Diana Edulji, the trailblazer for women’s cricket in India both on and off the field, is the first female cricketer from the country to be inducted into ICC’s Hall of Fame.&nbsp;

Outside of her three-decade career on the field, wherein as a left-arm orthodox spinner, she picked over 100 wickets, Edulji worked towards providing employment opportunities for talented female cricketers in the country in the Railways. She also helped shape the sports policy of Western and Indian Railways.

“At the outset, I would like to thank the ICC and the Jury for having selected me to be inducted in the ICC Hall Of Fame 2023," Edulji said. “It indeed is a great honour to be the first Indian Women Cricketer to be inducted and join a galaxy of cricketers, male and female from across the world.&nbsp;

"I am delighted to be considered for this award. It's not only a proud moment for me, my family and friends but also for BCCI and Indian Women's Cricket.”

"If you look at the current way of handling players, looking at current situation(s) world-wide, there is a rotation (of players) all over the world and these players being in a bubble has become very challenging for some of these youngsters, it is not easy," added De Silva.

"….it is very important to keep their minds occupied, maybe it will come to a stage where rotating some of these players, even some of the officials to that extent, because they are put in some of these bubbles has taken the toll on some of these youngsters and officials.

"So, I guess, this method might be something for the future. Even if you send a second string team or third team string, it is not a third string team, it is a rotational sort of (arrangement)," he added.

"…I guess I won't blame anyone for changing squads and sending different squads on various tours, that I guess is going to be the future,” said 55-year-old De Silva, who has played 93 Tests.

Aluthgamage had said that the 2011 World Cup final between India and Sri Lanka was fixed by “certain parties” while receiving backlash from former players such as Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene.&nbsp;
