers.

The president of India's Congress party, Mallikarjun Kharge has raised the matter of highly "objectionable” and inappropriate comments made by members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) against Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the lower house of Indian Parliament (Lok Sabha), Rahul Gandhi, over his controversial remarks made during his recent US trip, in a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday (September 17).

Kharge urged the prime minister to take action against BJP leaders who have used offensive language targeting Rahul Gandhi. He added that strict legal measures should be enforced to curb such behaviour. Kharge wrote to the Prime Minister in Hindi, stating, "I want to draw your attention to an issue that is directly related to democracy and the Constitution. You must be aware that a series of extremely objectionable, violent, and rude statements are being made against the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi.” Expressing shock over the harsh language used by BJP leaders and their allies, Kharge said, “The world is shocked that the Minister of State for Railways in the central government, a minister from BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh, is calling the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha ‘number one terrorist’.” Kharge was referring to comments made by junior railways minister Ravneet Singh Bittu, and UP minister Raghuraj Singh. Kharge further added, “An MLA from a party that has ties with your government in Maharashtra is announcing a reward of ₹11 lakh to the person who ‘cuts off the tongue of the Leader of the Opposition and brings it to him’. A BJP leader and former MLA in Delhi is threatening to make his ‘fate like his grandmother’." Kharge referred to Shiv Sena MLA Sanjay Gaikwad’s announcement of a reward for anyone who cuts off Gandhi’s tongue in response to his views on reservations, and BJP leader Tarvinder Singh Marwah’s remarks. Also read: Shiv Sena MLA offers Rs 11 lakh to ‘cut off’ Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s tongue after US visit comments In his letter, Kharge said that India is globally known for its principles of non-violence, harmony, and compassion. "Our heroes established these as standards in politics. Gandhi ji had made these standards an important part of politics during the British rule itself. After independence, there has been a long history of respectful disagreements between the ruling party and the opposition in the parliamentary arena. This has worked to enhance the prestige of Indian democracy," he wrote. He added that Congress leaders and workers are deeply troubled by the current situation. He said, "Due to such hate-mongering forces, Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, Indira Gandhi, and Rajiv Gandhi had to sacrifice their lives. This political behaviour of the ruling party is an example of rudeness in democratic history.” In his letter, Kharge further requested the PM that strict disciplinary action be taken on BJP leaders involved and urged them to refrain from such behaviour. "Strict legal action should be taken for such statements so that Indian politics can be prevented from becoming degenerate. Nothing untoward happens. I trust that you will give the required instructions to these leaders to immediately stop making violent statements," Kharge wrote. (With inputs from agencies)

Both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Indian National Congress (INC) have called Arvind Kejriwal's announcement to resign from the post of Delhi chief minister in the next 48 hours as PR and gimmick.

Addressing his party workers on Sunday (Sep 15), two days after being released on bail from the Tihar Jail, Kejriwal made the shocking announcement, whilst calling for early elections.

"This is a PR stunt by Arvind Kejriwal. He has understood that his image among the people of Delhi is not of an honest leader but of a corrupt leader, today Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is known across the country as a corrupt party," said BJP national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari.

"Under his PR stunt, he wants to restore his image. He wants to apply the Sonia Gandhi model, where she made Manmohan Singh a dummy Prime Minister and ran the government from behind the scenes," he added.

BJP's Harish Khurana further questioned why the AAP leader was not resigning today instead of creating the '48-hour' drama.

"Why after 48 hours? He should resign today. In the past too, he has done this. People of Delhi are asking, he can't go to the secretariat, can't sign documents? What is the point then?"

Meanwhile, Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit said Kejriwal will never return as the CM.

"There is no question of him becoming the CM again. We have been saying for a long time that he should resign as the CM... This is a mere gimmick," said Dikshit.

"This happened for the first time when an elected leader came out of jail on bail, and was asked by the SC to not go to the CMO or sign any papers. Such conditions were never imposed on any other CM. Maybe even the SC fears that this person might try to tamper with the evidence."

‘Why not today?’: BJP, Congress slam Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal over resignation ‘gimmick’

A major row has erupted in the Indian western state of Gujarat, the stronghold of the national ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), after it was revealed that school students have been enrolled as party members in a membership campaign.

The membership scandal has emerged in the Surendranagar district, and the state’s education department has now launched a probe into the matter. Earlier, the authorities issued a notice to the school management.

Worrying reports

Earlier this week, some media reports claimed, citing messages from the WhatsApp group of KU M R Gardi Vidyalaya school, that students from class 9 and above were made members of the BJP and given cards under a membership campaign.

The students were enrolled as BJP members through the phones of their parents. There are allegations that the students were then handed national flags and were photographed before being registered as party members.

Mukesh Nimavat, the school’s principal, defended himself saying the exercise was done to download a government educational app on the phones.

BJP smells conspiracy

Meanwhile, the BJP said it was an action to defame the party, citing rules that bar registration of members below the age of 18.

Surendranagar BJP district president Hitendrasinh Chauhan said, “Legal action will be taken against everyone behind this. I am investigating who is involved… As per primary investigation that we have conducted, it was revealed that no party member, taluka president, village sarpanch, or worker had gone to the school for the membership drive.”

Reacting to recent comments made by the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, around reservations on his US trip, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla, on Thursday (Sep 12), criticised Gandhi, stating that his views reflect his "political and family DNA."

Poonawalla’s comments follow the controversy caused by Gandhi’s statements during his US visit, where he suggested that the Congress party might consider scrapping reservations once India becomes a "fair place," which, according to him, is not.

"Rahul Gandhi has reflected his political and family DNA regarding reservation, on foreign land. He spoke about ending reservations by Ambedkar ji. His family did that. In 1961, Nehru Ji said that reservation was wrong. He had said that it makes people second-class. Rajiv Gandhi and Indira Gandhi opposed the Mandal Commission and its report. Rajiv Gandhi had said that those who are given reservations are fools," Poonawalla told news agency ANI.

"When UPA came to power, with ill intentions, the Congress party conspired to end the SC, ST, and OBC reservations and give them to a vote bank. They did this in Karnataka. It is happening in Bengal," he added.

Poonawalla said that removing reservations would harm communities like the Valmikis, Gujjars, and Bakkarwals in Jammu and Kashmir. "Today, when Rahul Gandhi goes abroad and says that reservation will be scrapped, it shows that he is reflecting the political character of his family and party...He should tell us that if he indeed committed to reservation, his ally NC says that Article 370 will be restored in J-K - it means that the reservation provided to Valmiki, Gujjar, Bakkarwal for the first time due to PM Modi will be snatched away and distributed among vote bank. Rahul Gandhi should refute this and sever ties with the National Conference," he added further.

What did Rahul Gandhi say during his US visit?

During his interaction with students and faculty at Georgetown University in Washington, DC, Gandhi laid emphasis on the importance of a caste census. He added that 90 per cent of India’s population, comprising OBCs, Dalits, and Adivasis, lacks adequate representation, which he called the "elephant in the room".

"There's an elephant in the room. When we talk about the capture of institutions, businesses, and the media, the elephant in the room is that 90 per cent of India--OBCs, Dalits, Adivasis--aren't even part of the game. That's the elephant in the room," Rahul Gandhi said.

"The fact of the matter is they are not getting participation. The problem is that 90 per cent of India is not able to play...We will think of scrapping reservations when India is a fair place and India is not a fair place. Now, that creates a problem. There are people from the upper caste who say 'What have we done wrong, why are we being punished,'" he further added.

Aam Aadmi Party rages as President forwards BJP's demand to 'dismiss' Delhi govt

India's Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Tuesday slammed Congress MP Rahul Gandhi over his remarks in the US, about the Sikh community, saying that the opposition leader is trying to create a "dangerous narrative" by speaking untruth on "sensitive issues" abroad.

The Union Minister, while addressing a press conference at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) headquarters in New Delhi, said that Gandhi's comments were "sinister" in nature as he tried to spread falsehood among the Sikh diaspora in the US.

"I condemn in the strongest terms the statement he has made about Sikhs not being able to wear turbans and kadas," Puri said.

"I think this is far more sinister because Rahul Gandhi was trying to spread a false narrative while speaking in front of those, who belong to my community and are trying to eke out a living in the US with hard work and honesty. Because they do not have much connection with the country (India)," he said.

Referring to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots which took place when the Congress was in power, Puri said, "If there has been one time in our history when as a community we have felt anxiety, a sense of insecurity and existential threat, it has been the times when Rahul Gandhi's family has been in the seats of power."

"In 1984, a pogrom was carried out against the Sikh community. As many as 3,000 innocent people were killed. People were dragged out of their homes, tyres were put around them and burnt alive," he added.
