Eleven people were injured on Saturday when a car collided with pedestrians near London`s Natural History Museum, in one of the capital`s busiest tourist areas, but police doused concerns it was a terrorist attack, saying it was a road traffic incident.

Police said it was believed the car had mounted the pavement outside the popular attraction in west London and collided with a number of pedestrians.

Officers had arrested a man aged in his 40s at the scene and he was now being questioned on suspicion of dangerous driving after being taken to hospital for treatment.

Britain has suffered five attacks blamed on terrorism so far this year, three of which involved vehicles, and the incident in an area packed with tourists at the weekend had prompted concerns that the collision had been a deliberate act.

"The incident is entirely a road traffic investigation and is not a terrorist-related incident," a police statement said.

London`s ambulance service said they had treated 11 people, mostly for head and leg injuries, with nine taken to the hospital.

Police said none of the injuries were life-threatening or life-changing and the majority of those hospitalised had now been discharged.

Unverified footage from the scene showed a man being pinned to the ground near a crashed black Toyota car.

Oliver Cheshire, a model who is the fiancé of British pop singer Pixie Lott, told the Daily Mail newspaper he was one of those who had helped detain the man. He said three female passengers in the car told him it was a private-hire taxi.

"He was driving down the pavement and hit 11 to 12 people. Then the guy was screaming," he told the paper. "He looked at me and I was really in shock. I got out of my car and grabbed him — three of us grabbed him — and someone phoned the police."

Cheshire later wrote on Twitter: "Thanks for messaging everybody. I’m ok. Thank you to the men who helped me pin him down and the police for coming so quickly."

Neither police nor Transport for London, which runs most of the city`s transport system, would comment on the status of the vehicle.

"My thanks to the first responders at this incident this afternoon and the actions of members of the public. My thoughts are with the injured," Prime Minister Theresa May said on Twitter.

Britain is on its second highest security alert level, meaning an attack by militants is considered highly likely.

In March, a man drove a car into pedestrians on London`s Westminster Bridge killing four before stabbing a police officer to death in the grounds of parliament.

Three Islamist militants drove into people on London Bridge in June before stabbing people at nearby restaurants and bars, killing eight. The same month, a van was driven into worshippers near a mosque in north London which left one man dead.

The Indian Air Force today ordered a court of inquiry into the accident involving a Sukhoi jet whose wreckage was found today 60 km from Tezpur in India's north-eastern state Assam.

The Su-30 MKI jet, with two pilots on board, had gone missing on Tuesday shortly after taking off from the Tezpur Salonibari air force station on a routine training sortie.

"A court of inquiry has been ordered to investigate the cause of the accident," said IAF spokesperson Wing Commander Anupam Banerjee.

The wreckage of the jet has been found in the thick forest about 60 km from Tezpur where it lost radar contact with the base.

"The wreckage was located today and ground parties are standing by to be airlifted to the crash site as the area is totally inaccessible," said Banerjee

"Search for flight data recorder and missing crew will be perused by the ground parties after they reach the crash site," he added.

Banerjee said search teams from the Army are attempting to reach the crash site by trekking cross country, adding that their progress is hampered due to bad weather, thick vegetation and steep gradient of the terrain.

The Su-30 jet had gone off the radar and lost radio contact about 1110 hours on Tuesday when aircraft was about 60 km from Tezpur.

The aircraft was on a routine training mission as part of a two-aircraft formation. A massive search operation was launched hours after the jet went missing.

However, incessant rain and dense clouds had hampered the search operations in air and on the ground.

Austarlia's biggest theme park, Dreamworld, announced it's re-opening on Wednesday, six weeks after four people were killed on a malfunctioning water ride.

This fatal accident took place after an all-clear safety review was given to the ride.

Two women and two men died when rafts on the Thunder River Rapids ride collided on October 25, at Dreamworld -- a popular tourist attraction on the Gold Coast.

Ardent Leisure, the company which owns the park, initially came in for heavy criticism by the public for the way it handled the accident.

It said that it would resume operations on December 10, and all funds from the opening weekend are going to charity.

It had previously announced that the Thunder River Rapids ride in the park will be permanently demolished and a permanent memorial will be erected for the victims of the accident.

"Every ride and slide open on 10th December will have passed a rigorously conducted, multi-level safety review," said chief executive Craig Davidson.

Ardent has also admitted that the closure of the park has cost it millions of dollars.

A coroner is currently investigating the accident.

The park has hosted 30 million people since it's opening in 1981 and October's disaster was its first fatal accident.

French gymnast Samir A?t Sa?d suffered a horrific double leg fracture at the Rio Olympics on Saturday as shocked rivals questioned the scoring system which pushes competitors to try increasingly dangerous moves.

The 26-year-old snapped the lower part of his left leg landing badly while competing in the vault in the men's qualifying at the Rio Olympic Arena. The French delegation later confirmed he had suffered a double tibia and fibula fracture.

Ait Said fell to the mat in agony clutching the back of his knee and the lower part of his leg, which visibly flopped to one side to gasps of horror from the crowd.

He was treated by medical staff for several minutes before being stretchered off to applause from the crowd.

"We're still overcome by emotion, it's unexpected, dramatic," French national team director Corinne Callon said.

"I am proud of the team, there were still three rotations and they did well to finish, they managed to regroup and now they're overcome."

It is the second Olympic blow for the gymnast from Antibes who missed the London Games because of a knee injury.

Fellow gymnasts were visibly shocked.

"I was warming up when I saw it on TV," said Germany's Fabien Hambuechen, a silver medallist from London 2012 on the horizonal bar.

The German team were also reeling after national all-around champion Andreas Toba was forced out earlier with a knee injury.

"There's always more difficult, higher risk. It's getting dangerous," said Hambuechen.

"I don't like this new system. I'm the guy who still loves the 10.0. It was a simple system. It was more flexible for everyone. The new system is pushing people and making it dangerous."

American Danell Leyva, the 2012 Olympic all-around bronze medallist, added: "I heard other gymnasts say 'don't look, don't look.

"Even though we're on different teams we know each other and I've known Samir since I was 14. It really sucks, but we have a job to do."

Rings specialist A?t-Said, a former European champion, was France's leading medal hope on the rings apparatus in Rio.

He had been third overall on rings with a score of 15.533 in early qualifying behind world champion Eleftherios Petrounias of Greece (15.833) and Olympic champion Arthur Zanetti of Brazil. Zanetti also scored 15.533 but had a higher execution mark than the French gymnast.

Toba suffered a cruciate ligament injury to his right knee during his execution of the floor routine.

The 25-year-old was helped off, but continued on the pommel horse, before hobbling off.

The perfect 10.0 scoring system was revamped after a scoring controversy at the 2004 Athens Games gymnasts have since been awarded points starting at an initial 10-point score. Gymnasts are also given scores based on the difficulty of their routine.

It's getting dangerous," said Hambuechen. "I don't like this new system. I'm the guy who still loves the 10.0. It was a simple system. It was more flexible for everyone. The new system is pushing people and making it dangerous." American Danell Leyva, the 2012 Olympic all-around bronze medallist, added: "I heard other gymnasts say 'don't look, don't look. "Even though we're on different teams we know each other and I've known Samir since I was 14. It really sucks, but we have a job to do." Rings specialist A?t-Said, a former European champion, was France's leading medal hope on the rings apparatus in Rio. (AFP)

At least 30 people were killed when a large bus burst into flames after crashing into the side of a road in central China on Sunday, state-media said.

A total of 56 people were on board the bus which crashed in Hunan province, the official Xinhua news agency reported, suggesting casualties could rise.

As many as 21 injured passengers have been sent to hospitals, Xinhua said, adding that the driver of the bus had been detained.

A video posted online by state broadcaster CCTV showed thick black smoke billowing from the vehicle, as passengers appeared to stand nearby.

Local officials believe that an oil leak caused by the bus crashing into a roadside guard rail may have caused the fire, Xinhua said.

It would be pertinent to mention that traffic accidents are common in China, with more than 250,000 people dying each year on the country's roads, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO).

Also, long-distance buses are popular as a cheap way of travelling between cities and competition between bus firms can be fierce.
