All the goals were done in the first half itself with India skipper Harmanpreet Singh scoring both of India's goals. It was Pakistan who drew first blood as Ahmad Nadeem scored in the 8th minute for them.&nbsp;

Harmanpreet scored the equaliser five minutes later on a penalty corner and scored another one in the 19th minute to give India eventually a decisive lead.

Soon,&nbsp;Gurjant Singh scored whereas&nbsp;Akashdeep Singh scored the winner, with four minutes left, to take India to a stunning 4-3 win.

After the win, top dignitaries congratulated India on the stunning win. The Men in Blue remained unbeaten throughout the competition and held their nerves, displayed commendable fighting spirit to come from behind and clinch the title in the marquee finale. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also lauded Harman &amp; Co. for their historic achievement on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.

Ahead of the marquee Indo-Pak clash, WION's Sports Editor Digvijay Singh Deo caught up with India head coach Craig Fulton in an exclusive interaction. Prior to the much-awaited face-off in Chennai, Fulton stated that he is excited about the big-ticket clash but played down the hype saying Harmanpreet &amp; Co. need to 'back their own structure and training' and look to keep improving.

On India's overall run so far, Fulton said, "Been a great experience so far and the home fans have been fantastic." Sharing his take on the Indo-Pak rivalry, he opined, "I have watched a few of these games before (Indo-Pak clashes). Been prepared for a long time for this clash ever since I took this job. Very excited about this, especially at this stage of the tournament. It is an important game. We need to play the game and not the occasion. It brings its own pressure but you got to back your own structure and training and look to improve in areas where we need to."

The 48-year-old Fulton opened up on the Pakistan line-up and said, "Yeah, they are in a nice rebuilding stage. As every national team does, they are in a rebuilding stage and a team to watch out for."

It is to be noted that the Men in Green are in a spot of bother in the continental tournament. They need to win to guarantee a spot in the last four. A defeat would leave their fate on the result of the China-Japan tie. If they lose to India, Pakistan will hope for China's win. Incase Japan outplays China, the victory of the margin should be lesser. In addition, Pakistan will hope for Malaysia to go past&nbsp;South Korea by a handsome margin to benefit their chances.

Talking about India's run and the fitness standards, the South African said, "In four games, we have scored 16 goals. Putting back-to-back performances has been tough. We have done well versus China and Malaysia. We are still in a good place and am very happy with where we are. I am happy with the fitness level. We have played nine games in 12 days and we still have three more games to go. It is a challenge but we are up for it. We need most recovery towards the end of the tournament."

Their semifinals spot guaranteed, India prevailed over defending champions South Korea 3-2 in their fourth round-robin fixture of the Asian Champions Trophy here on Monday, maintaining their unbeaten run in the continental hockey tournament. Even before the action got underway at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Hockey Stadium, India had sealed their place in the semi-finals, following Japan's loss to Malaysia earlier in the day. 
Both teams began the match on a fast-paced note, playing mainly possession-based hockey.

In the sixth minute, the deadlock was broken by the hosts, as Nilakanta Sharma tapped the ball in after Sukhjeet Singh dribbled the ball past a couple of defenders. Unfazed by the goal, Korea came up with a couple of chances of their own but the Indian defence was up to the task. However, the Koreans did not take much time to equalise as Sunghyun Kim hammered it in after Manjae Jung's low pass, in the 12th minute. 
In the second quarter, it was all about India as they came up with as many as four chances and scored their second goal in the 23rd minute through a penalty corner.

The PC was successfully converted by Harmanpreet Singh, who hit the ball low to the right of the goalkeeper before beating him. The Indians followed that up with more attacks, including a PC, but to no avail, as they maintained their slim 1-0 lead at half-time. After the restart, Korea squandered a PC earned through video referral, even as Amit Rohidas was green-carded.

However, India came up with an attacking move and it resulted in a field goal by Mandeep Singh, as Shamsher Singh's assist allowed the former to collect it comfortably and fire it in. Korea received another PC but skipper Jonghyun Jang's shot went wide. It was followed by three chances for India, with Karthi Selvam and Mandeep Singh coming close, as the game moved into the fourth quarter.

Just two minutes into the final quarter, India earned a PC, which ultimately resulted in a penalty stroke. But, Harmanpreet's attempt to go low towards the keeper's right saw his effort being denied. A minute later, a video referral allowed Korea to gain a PC, which resulted in it earning three more straight PCs. However, Jang failed to convert either of them. India continued with their attacking intent, with a double save coming from the Korean goalie in the 50th minute off Mandeep and Sukhjeet's shots.

It was followed by another series of PCs for Korea, while they also opted for a review for a possible PC, only to lose it. Finally, in the 58th minute, Jihun Yang found the back of the net through a field goal, keeping the Indians on their toes.

Even as the Koreans looked for the equaliser, the Indian defence managed to hold on to the one-goal lead. 
India will next be up against arch-rival Pakistan on Wednesday, while Korea, who remain in the top-four race, face Malaysia.

<h2>What happened in the contest?</h2>

After winning the opening contest by a big margin, the expectations were high from the home side as they started brightly. However, it were the visitors that struck the crushing blow for India as they broke the deadlock in the 28th minute of the contest to give Japan a deserved 1-0 lead. Ken Nagayoshi scored his first international goal for the side as they waved for a big upset. The Indian side would then push strong for the equaliser but were unsuccessful in the remainder of the second quarter.

The hosts made no mistake to find the back of the net as Harmanpreet Singh brought the eight-time Olympic champions at parity. The hosts were then on the front foot and had a series of opportunities to go get the three points, but were undone by a resolute Japanese defence. The scoreboard would then remain undisturbed at 1-1 for the rest of the contest as Japan stole a point.

<h2>India’s next challenge</h2>

India will next take on table toppers Malaysia in a top of the table clash with a win seeing them all but through to the semifinals of the Asian Champions Trophy. The hosts will then take on South Korea on Monday, August 7 before closing the league campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan on Wednesday.

As things stand, Malaysia are top of the standing with six points and are the only team with a perfect record while both India and South Korea are separated by just goal difference.

The top four teams in the league stage will meet in the semifinals before the final takes place on Saturday, August 12.&nbsp;

India, who have already sealed a semifinal berth, ended the round-robin stage of the five-nation tournament at the top of the standings with 10 points, ahead of Korea (6), Japan (5), Pakistan (2) and hosts Bangladesh (0).

This was India's third win on the trot. Held to a draw by Korea in their lung-opener, the Manpreet Singh-led side turned things around defeating Bangladesh 9-0, while also getting the better of arch-rivals Pakistan before easily overcoming the Japanese challenge.

India's semifinal opponent was yet to be decided.

The dominant victory will be a huge boost for India as they head into the business end of the tournament full of confidence.

They completely outperformed Japan, the Asian Games gold medallists, in all departments.

India dominated the first half. They earned two back-to-back penalty corners within the first six minutes of the the first quarter but were unable to convert either. Soon after Japan also wasted a penalty corner as their striker fired the shot wide.

Japan began the second half on the offensive but it was India who scored their third goal courtesy Jaramanpreet's clean strike.

A crucial PC coming their way in the 36th minute, Japan looked to capitalise on the chance but India keeper Suraj Karkera, who shone in the absence of regular custodian P Sreejesh, pulled off a superb save to deny them.

Japan tried to up the ante as they attacked in numbers. With India a man down, Japan looked to create an opportunity with Kenta Tanaka breaking the Indian defence with a solo run, but, once again, Karkera foiled the attack.

Japan continued to test the Indian defence but the backline stood tall.

It was India's second win in the tournament after their 9-0 drubbing of hosts Bangladesh, while Pakistan are still winless, having drawn goal-less against Japan in their opening match.

Indian Men's Hockey Team on Wednesday registered a thumping 9-0 win over hosts Bangladesh in the Asian Champions Trophy here at the Maulana Bhasani Hockey Stadium. 
 
It was Dilpreet Singh who starred in India's win with a fine hat-trick that gave India a breakthrough in the first quarter. He scored goals in the 12th, 22nd and 44th minute to put pressure on the Bangladeshi defence while Jarmanpreet Singh (31', 43'), Lalit Upadhyay (29'), Akashdeep Singh (54'), Mandeep Mor (55') and Harmanpreet Singh (57') too scored in India`s first win at the prestigious Continental tournament.

The match started with a resilient Bangladeshi defence disrupting their high-octane attacks of Indian forwards. The final quarter saw an array of goals scored by India which helped them seal the victory with nine goals. India dominated the match with 16 shots on goal and 25 circle entries.

Speaking about their performance, skipper Manpreet Singh said, "It was a good effort from the team and we tried different variations in this match which we had been working on during our training. I feel at the start, we couldn`t convert as Bangladesh had put up a very strong PC defence. But at half-time, Coach Graham provided important inputs on how we could improvise our attack and as you all could see we improvised as the match progressed." 
 
"We will go back and further analyse today`s and yesterday`s game (against Korea) and find ways to come up with a much better performance against Pakistan," he added.

&nbsp;India was denied a winning start to their campaign at the Men`s Asian Champions Trophy with a spirited Korean team holding the defending champions to a thrilling 2-2 draw here at the Maulana Bhasani Hockey Stadium. For India, Lalit Kumar Upadhyay (3`) and Harmanpreet Singh (33`) scored while Jonghyun Jang (42`) and Kim Hyeongjin (46`) scored in Korea`s resurgence. Although it was India who dominated the proceedings in the first and second quarter with better ball possession (58 per cent) and a higher number of circle penetrations (14 for India and 8 for Korea), the Korean side rallied on a strong defensive structure in the third and fourth quarter to deny any opportunity for India to score.

After Lalit put India ahead early in the game with a fine field goal, converted brilliantly after controlling the ball upon receiving an aerial pass in the attacking circle, India created another fine opportunity in the second quarter through Akashdeep Singh`s tomahawk from the left top of the circle. But a highly vigilant Korean goalie Kim Jaehyeon made a fine save to keep India from extending the lead. He came up with another brilliant save when India won their first PC of the match only minutes before the end of the second quarter. Hockey India on Friday named the 18-member squad for the upcoming Donghae women's Asian Champions Trophy which is scheduled to be held between December 5 - 12.

India begin their campaign on the opening day and will battle it out against China, Korea, Japan, Thailand and Malaysia in the single-pool tournament for top honours.

The Indian team will see Savita, who was named the FIH Goalkeeper of the Year, captain the side along with experienced defender Deep Grace Ekka, who will be her deputy.

The team includes goalkeeper Rajani Etimarpu and defenders Udita, Nikki Pradhan, Gurjit Kaur, who were all part of the Tokyo Olympics squad.

As many as six Indian players made entries on the score-sheet on Sunday night in a dominating show that reaffirmed their supremacy in Asia and showed that the below-par Asian Games performance was an aberration.&nbsp;

With their third successive win, India lead the six-team event's league standings with a maximum nine points, followed by Malaysia on six points from two games.&nbsp;

Strikers Lalit Upadhyay and Mandeep Singh scored two goals each, while drag-flicker Harmanpreet Singh converted a penalty stroke and a penalty corner to lead the goal-fest.&nbsp;

Upadhyay opened the Indian scoring in the fourth minute with a diving deflection and again got into the action in the 45th minute for his double, while Harmanpreet converted a penalty stroke in the 17th minute and then sounded the board with a low penalty corner shot in the 21st minute.&nbsp;

As Japan's defence was swept away by the Indian raids, Mandeep Singh capitalised on two openings in the last quarter -- in the 49th and 57th minute.&nbsp;

Indian men's hockey team defeated their arch-rivals Pakistan 3-1 at the Asian Champions Trophy hockey tournament on Saturday.

This is India's second continuous win of the tournament as earlier team India had outclassed hosts Oman 11-0 in their opening match.

Muhammad Irfan Junior of Pakistan scored&nbsp;team's only goal in the opening minutes of the match&nbsp;to stun team India.

India, however, came back into the match in the second quarter when skipper Manpreet Singh (24th minute) netted the equalizer.

Mandeep Singh scored in the 33rd minute as India took a 2-1 lead.
