The DDR&D team in India will conduct the "final stages of testing" in the country divided into four types - isothermal test, polyamino acids test, breathalyzer test and voice test.

The two countries will take the help of artificial intelligence to develop the kit which will be validated through using PCR tests.

The Israeli delegation arriving in India to conduct the test will also be getting mechanical ventilators with special permission from the government of Israel for export to India.

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu announces 'cooperation' with UAE to combat coronavirus

Israel's Supreme Court on Wednesday approved a coalition deal between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his rival-turned-ally Benny Gantz, paving the way for a unity government to be sworn in next week.

The alliance formed last month between Netanyahu and Gantz followed three inconclusive elections in less than a year.

They will swap roles midway through the deal, with cabinet positions split between Netanyahu's Likud party and Gantz's Blue and White alliance, as well as their respective allies.

Israel has been without a stable government since December 2018 and the deal offers rare political stability as the country seeks to repair the economic damage wrought by the novel coronavirus, which has infected more than 16,000 people in the country.

As the decision was delivered, a joint statement released by the justices of the Supreme Court said that the new government would be sworn in on May 13.

Israel MPs tasked with ending deadlock over unity government

Israel's ex-military chief Benny Gantz called for an emergency unity government after being elected parliament speaker Thursday, likely leading to an alliance with his rival Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to tackle coronavirus.

"These are unusual times and they call for unusual decisions," Gantz told the Knesset, Israel's parliament, after his election to the post of speaker.

"That is why I intend to explore the formation of an emergency unity government," he added.

His words and election as speaker come after Israel's third inconclusive national polls in less than a year on March 2.

Gantz, a centrist, and the right-wing Netanyahu have both failed to secure enough support to form a stable coalition following each of the three national elections.

The coronavirus pandemic, including more than 2,600 confirmed Israeli cases, has spurred widespread calls for a temporary unity government to end the deadlock.

"The people of Israel are justifiably looking to us and expecting us to keep supporting the sacred battle against coronavirus and its effects," Gantz said.

While attention has immediately turned to details of the expected unity deal, Gantz's move has also triggered an apparent break-up of his centrist bloc.

Top allies of Blue and White, the centrist party he led, on Thursday announced a break with Gantz, likely over his willingness to strike a deal with Netanyahu.

Israel's Gantz calls for 'emergency unity government'

Israel's President Reuven Rivlin will on Monday formally ask Benny Gantz to try to form the country's next government, after the ex-military chief secured recommendations from a majority of lawmakers.

"Tomorrow, around midday, the president will assign the task of forming the government to (the) head of Kachol Lavan... Benny Gantz," Rivlin's office said in a statement Sunday, using the Hebrew name for Gantz's centrist Blue and White party.

An official tally from Rivlin's office said 61 lawmakers recommended Gantz, with 58 supporting Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, after a third general election in less than a year held on March 2. Israel's parliament, the Knesset, is comprised of 120 seats.

But there is no guarantee that the disparate forces who supported Gantz on Sunday will agree on terms on a stable coalition, something that proved impossible following the two inconclusive elections last year.

On top of support from Blue and White and a smaller centre-left alliance, Gantz was also recommended by the mainly Arab Joint List and the secular, nationalist Yisrael Beiteinu party.

Aside from being anti-Netanyahu, the Joint List and Yisrael Beiteinu have almost no political common ground.

Netanyahu's alliance, seen as more cohesive, includes his right-wing Likud as well as its religious, nationalist ally Yemina and two ultra-Orthodox parties.

Rivlin also summoned both Gantz and Netanyahu for talks to take place later on Sunday, following calls for a unity alliance to confront the deadly new coronavirus.

A presidency statement said Rivlin wanted to have "an urgent conversation this evening... regarding the possibility of immediately establishing a government."

Rivlin has previously stressed the need to avoid a fourth election and stressed the urgency of quickly forming a government to combat the pandemic.

"This is a time of trial," Rivlin said earlier Sunday.

"We must now deal with forming a government as soon as possible, (so) that we lead our people at this complex time."

A presidency statement said Rivlin wanted to have "an urgent conversation this evening... regarding the possibility of immediately establishing a government." Rivlin has previously stressed the need to avoid a fourth election and stressed the urgency of quickly forming a government to combat the pandemic. "This is a time of trial," Rivlin said earlier Sunday. "We must now deal with forming a government as soon as possible, (so) that we lead our people at this complex time."

Since the most recent election on March 2, Gantz, who heads the centrist Blue and White party, has been trying to form a government.

Gravitas: Israel elections: Another cliffhanger?

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu led the third election in a year but still fell short of a majority to form the government, nearly complete results showed.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu led the third election in a year but still fell short of a majority to form the government, nearly complete results showed. Netanyahu claimed victory in Monday's vote over his main challenger Benny Gantz of the centrist Blue and White party, after exit polls projected the right-wing leader's Likud party had come out on top. "We turned lemons into lemonade," he told a cheering crowd at Likud's election headquarters as exit polls were released. However, Gantz did not concede defeat, saying the election could result in another deadlock and he understood and shared his supporters' "feeling of disappointment and pain". With some 90 per cent of the votes counted, Netanyahu appeared to control 59 seats in parliament, two short of a ruling majority. The gap made former defence minister Avigdor Lieberman's far-right Yisrael Beiteinu party a potential kingmaker after remaining on the sidelines in inconclusive ballots in April and September, the report added. A win for Netanyahu, 70, would be a testament to the political durability of Israel's longest-serving leader, who fought the latest campaign under the shadow of a looming corruption trial. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday said that if re-elected he would annex swathes of the occupied West Bank within weeks, according to news agency AFP. Netanyahu's comments came a day ahead of Israel's third election in a year. In an interview with Israeli public radio, Netanyahu has reportedly said that annexation of the Jordan Valley and other parts of the West Bank was his top priority among "four major immediate missions". "That will happen within weeks, two months at the most, I hope," he said in the interview aired 24 hours before polls were scheduled to open. For the third time in under 12 months, Israeli citizens will be making a trip to the polling booths. In 2019, Israel held two elections to their parliament and on both occasions, the mandate was fractured -- with no party winning a majority. Just like the last two elections, the key players in this election are sitting prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his rival Benny Gantz. The Israeli parliament or the Knesset has 120 seats up for grabs. US President Donald Trump's widely-criticised Middle East peace plan, unveiled in late January, gave the Jewish state a green light to annex the area and proposed a committee to set out the exact borders of the territory to be annexed.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday sought parliamentary immunity from prosecution over corruption charges against him.

"The immunity law is intended to protect elected politicians from made-up cases, from political indictments targeted at harming the people's will. This law is intended to ensure that those elected will be able to serve the people according to the people's will," the Israeli prime minister said.

"For all those reasons, in order to continue leading Israel to great accomplishments, I intend to make a request to the Speaker of the Knesset according to article 4-G of the law, in order to fulfill my right, my obligation and my mission to continue serving you (Israel's citizens) for the sake of Israel's future," he added.

Netanyahu was charged with bribery, fraud and breach of trust making him the first sitting Israeli leader to have been indicted for corruption.

Opposition leader Benny Gantz hit out at the controversial move. Gantz vowed that his Blue and White party would do everything it could to prevent immunity.

"I never imagined that we would see the day that the prime minister of Israel would avoid standing before the law and the justice system, that a prime minister wouldn't care about the future of the state of Israel, rather only about himself and his individual fate," Gantz said.

"Today it's clear what we're fighting for. Netanyahu knows he's guilty," he added.

The allegations against Netanyahu range from receiving gifts worth thousands of dollars to a deal to change regulatory frameworks in favour of a media group in exchange for favourable press coverage. Another case against the Israeli prime minister is that he made decisions benefiting the Israeli media mogul Shaul Elovitch.

According to law, the trial cannot begin once an immunity request is made. However, the Israeli parliament which has been dissolved ahead of fresh elections is unlikely to rule on the request before th polls.

Netanyahu, who denies any sort of wrongdoing, would still need the support of more than half of mps for immunity to be granted.
