England pacer Tymal Mills was picked up by Mumbai Indians at the IPL 2022 mega auction for a sum of Rs 1.50 crore (INR 15 million). Mills, who had joined his former side RCB in 2017 was previously on a salary of Rs 12 crore (INR 120 million) per season.
Chennai Super Kings made Krishnappa Gowtham the costliest uncapped player in the history of the IPL mega auction at the time when they spent Rs 9.25 crore (INR 92.5 million) to get him at the IPL auction in 2021. Gowtham saw a sharp decline in his pay as he was sold to Lucknow Super Giants for just Rs 90 lakh (INR 9 million) this year.
Australian pacer Pat Cummins became the most expensive overseas player at the IPL 2021 auction when he was roped in by KKR for a whopping Rs 15.50 crore (INR 155 million). Cummins was bought back by KKR this year for Rs 7.25 crore (INR 72.5 million), taking a pay cut of Rs 8.25 crore (INR 82.5 million).
Australian pacer Riley Meredith was bought by Punjab Kings last year for a whopping price of Rs 8 crore (INR 80 million). He was released by the franchise ahead of the 2022 auction and was sold to Mumbai Indians for just Rs 1 crore (INR 10 million).
Indian batter Manish Pandey was among the players who took the highest pay cut at the IPL 2022 auction. Pandey was bought by Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 4.60 crore (INR 46 million) this year which is Rs 6.40 crore (INR 64 million) less than his last contract with Sunrisers Hyderabad.
