According to the Forbes list in 2001, there were 564 billionaires around the world. 

The list saw few downfalls in upcoming years. In 2002, the number went down to 497, in 2013 it came down to 475.

Then in some years, it started increasing and reached 2,153 in 2019.

According to Forbes, there were 55 dropouts from the billionaires' list since 2018 due to economic forces and weak stock markets. 

The latest count shows there are 2,153 billionaires. 

Asia-Pacific was hardest hit

The report shows that there are 60 billionaires who have drooped from the list in Asia-Pacific. In China, as many as 49 have dropped out of the elite list.

The United States and Brazil are the only countries which saw an increase in the list this year.

195 newcomers in 2019

The richest newcomer is Colin Huang, the founder of Chinese discount web retailer Pinduoduo, which went public in the US in July.

In total there are 195 newcomers in this years' list.

Germany is at third position with 114 billionaires. India with 106 billionaires is fourth on the list.

With Jeff Bezos topping the list, there are only two women who made the billionaires list in 2019. 

Françoise Bettencourt Meyers, heiress to Loreal stands at 15 and Alice Walton, heiress of Walmart is at 17.
