The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Jay Shah has been reappointed as the chairman of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Bali. Shah&nbsp;was unanimously elected for his third stint as the ACC chairman on Wednesday (Jan 31). The Indian administrator was first elected to the post in 2021 and has successfully seen the operations of the organisation where the Asian Cup was the centre of attraction.

On Wednesday in Bali, where several topics were on the discussion table, Shah was unanimously elected for his third consecutive stint as the chairman of the ACC. His first two stints have seen the ACC handle critical matters of COVID-19 and successfully arrange the Asia Cup and the U19 Asia Cup. The 2023 Asian Cup played in Pakistan and Sri Lanka was a critical matter of discussion and Shah successfully managed to conduct the competition.

With India’s stance of not traveling to Pakistan for the Asia Cup, Shah and his team successfully negotiated a formula to stage the tournament. The hybrid model was in use for the 2023 Asia Cup where the tournament was played in Pakistan and Sri Lanka, despite the former being the official host.

Furious over BCCI’s stance of not coming over to Pakistan for the multi-team event due&nbsp;to reasons known to them, the World Cup-winner Javed Miandad lashed out at the board saying India can go to hell, and that Pakistan doesn’t care about them. Speaking to the media at an event in Pakistan, Javed added that it’s ICC’s job to ensure that India travels to Pakistan for the Asia Cup, and if they can’t do that, then what’s the point of being a governing body.

"I have said this before as well, India can go to hell if they don't want to come to Pakistan. It doesn't bother us. It is ICC's job to ensure that India comes. If ICC can't control it then what's the use of being a governing body? Javed said.

"It should have the same rules for every team, if they don't fulfill commitments, however, strong they may be. India doesn't run cricket. It may be a powerhouse but in its home, not for us, and not for the world. Come play in Pakistan, why don't you play? If India loses in Pakistan, their public will not tolerate that,” the former captain added. "ICC should take strict action. Why is it there if they are not able to control these things? They have to put an end to things. ICC should take action against this kind of issue.”

Meanwhile, Ramiz Raja, who held the top post in Pakistan cricket before this echoed the same words.

In a tweet, he wrote, "Presenting the @ACCMedia1 pathway structure &amp; cricket calendars for 2023 &amp; 2024! This signals our unparalleled efforts &amp; passion to take this game to new heights. With cricketers across countries gearing up for spectacular performances, it promises to be a good time for cricket."

However, Shah's announcement didn't please Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) chairman Najam Sethi. He, thus, took&nbsp;a dig at ACC chief for 'for unilaterally presenting ACC structure and calendars 2023-24' and wrote in response, "Thank you Jay Shah for unilaterally presenting ACC structure and calendars 2023-24 especially relating to Asia Cup 2023 for which Pakistan is the event host. While you are at it, you might as well present structure and calendar of our PSL 2023! A swift response will be appreciated."

The ACC, in a statement, has now&nbsp;called&nbsp;Sethi's claims baseless and revealed that they had already emailed&nbsp;the PCB&nbsp;about the calendar of Asian cricket on December 22. "It has come to our knowledge that PCB Chairman Mr. Najam Sethi has made a comment on the ACC President unilaterally taking the decision on finalising the calendar and announcing the same. The ACC wants to clarify that it has followed established due process. The calendar was approved by its Development Committee and Finance &amp; Marketing Committee in a meeting held on December 13th, 2022," the ACC said.

In view of the above, Mr. Sethi’s comments on a social media platform are baseless and are vehemently denied by the ACC."

It will be interesting to see if Najam Sethi responds to ACC's statement. After slamming Jay Shah, he was raised questions on the BCCI regarding the Asia Cup and ODI World Cup during a conversation with Sports Tak.&nbsp;

As Jay Shah had confirmed that Asia Cup won't happen in India as Team India won't play Pakistan on their home soil, Pakistan had threatened to pull out of this year's ODI WC. Regarding all this and the 2025 Champions Trophy, also to be held in Pakistan, Sethi respondes strongly.

Sethi further opined, "Earlier also Mr Jay Shah gave a statement in which my predecessor Mr Ramiz Raja was not happy with that and expressed disappointment. He announced before that we (India) won't play against Pakistan in Pakistan." He added, "So the thing is on one side you want Pakistan to come and play the World Cup (2023) in India. Asia Cup to be held in September before ODI World Cup, confirms ACC chairman Jay Shah

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah's term as president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) was on Saturday unanimously extended by a year -- till the 2024 AGM.

The decision was taken at the ACC AGM in Colombo.

Shah had taken over the reins of the ACC in January last year from Nazmul Hassan, president, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), making him the youngest administrator to be re-appointed as the ACC president.

Addressing the AGM, Shah, said, "I would like to thank all of my esteemed colleagues at the ACC for reposing their faith in me and considering me worthy to carry on all the work we had begun. I humbly accept this honour and am committed to working hard with a view to organise, develop and promote our beloved sport of cricket in the region, aiding the ACC to steadily grown in stature."

Shah's extension as ACC president was proposed by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) president Shammi Silva and the nomination was backed unanimously by all the members of the ACC.

The decision was taken at the ACC AGM in Colombo. Shah had taken over the reins of the ACC in January last year from Nazmul Hassan, president, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), making him the youngest administrator to be re-appointed as the ACC president. Addressing the AGM, Shah, said, "I would like to thank all of my esteemed colleagues at the ACC for reposing their faith in me and considering me worthy to carry on all the work we had begun. I humbly accept this honour and am committed to working hard with a view to organise, develop and promote our beloved sport of cricket in the region, aiding the ACC to steadily grown in stature." "We remain committed towards ensuring the all-round development of cricket in the region, especially carrying forward the pioneering work in women's cricket and the multiple grassroots tournaments the ACC conducts in the region around the year. Shah's extension as ACC president was proposed by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) president Shammi Silva and the nomination was backed unanimously by all the members of the ACC.

The Executive Board of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) on Monday deferred a decision on the fate of Asia Cup T20 2020 after meeting via video-conference. Speculations are rife that the Asia Cup 2020 might be postponed due to COVID-19 pandemic but in the meeting, the ACC emphasized on the importance of conducting the Asia Cup, scheduled to be hosted by Pakistan in the month of September.

While the Asia Cup 2020 is expected to be shifted to another country if the tournament is held, as India cannot travel to Pakistan. The ACC is expected to wait for ICC’s decision on the T20 World Cup in Australia, slated to be held in October-November before taking a decision on the Asia Cup.&nbsp;

"...the Board emphasised on the importance of holding the Asia Cup 2020. In light of the impact and consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, possible venue options for the Asia Cup 2020 were discussed and it was decided to take the final decision in due course," an ACC press release stated after the meeting on Monday.
