IPL 2019, Chennai vs Bangalore: Players to watch out for

India's annual cricket carnival will open with an exciting clash at Chidambaram when MS Dhoni hosts Virat Kohli.

Bangalore's skipper Virat Kohli, who is currently the number one player in the One-Day International format and has achieved several milestones lately in international cricket will be a key factor for the team. 

In the previous season, he scored 530 runs including four half-centuries with an average of 139.10. 

Kohli has always led from the front and his exploits in the IPL are well documented, the skipper will begin yet another campaign aware that his form could prove vital in the success of his side in the gruelling tournament.

MS Dhoni

Chennai's captain MS Dhoni will be a key element in the middle order batting of the squad. 

Dhoni, who returned to his vintage form in the previous season scoring 455 runs including three half-centuries an average of 75.83 and a strike-rate of 150, is the backbone of the team. 

His efficient decision making as a wicketkeeper helps the bowlers with their line and length.

Umesh Yadav

Umesh Yadav will also look to shine in the IPL and make a case for selection in the England-bound playing XI. 

In the previous season, he proved his efficiency by picking 20 wickets with an economy of 7.86.

Yuzvendra Chahal

Leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal will again be the key man for RCB as he has been over the past seasons and will need the rest of the bowling attack to step up. 

In the previous season, he took 12 wickets 7.26.

AB de Villiers

Like previous seasons, Bangalore's batting will revolve around their star players Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. 

It is quite evident that ABD, who retired from international cricket, is destructive in the short cricket formats.

So far in IPL, he has scored 3953 runs including three centuries and 28 half-centuries. 

In the previous season, he scored 480 runs with a strike rate of 174.54.

Ambati Rayudu

Ambati Rayudu will be keen to step up his performance and seal a spot in the Indian World Cup squad. 

Rayudu was brilliant in the last season scoring 602 runs with a strike rate of 149.75. 

The opening pair Rayudu and Shane Watson scored a combined 1160 runs last season.
