In February this year, the Balochistan Liberation Army released photos of two female suicide attackers—Hawa Baloch and Asifa Mengal. BLA said Baloch was killed while fighting in Gwadar, whereas Mengal stormed the ISI headquarters in Nushki before detonating herself.

At a time when Pakistan has escalated its war against Afghanistan, Asim Munir's forces are struggling to deal with the situation in its own backyard. Balochistan continues to be on the boil. Baloch women have now taken up weapons, even as Pakistan has vowed to crush the insurgency with an iron fist. The Balochistan Liberation Front has launched its female combat unit called Karima Armed Assault Division or KAAD. Fighters belonging to this unit are seen marching and firing weapons at targets. According to BLF, this unit carried out its first operation on September 22 when it ambushed a Pak military convoy on the CPEC highway in Turbat. The group added that its KAAD fighters also established blockades on the Quetta-Karachi highway in Kalat and attacked Munir's forces. Overall, BLF claimed responsibility for the deaths of nine Pakistani military personnel, and destruction of military vehicles. However, Pakistan is yet to react to this claim. According to BLF, this unit is named after prominent political activist Karima Baloch, who headed the Baloch Students Organisation-Azad. While living in exile, she was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Toronto in December 2020. The unit seeks to challenge Pakistan's colonial domination in Balochistan as well as the patriarchal structures within Baloch society. Now, this is not the first time Baloch women have been at the frontline of the struggle against the Pakistani army. In February this year, Balochistan Liberation Army released photos of two female suicide attackers—Hawa Baloch and Asifa Mengal. According to BLA, Baloch was killed while fighting in Gwadar, whereas Mengal stormed the ISI headquarters in Nushki before detonating herself. What stood out was both of them were well-educated. Last week, the Pakistani army claimed to have killed 73 terrorists in a 96-hour period across various parts of Balochistan, including Quetta, Ziarat and Noshki. However, Munir's forces are unable to contain the growing attacks by Baloch rebels, who have staged a number of attacks this year. In July, gunmen killed nine police officers in an attack on a checkpost at the Mangi Dam Project in Balochistan. Earlier in May, over 30 people were killed after a suicide bomber rammed an explosive-laden car into a train in Quetta, which was carrying Pakistani security personnel and their families. This is not all. Pakistan has also suppressed dissent by jailing prominent human rights activists like Mahrang Baloch. Now, by portraying its female members as highly educated and politically conscious, Baloch rebels are making it clear that the insurgency is not just an armed rebellion, but an intellectual movement that can transcend sectarian divisions. With the South Asia Terrorism Portal reporting over 552 incidents of killing in Balochistan this year, a key question arises. As Pakistan faces pressure from Saudi to join the war against Houthis, can it even afford to do so when it is unable to deal with the deteriorating security situation in Balochistan as well as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa? It is apparent that Munir faces an uphill task...

The European Parliament has tabled a joint motion for a resolution condemning the targeting of religious and ethnic minorities in Pakistan, highlighting cases of abduction and forced conversion of young girls, as well as the persecution of Baloch and Pashtun activists. The resolution, backed by major political groups including the centre-right European People's Party (EPP), Socialists and Democrats (S&amp;D), European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR), Renew Europe, and the Greens/EFA, draws attention to the case of 13-year-old Christian girl Maria Shahbaz. In March 2026, Pakistan’s Federal Constitutional Court rejected a petition from her father, upholding her forced conversion and marriage to an older man despite allegations of abduction. It describes the ruling as emblematic of broader failures to protect vulnerable girls from minority communities. “Poverty and marginalisation heighten women’s and girls’ risk of abduction, forced conversion and marriage,” the text states, noting that in 2025 roughly 75% of such cases involved Hindu girls and 25% Christian girls, predominantly in Sindh province. The motion also addresses the targeting of prominent human rights defenders. It expresses “strong concerns at the use of blasphemy, anti-terrorism and cybercrime laws to target minorities, opponents and civil society,” citing the convictions of figures including Baloch activist Mahrang Baloch and Sibghatullah Shahji, as well as calls for the release or fair treatment of others such as Ali Wazir and Hanif Pashteen.&nbsp;ALSO READ: <a href="https://www.wionews.com/india-news/social-media-ban-for-teens-on-the-cards-pm-modi-praises-australia-s-under-16-social-media-ban-says-we-re-taking-lessons-from-you-1783614717670">Social media ban for teens on the cards? Human rights violations&nbsp;in the&nbsp;Balochistan&nbsp;province of&nbsp;Pakistan&nbsp;have drawn concern in the international community.

The violations have taken place during the ongoing&nbsp;Balochistan conflict&nbsp;between&nbsp;Baloch nationalists,&nbsp;terrorists and the government of Pakistan&nbsp;over the rule of&nbsp;Balochistan. It is&nbsp;the largest province by land area of modern-day Pakistan and&nbsp;also the most oppressed.

Baloch Liberation Army targets Pakistan and Chinese assets

The Free Balochistan Movement (FBM) held several simultaneous protests and awareness campaign in London, Germany, Netherlands, USA, Canada and Austria on December 10 to mark the `International Human Rights Day`.

The FBM activists distributed several thousand leaflets during their three-day campaign in Germany`s Braunschweig city asserting that Baloch people are facing torture, abductions, mass executions and military operations among other human rights abuses and violations.

In a nutshell, Baloch people face state genocidal policies from Pakistan and Iran just because they own a land rich in resources.

"Today we are marking the day in Germany and many other countries simultaneously as the `International Human Rights Day` declared by the United Nations in 1948, the same year when Pakistan occupied Balochistan. Since then, Balochistan is struggling for their basic right of freedom and liberty but it is sad to see the Baloch voice has always been unnoticed and unheard," the FBM activists highlighted.

They Baloch activists have urged all free-born human beings to come forward, raise voices and fulfil their moral responsibilities, so that "we, Baloch, also avail our right to live free and get rid of the inhuman treatment from ruthless Islamic fanatics who are also responsible for terrorising the world."

The enforced disappearances are an urgent issue in Balochistan. The Pakistani army and security forces have abducted and disappeared, at least 20,000 Baloch political and human rights activists since 2000. So far mutilated bodies of about 6000 of these victims have been discovered in different parts of Balochistan.

In London, the FBM activist though a letter informed Amnesty International that enforced disappearances of Baloch political and human rights activists are not a new occurrence.

The Punjabi army of Pakistan illegally occupied the independent state of Balochistan in March 1948.

"To this day, Pakistan has carried out five major military operations in Balochistan. As a result of which thousands of Baloch have been killed, disappeared and over a million have been displaced. The policy of abduction, torture, rape, and killing of Baloch women and children in Balochistan started with illegal occupation of Balochistan by Pakistan army. Targeting Baloch women and children has been a chief policy of Pakistan to pressurise the Baloch political and human rights activists to stop their activities for independence and for the Baloch freedom fighters to hand themselves into the Pakistani army," the speakers explained.

The participants said that for the recovery of their loved ones, the Baloch families have organised the longest march in human history from Shal, the capital city in eastern Balochistan, to Islamabad capital city of Pakistan about 3000 kilometres in 2013. These families have also been sitting in from Quetta Press Club for more than 3400 Days.

"East Balochistan is under total military occupation of Pakistan and all news about Balochistan is controlled by the Pakistani army. There is no independent media, reporter or a human rights organisation in Balochistan," Baloch leader Shahzavar Baloch said.

The FBM activists have urged Amnesty International and other Human Rights activists to take a few steps for ending enforced-disappearance in Balochistan. They have demanded a formation of an independent committee comprising the representatives of the UN, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, Asian Human Rights Commission, Red Cross, Independent academics and Baloch representatives to investigate and report openly all cases of Baloch abducted and disappeared persons by the Islamic State of Pakistan.

The Baloch activists also require free access to all independent media to every corner of Balochistan to reveal the true situation and to report actual facts about Balochistan to the world. They also sought for an immediate release of all abducted Baloch political and human rights activists, especially innocent Baloch women and children.

Lastly, they also demanded an identification and prosecution of all members of the Punjabi army of Pakistan and their proxies who have committed crimes against humanity in Balochistan in an open and independent court.

Ameer added that those who believed in humanity and freedom should support the Baloch people in their independence movement and called on for strict action against the Pakistani military forces.

"I request all to participate in our freedom movement. We want to tell the world that whatever atrocities are being committed against our people, we will continue to raise our voice against it until we achieve complete independence from Pakistan. Baloch activists protest in South Korea against Pak atrocities

A large number of exiled Baloch activists recently took to the streets of Berlin, Canada and the United Kingdom to observe Black Day and protested against Pakistan's forceful occupation of Balochistan.

The protesters chanted anti-Pakistan slogans and carried flags to commemorate what they say was the annexation of Balochistan in 1948 by Pakistan's armed forces.

Aziz Baloch, a Free Balochistan movement activist in Canada, said that Pakistan army has been conducting an internal displacement throughout Balochistan for many years.

He further claimed that Islamabad has forcefully abducted 20,000 Baloch people till now.

"Even after seven decades of its forceful occupation, Pakistan has failed to provide even basic facilities such as primary education, healthcare and potable water to the people of the resource-rich province of Balochistan," he added.

Aziz further called the much-vouched China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as a 'satanic coalition'&nbsp;between the two countries."The China- Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which is constantly touted as the economic game changer by Islamabad administration has only added to the woes of the people of the region," said Aziz.

Further, President of the Canada-based World Baloch Women's Forum Professor Naela Quadri Baloch said, "Pakistan has sold Balochistan to China.

"The Chinese Navy and other forces are coming to Balochistan because Pakistan is no more able to keep us, slaves," Naela Quadri said.

The Baloch activists have been trying to voice their concerns at multiple international platforms, including the United Nations.

Recently, at the 37th session of the Human Rights Council, activists raised the issue of enforced disappearances, torture and killings of several Baloch activists and intellectuals.

A Pakistan journalist, named Taha Siddiqui, said that the Islamabad government has been neglecting the instances of abduction of the Baloch natives for many years.

"There is a camp for missing Baloch persons outside the Islamabad Press Club that is going on for many years now. And, it does not get any coverage in local media. There are women and children sitting with photos of their loved ones who have been missing for months, years and even at times for decades. And, there is no end to their misery," Siddiqui said.

Siddiqui, in a March 28 interview, had informed that March 27 is observed as 'Black Day'&nbsp;as on that day Pakistan attacked the province in 1948 and illegally occupied it with internationally recognised borders and a legal system of governance.

A large number of people in Balochistan are internally displaced whereas many have taken exile in other countries.

The situation is deteriorating as the Pakistan army and its intelligence agency are on a rampage to eliminate the identity of indigenous Baloch people.
