An “active shooter” situation was reported at an airbase in the US state of New Jersey, on Thursday (Oct 26) and was briefly placed on lockdown. However, less than an hour later, the lockdown was lifted and all members of the airbase were reported to be safe.

In the first post on X, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst said that an “active shooter” was reported on the JBMDL premises in building 5231 and that all personnel were to lock down until further notice while those outside were asked to “take cover”.&nbsp;

However, less than an hour later, the airbase in an update said that they were no longer under a lockdown and confirmed that all JBMDL members were safe.&nbsp;

“We appreciate the public’s continued support,” the post added.&nbsp;

Police had initially responded to Kennedy Middle School after receiving a report of a man "acting erratically" in the school parking lot.

The man later managed to climb onto the roof of the school and was pursued by two officers on foot.&nbsp;

Officers, as per the report, returned fire after the suspect opened fire. In this crossfire, the suspect was shot and killed.

The incident triggered a large law enforcement response, and the school was put in lockdown by the Germantown School District.

In a statement released on Facebook, the Germantown School district informed parents that all the children were being transported by bus to nearby MacArthur Elementary. It advised parents to carry identification for pickup.

The alert was&nbsp;shared on Twitter by a journalist working with a local news site, KVUE. It read: "There is an Active Attacker near column location 35Z at the Giga Factory Texas. Please take cover and stand by for further details."&nbsp;

Talking to the KVUE,&nbsp;Travis County Sheriff said that they are clearing the building and are yet to hear gunshots or anything that could substantiate reports of a shooter.&nbsp;

"In the process of clearing the building, not hearing any gunshots, no casualties, nothing to substantiate a shooter at this time."

As per the EMS, medics had also responded to the call, prepared to take care of injured and casualties, if any. However, as per KXAN, authorities said no injuries were reported. TCSO told the publication that deputies had cleared the building but that nothing was found.

'Active attacker' situation at Tesla factory in Austin, Texas turns out to be false

At least one person has been killed and&nbsp;four&nbsp;others were injured after a shooting incident in the US state of Georgia's capital city of Atlanta, on Wednesday (May 3), said the&nbsp;Atlanta Police Department. The man&nbsp;accused of opening fire in the waiting room of a&nbsp;medical facility in Atlanta on Wednesday, killing a woman and wounding four others, was arrested in a neighbouring county after hours of&nbsp;manhunt, police said.&nbsp;

Atlanta police announced the arrest of suspect Deion Patterson, 24, at around 8 p.m., almost eight hours after the deadly shooting shortly after noon.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

The police department had earlier issued a "shelter in place" alert and said they are investigating an active shooter in the Midtown Atlanta's&nbsp;Northside Hospital Medical, area of 1110 W Peachtree St NW.&nbsp;&nbsp;The&nbsp;shelter-in-place order has since&nbsp;been lifted in Midtown Atlanta, said police officials. 
 
Police officers clustered outside the front entrance of the Northside Medical building&nbsp;while multiple helicopters hovered overhead. 
 
"Three have been transported to the hospital for treatment and a fourth has been pronounced deceased on scene," said local police officials, adding that they have not&nbsp;heard any additional shots. 
 
The police department had&nbsp;released images of the suspect and said, "Based&nbsp;on our preliminary investigation, these are photos believed to be of the active shooter."&nbsp; 
 
The suspect,&nbsp;later&nbsp;identified as&nbsp;Deion Patterson (24), was arrested after an hours-long manhunt, "The suspect is in custody,"&nbsp;said the APD, without giving any further details. 
 
According to an alert, he was&nbsp;described as&nbsp;a Black male wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, black pants and brown shoes.&nbsp;

Images and videos of the site where the incident took place showed multiple&nbsp;police&nbsp;and other emergency vehicles. Based on the initial investigation, police have said that the shooting occurred&nbsp;after a man became enraged during a trip to the medical facility. 
 
According to&nbsp;Grady Memorial Hospital, among those injured, three were in critical condition and one was stable, reported CBS News.&nbsp;According to&nbsp;Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum, there were five victims in total all of whom were women aged between 25 to 71. One woman, aged 39,&nbsp;died from her injuries. However, no other information was released about the victims.&nbsp; 
 
Atlanta&nbsp;Public Schools said several schools in the area would operate on external lockdown for the rest of the day "out of an abundance of caution." Meanwhile,&nbsp;Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens said that he is in "close contact" with the APD and that those in the area should "shelter in place".&nbsp;

Police cordoned blocks of streets in Midtown, impeding the flow of traffic in the district. According to media reports, an&nbsp;hour after the gunfire, a SWAT team gathered near the High Art Museum, which is around one kilometre away from the shooting scene.&nbsp; 
 
Meanwhile, the&nbsp;Northside Hospital&nbsp;also took to Twitter and said they are "cooperating with law enforcement" after the shooting and urged everyone to "shelter in place and follow instructions from law enforcement on the scene."&nbsp; 
 
Police detail the hours-long manhunt 
 
In a press conference following the hours-long manhunt, Atlanta Police Deputy Chief Charles Hampton said, the suspect&nbsp;went inside Northside Medical Midtown just before noon and&nbsp;shot the first victim not long after.&nbsp;Patterson&nbsp;allegedly used&nbsp;a handgun in the attack&nbsp;before fleeing the scene on foot and&nbsp;went to a nearby Shell station.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Subsequently, he reportedly took an unattended pickup truck and 20 minutes later cameras picked up the vehicle’s tag number and police were alerted, said Hampton. The police were alerted shortly after about the suspect being in&nbsp;Cobb County, just northwest of Atlanta.&nbsp;

According to Grady Memorial Hospital, among those injured, three were in critical condition and one was stable, reported CBS News. According to Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum, there were five victims in total all of whom were women aged between 25 to 71. One woman, aged 39, died from her injuries. However, no other information was released about the victims. Atlanta Public Schools said several schools in the area would operate on external lockdown for the rest of the day "out of an abundance of caution." Meanwhile, Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens said that he is in "close contact" with the APD and that those in the area should "shelter in place". Police cordoned blocks of streets in Midtown, impeding the flow of traffic in the district. According to media reports, an hour after the gunfire, a SWAT team gathered near the High Art Museum, which is around one kilometre away from the shooting scene. Meanwhile, the Northside Hospital also took to Twitter and said they are "cooperating with law enforcement" after the shooting and urged everyone to "shelter in place and follow instructions from law enforcement on the scene." Fight!” the University had said on its Twitter account following the reports.&nbsp;Subsequently, 15 minutes or so later, in another tweet, they indicated that campus police were investigating “possible shots fired” on the campus. It added, “Avoid South Oval area,” adding that a shelter-in-place was activated and continues to remain in effect.

The Ohio base shut down at roughly 9:25 pm (0125 GMT Friday) with security forces sweeping the three-storey National Air and Space Intelligence Center.

Installation Commander Colonel Patrick Miller&nbsp;told local media WHIOTV that two people reported hearing a single gunshot in the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, prompting the search.

"At the end of the night, we did not find a threat,"&nbsp;Miller said.&nbsp;

The base's official account tweeted shortly before 2 am that they had been "given the All Clear. Lockdown has been lifted".

Miller added roughly 100 people barricaded themselves in rooms during the incident.

The facility's loudspeakers -- which had been blaring for several hours so loudly it could be heard outside the base -- broadcast the all-clear, according to WHIOTV.
