Indian Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday (Jul 20) launched a scathing attack on the Jharkhand chief minister, accusing him of promoting "love jihad" and "land jihad" in the state. Shah said that Chief Minister Hemant Soren's policies were instrumental in the change of&nbsp;the demography of the tribal state.

"A tribal Chief Minister, instead of worrying about the tribals, is disturbing the balance of land and population by doing 'land jihad' and 'love jihad'. Thousands of infiltrators marry tribal girls, get certificates, and buy land. The tribal population is going to decrease in the coming days, it has decreased even now," Shah said during a party event in Ranchi.

'Involved in love jihad, land jihad': Amit Shah's scathing attack on Jharkhand CM Soren

Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced on Monday (July 1) that the new criminal laws, which came into effect from July 1, have ended the era of British laws in India, transforming the criminal justice system into one that is 'completely Swadeshi'.

The Union Minister emphasised that these laws align with the spirit of the Constitution and, once fully implemented, will represent the most modern set of laws.

"I congratulate the people of India that about 77 years after independence, our criminal justice system is becoming completely 'Swadeshi'. This will function on Indian philosophy. After 75 years, these laws were considered upon and when these laws are in effect from today (July 1), colonial laws have been scrapped and laws made in the Indian Parliament are being brought into practice," he said.

The Union Minister further mentioned that many groups will benefit from the new criminal laws, which prioritise women and children.

“Now, instead of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), there will be Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), instead of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), there will be Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), instead of the Indian Evidence Act, there will be Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA),” said the Home Minister.

"We have prioritised sections and chapters in accordance with the spirit of our Constitution, with the first priority given to crimes against women and children. I believe this should have been done much earlier," Shah remarked.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) dismissed Congress leader Jairam Ramesh's plea for one week of time extension to substantiate his allegations against Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Ramesh had claimed that Shah was calling district magistrates (DMs) and collectors, alleging that he had contacted 150 of them.

The ECI has now demanded that Ramesh provide evidence for his claims by 7 pm on Monday (June 3). In the press briefing held by ECI on Monday ahead of the declaration of the results of the Lok Sabha elections, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar addressed the allegations.

While saying that the vote counting process is 'absolutely robust',&nbsp;Kumar reacted strongly to Ramesh’s claims saying, “It's not right to spread a rumour and doubt everyone...Can someone influence them (district magistrates/returning officers) all? Tell us who did this. We will punish the person who did it...It is not right that you spread a rumour and doubt everyone.”

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has received over 3,000 applications for the post of head coach of the men's senior team after opening the process earlier this month. The deadline to apply for the position was May 27 and according to reports, several fake applicants have used the names of&nbsp;famous personalities such as Sachin Tendulkar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah&nbsp;and former captain MS Dhoni to apply for the position.&nbsp;

BCCI had invited applications for the job on Google Forms and immediately witnessed&nbsp;a large number of fake&nbsp;applications for the post on a daily basis, according to a report in The Indian Express.&nbsp;

Notably, it was the same case last year when BCCI was looking for Rahul Dravid's replacement before giving him an extension. Dravid's contract as the head coach of the men's senior national team expires after the T20 World Cup and the former Indian captain is not looking to extend his tenure this time.&nbsp;

"The selection process will include a thorough review of applications, followed by personal interviews and assessments of shortlisted candidates," the job description added.&nbsp;

Jay Shah, the BCCI secretary, has made it clear that there will be no split coaching duties - meaning any former player who takes up the job, will have to be on the road for 10 months a year.&nbsp;

He stated that PM Modi has already won 270 seats in the previous four phases and is on his way to the third century. Shah highlighted PM Modi's humble origins and said that on the one hand, there is Rahul Gandhi born with a silver spoon in his mouth, and on the other hand, there is PM Modi born to the family of a poor tea vendor from the backward class. ‘Will take PoK back,’ Amit Shah says Modi govt is not afraid of Pakistan’s atom bomb

India's Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday (May 9) asserted that if the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) comes to power, then it will scrap the Muslim reservation and will increase the reservation of SC, ST, and OBC communities.

SC, ST and OBC stands for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes, respectively.

"Congress wants to fight elections by speaking lies. They say that if Prime Minister Narendra Modi comes, he will finish the reservation. Prime Minister Modi has been leading this country unanimously for the last 10 years, but he did not end the reservation. However, the Congress party has robbed the reservations of SC, ST and OBC by giving 4 per cent reservation to Muslims," Shah said at a rally in the southern city of Hyderabad.

"In 2019, the public of Telangana gave us four seats. This time, we will win more than 10 Lok Sabha seats in Telangana. This double-digit score in Telangana will make PM Modi cross 400 seats... Make BJP victorious on more than 10 seats. We will end the Muslim reservation and increase the reservation of SC, ST, and OBC," he added.

He then took a swipe at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, and said, "In our manifesto, we have given Modi's guarantees and he does what he says. And the guarantees of Rahul baba doesn't even stay till sunset."

Shah slammed Gandhi for making false promises stating, "Rahul Gandhi promised to forgive the farmer loans but he didn't, he promised to give Rs 15,000 to farmers but he didn't fulfil that."

"He (Rahul Gandhi) promised to give loans of Rs 5 lakh to students without guarantee but didn't, he didn't give scooty to girl students as promised by him, and he didn't open International Schools in every Taluka. The Congress doesn't fulfil its promises while PM Modi ji fulfils every promise," he further said.&nbsp;

<h2>Yadav calls for Muslim reservation, stirs political row</h2>

Shah's comments came after Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav stirred a political row with his remarks about giving complete reservation to Muslims.

Calling for a Muslim quota, the former Bihar chief minister&nbsp;said, "Muslims should get a complete reservation." &nbsp;

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, slammed the RJD chief over his remarks and accused the INDI Alliance of slashing the reservation rights of ST, SC and OBC communities.

PM Modi then took a jibe at Lalu stating that the "fodder scam accused" leader who at present is out on bail, is advocating for the reservation rights of the Muslim population.

A case has been registered under Sections 153, 153A, 465, 469, 171G of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 66C of the Information Technology (IT) Act and a probe has been initiated, said the sources as per Indian news agencies.

"The video seems to be doctored, spreading misleading information with the intention of creating disharmony among communities which is likely to affect public tranquillity and public order issues. It is requested to kindly take necessary legal action as per the provisions of law," the ministry said, as per the FIR, reported IANS.

Delhi Police summon Telangana CM Revanth Reddy in Amit Shah's doctored video case

Union Home Minister Amit Shah severely criticised the Congress party's manifesto for the Lok Sabha elections. Union Home Minister Amit Shah severely criticised the Congress party's manifesto for the Lok Sabha elections. Speaking to the news agency ANI, Union Home Minister Shah said on Friday (Apr 26) that following the release of the Congress manifesto, people's inclination towards the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) increased further as the opposition party repeated its old habit of appeasement in its manifesto. "The Congress manifesto speaks of taking personal law forward. I would like to ask Rahul Gandhi, Will this country now work as per Sharia?" Shah asked. "Our Constitution is secular, laws of the land can't be formed based on religion," he added. "Rahul Gandhi speaks of personal law, which is about dividing the country. Personal laws can't be implemented in this country. I am confident that we will see Narendra Modi as the prime minister of the country for the third time," he further told ANI. Shah's remarks came as Prime Minister Narendra Modi came under fire for his remarks after he suggested that if the Congress came to power, it would redistribute the wealth of people to Muslims. "The Congress manifesto says they will calculate the gold with mothers and sisters, get information about it and then distribute that property. They will distribute it to whom - Manmohan Singh's government had said that Muslims have the first right to the country's assets," PM Modi said during a rally in Rajasthan's Banswara last week. "Earlier, when their (Congress) government was in power, they had said that Muslims have the first right to the country's assets. This means to whom will this property be distributed? It will be distributed among those who have more children. "It will be distributed to the infiltrators. Should your hard-earned money go to the infiltrators? Do you approve of this?" he added. The BJP also accused Gandhi of continuing to create a North-South divide in the country on the basis of language and region to vitiate the poll atmosphere. On Thursday, the ECI took cognizance of the alleged Model Code of Conduct (MCC) violations by Modi and Gandhi and asked them to give responses by April 29. (With inputs from agencies)
