PM Modi's day-1 in Russia: Visit to shipbuilding complex, Judo championship and more

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday arrived in Russia and was welcomed with 'guard of honour' at Vladivostok airport

PM Modi has been invited as the chief guest at the Eastern Economic Forum.

The forum, that is being held from September 4 to 6, will focus on cooperation and investment. The conference is designed to promote foreign investment in Russia's far east


PM Modi arrived

India believes that the forum will help boost its Indo-Pacific engagement. It will also help both nations meet their energy needs.

The PM had stated that the forum presents a great opportunity to further deepen commercial and economic ties between India and Russia.


Modi welcomed by Indian Diaspora

Multiple business agreements are expected to be signed during PM's visit. These include MoUs for export of coking coal and cooperation in the mining sector


PM Modi receives guard of honour

A 5-year roadmap will also be announced on hydrocarbon cooperation both in term of purchase and exploration. The prime minister will also be participating in the 20th annual India-Russia summit

PM Modi arrived at Vladivostok International Airport

PM Modi met Russian President Vladimir Putin and visited Zvezda shipbuilding complex. PM got a glimpse of Russia's shipbuilding prowess at the facility. This was Modi's third meeting with Putin this year.

The two leaders are also planning to attend a judo championship. The prime minister's first day in Vladivostok will conclude with a dinner that will be hosted by President Putin.
